Chapter 14 Lost And Found

Chapter 14 Lost and Found
Quintan
The snow should not have been here already. We were still hunting and preparing for winter and in another pack’s territory. I was sure of it, the storm passed through us of course and now we were lost. It was just my brother and I it had been that way for years so there would be no one to notice we were gone.
“Christan, I think we need to give up and find any type of shelter!”
“But we’re close I’m sure of it!”
My twin was always so stubborn he hated being wrong even for bear shifters this was freezing we couldn’t stay exposed for so long, I decided to climb a tree to get a better look we were giants. Normal shifters were already twice the size of humans but dragons and bears were three times the size so I shouldn’t have trouble seeing from the top of the trees. Turning I saw endless white in one direction, trees upon trees upon trees in another, a lake next to some cabins, and then an enchanted goddess standing at a window we locked eyes, and I knew who she was my bear roared.
“MATEEEEE!!!.”
“Where?”
Christan asked, climbing the tree quickly. When he got up next to me, he froze having the same moment I did. We had always hoped we would share a mate we jumped down from the tree ready to run to her when a portal opened next to us, and we heard her.
“Come to me.”
We both stepped into the portal, into a huge bedroom and there she was with three other shifters next to her.
“Hi.”
She smiled sweetly. Christan ran over to her grabbing her hand.
“I can’t believe I have four mates.”
“Four?”
“Yes. This is Tristan and Ethan, my other two mates. I am Khione and this is Nathan.”
“I’m Quintan and this is my twin Christan.”
“What were you doing out in that blizzard?”
Tristan asked.
“It came out of nowhere while we were out hunting and getting supplies, we were trying to get back to our cave.”
She gasped.
“Cave?”
I felt ashamed and looked away.
“Yeah, it’s where we’ve lived for a while.”
“Why?”
“Well…...”
Christan jumped in.
“Our dad put us out when we were kids, and we stayed with our grandmother a couple of years, but she died in an attack protecting us.”
She looked at us with so many emotions. With kind eyes but not fear or pity. Most people look at us and turn the other way; they usually either fear us, or they are cruel to us. No one ever talks to us, our old pack use to kick us around, they found we weren’t tough enough. Humans find us terrifying at least the females and the males think we are big and stupid. What if we mess up? What if her other mates convinced her to reject us, I started to panic.
“Are you ok?”
Christan jumps in again.
“We both are wondering if you’re going to reject us.”
Her eyes go wide.
“I wouldn’t, I could tell you are both good men your scent, and your aura aren’t giving off any warnings. No, I have no reason to reject you.” Since you live in a cave, and there is a blizzard stay here with us. It is a spell I cast to protect Nathan if there is anything you need from your cave you can retrieve it and come back.”
I walk over to her taking her other hand.
“You mean it?”
“Yes, you are my mates I won’t abandon you to live in a cave while I live like this.”
I felt overwhelmed with emotions I could sense Christan felt the same way as I did.
“Yeah, welcome to the family, to the pack.”
Ethan said with a warm smile.
“This will be the best birthday by far Quintan.”
“Yes, a gift of a mate on our birthday could never be topped.”
“It’s your birthdays?”
We nod.
“Well technically it’s in two days but yes.”
“Wow so is mine.”
Says Nathan
She starts clapping excitedly.
“We can throw a birthday party, a mating ceremony, and a pack initiation.”
We were both excited and grinning. A pack of our own, a family of our own, a mate to love us, it was everything we ever wanted.
