In an instant, everyone's gaze turned to me. I saw several colleagues giving me sympathetic looks. My team leader stood up, trembling with anger.
"Vanessa!" He wanted to slam the table, but hesitated because Brian was there, so he lightly tapped it instead. He lowered his voice, "How many times do I have to say to turn off your phone during meetings?"
"I'm sorry!" I immediately confessed. I stood there, not knowing what to do.
"Boss, I'm sorry, it was just a small incident, I'll be sure to discipline her strictly." The team leader smiled apologetically.
Everyone followed the team leader's gaze and looked at Brian. Compared to my nervousness and confusion, the one responsible for all this remained calm. Quickly sliding his slender fingers across the phone screen, he finally put down his phone.
"Mm."
"Alright, alright... Let's continue," the team leader told our colleague to keep going.
The colleague reluctantly continued speaking.
I was infuriated, unable to swallow my anger, so I picked up my phone and sent him a message.
[Do you find this amusing? Are you trying to embarrass me with such a small amount of money?"
Does he think he’s impressing me with his money?
He stared at the PowerPoint on the stage, then suddenly looked down at his phone screen. But his expression remained unchanged.
Every time I'm infuriated, he stays so calm.

Money was transferred to my bank account, "$15,000."
"Is that enough?" A loud voice pierced through the conference room.
My mind went blank. Oh no, that was too unexpected, and I was so nervous that I forgot to put my phone on silent.
"Vanessa! You..." My team leader started jumping up and down.
Not only him, even I wanted to slap myself. Why didn't I put it on silent again?
"It's fine to be in a relationship, but can you please stop flirting during the meeting?" My team leader was already fuming.
"I'm sorry." I apologized with my head lowered.
"You, get out!" My team leader directly told me to leave.

I picked up my computer with a headache and was about to leave. But as soon as I took a step, someone stood up.
Brian!
He stood up directly and walked towards the exit.
"...Boss, I didn't ask you to leave." My team leader was left dumbfounded.
"Well." Brian didn't say anything, just looked at me, "Continue the meeting, I have something to attend to."
After saying that, he left the office without looking back.
