Chapter 19
There were still several days left until the weekend, and without an explanation, I was agonizing every day. Is he hesitating on how to confront me? Certainly.
Whenever I think about confronting him, I feel down.
The next day.
"Vanessa, did you have a fight with my dad?" Daniel asked me with a pouty face.
"Yeah," I replied with a weary expression. "Are you happy about it?"
"Yes," he said with a cheerful smile, looking at me.
I should have been angry, but seeing how unabashedly happy he was, I couldn't help but smile. "As long as you're happy."
"Will you leave?" he asked me again.
"I guess so."
"If you leave, will my dad find someone else to make crafts with me?" His concern was unexpected.
"Of course," I replied.
"But what if they're not as good as you?"
"You are so greedy!" I really wanted to pinch his little face, but I was afraid he would cry, so I held back.
"Is that not allowed?"
"No, it's not."
Life is truly unpredictable. My relationship with Daniel actually became closer because I was leaving. Before, he never talked to me, but now he had a lot to say. Later, he would often ask:
"Vanessa, you haven't patched up with my dad, right?"
"Vanessa, you're actually pretty, you don't need to be with my dad."
"Vanessa, if you miss me in the future, you can come see me at my kindergarten."
"Vanessa..."
"Call me Miss..."
"Vanessa sounds better."
Yes, he always called me by my name. He was really wearing me down.
"Vanessa, my dad is back." He got up and said.
Looking at his serious little face made me want to laugh.
I indeed didn't want to see Brian, so I went back to my room.
In the middle of the night, half asleep, someone grabbed my hand, it was Daniel.
"What's wrong?" I quickly got up and hugged him.
"Vanessa, what if you don't leave?" he hesitantly asked me.
"It's the middle of the night, why are you here in your sleepwear, come up on the bed." I pulled him onto the bed, and he crawled into my arms.
"Vanessa, I don't think my mom is coming back." He held onto me and started crying again. "If you leave, I won't have anyone to help me fight."
"Ah," my heart softened and I gently touched his head. "Okay... okay, I won't leave, go to sleep."
