Chapter 27: Beta Kim

He looked at the werewolves that were approaching us before he looked at me with an expression that said, *Like seriously? We should run?* I nodded my head and almost pee on my pants because of fear. I was still wearing the suit I wore to the Blue Crystal company and I was quite tired from the day's work and the fatigue of standing this long.
The sound of a person falling on the ground brought me back from my thinking state. I looked at the ground with terror and saw a wolf on top of my guardian and the wolf was about to put its long fangs on his neck. I saw a flash of anger on his face before he pushed off the wolf and shifted to a white wolf. My eyes opened in surprise when I realised where we had met before. "He is…" I started to say but stopped when I felt a sharp pain in my back. I slowly fell to the ground as I couldn't bear the pain. It was the exact way the man in my nightmare died, the only difference was that he was killed with a sword and I was sure it wasn't a sword which cut my back but the claw of an animal. The claws of a wolf!
I suddenly felt the same kind of rage I felt when I fought with black jacket man in the bar. I stood up from the ground with anger and irritation boiling in me before my fangs grew long out of my mouth and Luca who had been quiet ever since made a growl in me. I ran to the black wolf which injured my back and tried to lift it up with a blow and bite it with my fangs, but I was probably too slow because the wolf dogged my attempt to land a blow on its jaw and jumped up to injure me with his sharp claws. I dogged the attack and fell to the ground once again. My eyes caught a glimpse of my guardian in his wolf form and I could see that he had killed one of the two wolves that were against him.
The black wolf saw my attention diverted to my guardian and it ran to me to take advantage of my distraction and bite my neck. I used my hands as a blockage to my face as it was the first thing my brain processed me to do at that moment. The black wolf which was already close to me and had its mouth wide open for a bite of my skin was suddenly jumped over by a white wolf. They rolled on the ground and started fighting themselves and that was when I furrowed my brows in confusion.
What was happening? The wolves had been seven but another white wolf had come to the scene from nowhere. The pain in my back reduced a little when I saw that the white wolf which just came was on our side. "He might be a fan of my guardian." I muttered under my breath. Speaking of my guardian, I looked at his direction while still lying on the floor and saw that he was fighting with a single white wolf. They were both white while in their wolf form but I could differentiate my guardian because of the colour of his eyes and with the familiar way he fought.
I diverted my gaze back to the one that had saved me and was fighting with the black wolf. I was shocked when I saw that he had killed the black wolf and he stared at me the moment I looked in his direction. *He? How the hell do I know that it's an "He"?*
It was now almost dark, I stared at my watch and saw that the time was already 6:30PM. I stood up from the ground and looked in my guardians direction. He had killed the rogue white wolf and he was panting as small droplets of blood fell from his injured back. The other wolf which had come to help immediately shifted to a human male and ran to the direction of my guardian who shifted before he got there. "Alpha!" He said with a voice full of fear when he reached him. "Are you alright? You need to get up so we can go to the pack house and have someone treat your injury."
"I'm fine," He replied.
"But you have blood dripping out…"
"I said I'm fine, Beta Kim!" My guardian shouted.
"Beta? Who the hell is a beta?" I muttered quietly to myself.The guy seemed to hear me because he got up from his squat position and offered his hands to help my guardian up. His hand was rejected as the injured Alpha stood up to our surprise and looked around at all the dead werewolves that were around us.
"I'm sorry, but can I get an explanation of everything that just happened?" I asked nobody in particular.
The two of them stared at me for a while like I had just spoken in a language they barely understand. I was thinking of another thing to say before I saw the two of them walk close to me and my guardian said, "Lucian, this is Beta Kim. Beta Kim, this is Lucian."
I quietly laughed in spite of myself before I said, "You never told me who a Beta is, and you're seriously introducing a guy to me when I don't even know your name."
A chuckle escaped from Beta Kim's mouth and he immediately shut up from a single glance of my guardian who was wearing the most poker face.
"Since you really want to know my name that badly, I'm Alpha Zaver." He said it like he was forced to do so.
"Wow! What kind of name is Zaver, anyways?" I muttered.
"What did you just say?" Beta Kim said while slightly hitting my chest with his fist like he was Alpha Zaver's bodyguard.
"I was just joking. But he didn't answer my question." I said without fear.
"What question?" Alpha Zaver asked,
"You called him Beta." I said while pointing my hands towards Beta Kim. "What does it mean?"
"It means that he is my second in command, and a blow to me is a blow to him!" He blinked before he continued, "Right, Kim?"
"Yes!" Beta Kim answered.
"Now come on, we need to clean up this mess!" He said.
