Chapter 18: Day to go out and get a job
The normal (Lucian's) P.O.V
The constant blaring sound of my phone alarm woke me up. I turned on the bed for a minute before I opened my eyes to see a brand new day. I got up from my bed and picked up my phone to check if I was called or notified when I was asleep.
I grunted in dissatisfaction when my phone reminder read, "Day to go out and get a job". I flung back my phone to the sofa near my bed before I walked to the bathroom. Reaching there, I turned on the shower and let the cold water cool out the fatigue and stress in my body. My mother wanted me to find a job, she has been disturbing me for quite a while that I was almost twenty and she couldn't continue to fend and care for me forever. "You're a grown man now, and since you refused to continue schooling, go out there and find a job like your mates do." She had said.
"How the fuck am I supposed to work?" I muttered to myself. "I have people… Or, is it people? No. I have werewolves trying to harm me and they seem to always confront me anytime I'm in a public place."
*This is going to be fun!* Luca muttered in my mind.
I hissed in frustration and turned off the shower, tying a towel around my waist before I came out of the bathroom to brush my teeth. I wonder how our neighbours and my classmates when I was in college would view me if they saw me in a suit going out to look for a job. "Wait! What kind of company would accept a nineteen year old guy with no experience for a job position?" I walked to my bed to sit and think with the towel still tied around my waist.
*What if they add up all my capabilities and employ me as a cleaner, or even worse!*I thought.
"I'll reject it if it ever happens." I said, before I walked out of the room after changing to khaki shorts.
My mom was already in the sitting room, a hot coffee mug on her hand as she continuously blew it with air from her mouth to make it cooler. "Morning, mom." I said with a low-pitched voice like I was being forced to greet.
"Morning my handsome child," she said. "You're finally awake, I was about to walk to your room and pour my coffee on your face to make you wake up."
"Mom!" I exclaimed; looking at her eyes like I didn't know she'd never act on a thing like that even if I woke up at 12:PM.
"Come with me." She said,
She stood up from her chair and walked to the direction of the dining room with the coffee mug still in her hands. I followed her sluggishly before we reached the dining room. Breakfast was served in an expert way and I couldn't help but salivate when I saw the breakfast of bread, fried eggs, bacon pie and tea with some sausages.
But I suddenly lost my appetite when I saw my mother stop at the chair my foster father always sat on when he was alive. The sight of her eyes tearing up was too much for me to withstand so I stood up to get the chair and remove it from its position.
"Leave it!" She said when I tried to pull the chair away from her hold. I looked at her expression and walked back to my seat when I was sure that she wasn't planning on crying anymore. The dining room had three chairs and an aluminium table in the middle, each one of the chairs for me, my mom and my foster father when he was still alive.
Mom sat down on her chair and uncovered the transparent bowl that had been used to cover the food. "We should eat now!" She said and that made my mouth get wide open because we had never eaten together without praying first.
The dining room was a little uncomfortable afterwards as we both ate in silence for a while before she asked, "Where are you going to apply for a job?"
I almost spitted the tea in my mouth when I heared her. "I'm just going to go out and check out companies that needs nineteen year old dropouts." I replied.
Mom shaked her head for a minute before she said, "What's the real reason you don't want to continue schooling? I mean, your grades were good the last time I checked before your father's death."
The dining room was quiet for about five minutes before I replied. "You just said it mom, "Before my father's death"!

I walked around New York City wearing a black suit and tie with no sense of direction in mind. "All these would probably not have been happening if foster father hadn't died." I muttered to myself as I walked around in the scorching sun.
I was about to take my phone from my pocket and check for emails about possible jobs when I found myself in the front of the popular "Blue Crystal gaming company". It was a tall skyscraper building in New York and they are the makers of some of the most popular games in the world.
My wolf urged at me to go inside, even though I knew that they'll never employ somebody like me with my age range to work at the company, even if the job I wanted to apply for was as low as a cleaners'. I finally gathered the courage to walk to the building and I met two security guards putting on blue and black uniforms at the door.
"What's your purpose of coming?" They both asked at once.
"I'm looking for a job and decided to come apply here though I don't have connections with anybody in the inside." I replied; looking at their strong features and wondering how they'll react if they see my fangs.
They both looked at me for some minutes before one of them beckoned on me to come closer. I walked to him and he took a portable scanner from his colleague to scan my body for concealed weapons. He was done with scanning me in a second and then let me pass to the gaming building. I walked passed differient drawings of popular gamemakers before I reached the door.
Opening it with ease, I breathed in and out while closing my eyes before and opened my eyes to the most beautiful sight.
