Chapter 26: RUN!

My eyes were wide open in amusement as different emotions swept through my body when I heard him. "He's my guardian, he's my guardian." I continuously muttered to myself still looking keenly at him like he was an alien.
"I'm…" I started to say but was cut short in mid-air.
"Lucian." He completed,
Something about the aura he possessed told me we have met before. He had blue eyes which sparkled even though it was already evening. He was quite tall in height and also lean. He had long fingers and thick hands with a white skin, mine is whiter than his, though. He wasn't observing my body features and with the way he was comfortable with the minute of silence that stretched between us, I was now very sure that we had met before
"I guess you were the one I saw in my dream," I said, "Same body features, but I didn't get to see your face, though."
"Yeah, I guess the moon goddess wanted you to meet me for the first time in person, and not in a kind of awkward dream."
I flinched when I heard him. He was already acting cocky, and just like Mr Maxwell, I was starting to get the feeling that we wouldn't get along quite well.
"Let's get this straight, I'm the Alpha of a pack called the snow wolves pack and I'm uncomfortable with the idea that I'm going to be babysitting and training you for a war with the strongest werewolf." He said with a poker face and added, "I am only doing this because of the moon goddess and what the wolf world will face if I'm not the one to guard you to win the war."
The questions that have been running in my mind to ask him suddenly stopped when I heard his last word. "War? What war?" I asked with a face full of eagerness.
"You don't know?" He asked with a tone of surprise. "Do you have a wolf in you or not?" He asked me with more irritation evident in his voice.
"I do have a wolf," I replied, "But it's always saying that it is not his right to explain things but my guardians'.
"You gotta be kidding me." He muttered under his voice with the deepest tone of an American accent.
"But I'm not!" I replied with euphemism.
"I'm not going to stand, talk and explain at this time of the day on the main road of a secluded lane. We should better go somewhere else if you want to talk."
I thought for a brief moment before I asked, "Can you come with me to my…"
"I can't!" He exclaimed. "Maybe we should go to a more public place."
"But I hate public places." I protested. "You don't, you'd never have had a fight with Derrick if you did." He replied.
"What? Derrick? Who the hell is Derrick?" I asked him all at once.
"You see? That's why we can't talk on the road, it'll take eternity for me to explain all that is going on."
"But I'd rather not discuss in a public place, I've had some of my worst memories there!" I fired back.
"Okay!" He said and started walking back to the direction I came from.
"Hey! Wait, you haven't even told me your name." I said as I walked quickly after him. "My name ain't important." He muttered as he walked, and his tone told me that he was a true born pure New Yorker.
"Even if I agreed to follow you, you haven't told me your name yet. And I'm not a hundred percent sure that you're really my guardian. You might be one of those black wolves in disguise!"
That made him stop, and I could see the rage in him even though his back was facing me. "How dare you!" He exclaimed and started walking closer to me. I could tell that he was angry and annoyed, I could tell that the rage underneath his beautiful face could be portrayed in action and it could lead to my death. But I surprisingly didn't feel afraid, I felt as calm as I was sure that he would never hurt me.
He stopped when he was about five inch to me and glared at my body as if deciding which to disassemble first. Did he hate the black wolves that much? Was he really going to hurt me or was his anger just imaginative?
His mouth opened like he was about to say something but he snuffed instead like he just smelled something really bad. A shake in a bush not too far from us came to my hearing, he turned to the direction of the sound and I followed his line of sight. There were wolves coming out of the bush, almost as big as the one I saw outside my houses' window but they were leaner. What surprised me the most was that they weren't just black. They were a combination of black and white wolves and they were seven all in total.
They looked scary and powerful, and I realised a second too late that they were all around us. My guardian used his back to protect me, he balled his hands into a fist and muttered something like "Bloody incompetence" under his breath. I was suddenly feeling bad for calling him a black wolf in disguise. "Who are they?" I asked him with fear.
"They are rogues!" He answered, shouting it enough for it to anger them the more and it seemed to work because one of them suddenly started running to his direction. A set of claws grew out of each of his hands immediately the wolf neared him and he cut the wolf's head with his claws. It fell to the ground half-dead and the other wolves ran all at once to suddenly attack us.
"I might not be strong enough to kill all of them, just hide behind my back as I fight them." He said to me, I nodded "Okay" even when I knew he couldn't see me. The first wolf that came was white and it jumped on my guardian's body with his teeth open to take a bite out of his flesh. The wolf was sent spinning back because he used his two sets of claws to hit the wolf's head at once. I shivered in fear at his back as he fought. "Can't you also turn into a wolf like them?" I asked.
"Of course I can but they'll have a better chance of killing you if I do." He replied while slashing the neck of the third wolf. One of the wolf came to my direction and I couldn't help but shout, "It's fucking coming to kill me!" My guardian turned to look in my direction and lost his focus because he was suddenly cut from the back by one of the wolf's claws. Blood dripped from his back and I froze as another wolf which was black had brought out fangs from his mouth and jumped to grab my neck with it. I surprised myself at that instant because I jumped backward and avoided it. My guardian was injured in his back but he was still trying his best to protect me. I felt bad for him as there was nothing I could do at that moment.
"Lucian! Can't you fucking fight?" He shouted in anger.
"I can't, I was beaten at a fight with a werewolf in human form and you want me to attempt fighting with one in its wolf form?" I shouted back.
Only two of the wolves were dead, another two of them were weak and on the ground like they couldn't move but there were also three strong ones that hadn't made any attempt to fight since they came. The three wolves seemed to be enjoying the show.
My guardian suddenly staggered back in retreat like he was quite satisfied that four out of the seven wolves were on the ground. But the remaining three started stroding gradually towards us, and that was when I shouted, "RUN!"
