Ancestral Power

"You can't live inside the palace, Aiden!"

King Ellios looked at his youngest son with a frighteningly cold gaze. However, instead of trying to make the boy fear him, he was simply trying to hide the panic he had been struggling to hide since his son's birth.

"W-why Father?" Aiden stared at him. The only question that can represent how he feels right now is just why and how?

In life, humans will always be forced to make difficult choices, including even a king. For years hoping for the birth of a son who will inherit the kingdom and when he got it, at the same time he had to give up the woman he loved so much to go away forever.

To give birth to a devil means to be prepared to sacrifice your life. The little boy who stood with wet eyes in front of him, was silent as he began to feel that suffering was about to begin.

"You can't coexist with humans, Aiden. You can kill and cause catastrophe!"

"B-but I don't want to kill anyone, Father!" Little Aiden was crying. His fear of abandonment finally came.

Behind the pillar, his four older sisters looked at him with hatred. For them, Aiden was a source of havoc. Make them have to lose their beloved mother, friends and all people who feel caring for them.

"Felix and some soldiers will escort you to your new home. There, you will live with a witch who will help you control your strength. You are a powerful weapon, you were born to protect our country from enemy hands and one day, you will lead the kingdom. Before that day comes, make sure you can control your strength!"

"No way! I don't want to have this kind of power, I don't want to. Mother, because I mother died, I don't want to be like this!" Aiden cried sobbing holding back the wound in his heart.

The fact that he had never been expected, was devastating. Living and growing in isolation with the high hope that one day he will be accepted and loved. However, that hope is shattered when he realizes that from the start that hope never existed.

King Ellios rose from his throne, went away leaving his son who was crying alone. Aiden who was born with an ancestral curse was not his wish. Not one king in Fotia has borne such a terrible burden.

Ever since Fotia was founded thanks to demonic interference, the only victims were from the second family who would not inherit the throne. Keep them cooped up until the time of death and the curse will be passed on to future generations.

Aiden tried to wipe his tears, he was just a seven year old boy who didn't know what sins he had committed so he had to go through all this.

At the door, Felix stood up realizing that his brother was coming to see him. With a grin, Felix awaited a direct order from the king to take Aiden away from the palace.

"I can't believe you would actually do it, Your Majesty!"

"This afternoon, take Aiden to the Gorevmenos Forest, lead him to the witch Garrison!"

"Gorvemenos Forest? that forest is directly adjacent to Lithonia, are you sure to let Aiden live in a place like that? what if he causes trouble and damage to Lithonia. We'll be in big trouble!"

"Just do as I tell you! you have no right to interrupt!"

"Yes, Your Majesty! your orders are obligatory on me!" he said as he walked away with an annoyed face.

"Aiden, however you have to be able to fight your killing intent!"

"Where are we going, Uncle Felix?" Aiden asked when he realized that the horse that carried them had entered the deepest forest far away from the kingdom.

Three days of travel is not an easy time to come to this cursed place. Before they even got inside, red-eyed ravens greeted them with deafening screams.

"Didn't you hear it from your father? From now on this forest is your home!"

"My home?"

"Yes, so I hope don't run away and make things difficult. You have your father's orders, right? you will live with an old witch who will help you control your demonic powers. Because he is the only one who can do it!"

"W-what about my father? Doesn't he have that power?"

"A king should be born as a human who is blessed with health and a long life. Where a king can live for tens or even hundreds of years as an ability inherited from generation to generation. As for you, Aiden. Humans who are blessed with the power of a demon king will grow rapidly, surpassing your true lifespan and someone like you won't be able to become king because you will die quickly, then the curse will continue on someone who will be born on the day of your death."

Aiden was stunned to hear how his uncle explained something that no one could say. Of course, he did it not because he cared about and loved Aiden, but because of a hidden personal goal.

They arrived in front of an old house surrounded by tall trees, very quiet and dark because the sun had difficulty penetrating the dense trees. A little girl with black hair walked over to them carrying a jug filled with water.

"Do these uncles need anything?" Asked the girl with a strange mysterious face.

"Yes, we are envoys from the kingdom. We have come to bring a little boy who will be entrusted to the Witch Garisson!" Said Felix.

"Is that so? ok, I'll call my father!" This girl stepped into the old house. A few minutes later, she came out with an old man with a thick white beard.

"Welcome Mr Felix, I have been waiting for your arrival. Please enter our humble residence!"

"No, thank you. We must return to the palace immediately because we have a task to do. I think you have received a message from the king about the purpose of our arrival today!"

The wizard smiled lightly as he glanced at Aiden who was standing and hiding behind his uncle's back because he was afraid of the strange appearance of this bearded man in front of him.

"Welcome to His Majesty Prince Aiden of Fotia. From now on I am a noble teacher and my daughter, Sheera will help you to become the strongest!" He said as he stretched out his hand to shake Aiden who was still afraid of him.

Aiden hesitated to take the hand, but beside the man, the little black haired girl who was carrying the jug continued to stare at him with a smile.

The girl stretched out her hand, she already felt attracted to Aiden before they even knew each other.

"My name is Sheera, from now on I will be with you, Aiden."
