With Him
ISLA thought that they will just spend their day after class inside the coffee shop but here they are, arguing about what to wear because Becca wants to go to the bar and get tipsy.
“I’m good with my dress. If you disagree then I will not come—”
“Fine! I just want to dress you up—”
“Like what are you thinking? I know you will be leaving sooner yet do you have to act childishly?” she asked which makes Becca pout her lips.
Becca glared at her and then rolled her eyes. “K. dot. Let’s go then,” Becca uttered and started to walk her way toward the door.
She can’t help but shake her head and followed after she locked their unit.
“You’re being unexplainable, Becca.”
Becca stopped and turned to her. “I’m sorry, Isla. I don’t know what’s wrong with me,” she pressed her lips, seems like she was holding a smile or a laugh.
She crossed her arms in front of her chest and arched her brow. “You’re really pulling a joke on me, huh?”
Becca looked away.
“Seriously, Becca?” she shook her head. “Childish,” she whispered and walked ahead of her.
Becca burst into laughter while she was following her.
Great, she thought. She knew it.
“Isla. Look I’m sorry. I just want to—”
“Don’t talk to me,” she uttered without looking back.
“C’mon—Zero!”
Zero? She stopped walking and glared at Becca. Now, her friend is biting her lip, looking at her teasingly.
She heaved a deep sigh. “You’re not funny—”
“I swear, I saw Zero and he’s standing behind you,” Becca uttered which makes her frown and let out a sarcastic chuckle. She rolled her eyes and was about to walk when she bumped into something hard but got a superb fragrant smell.
“What the hell?” she cursed and looked up. “Z-Zero…” she whispered.
Becca burst into laughter and it echoed in the hallway.
“Act like a lady, Rebecca Foster,” Zero uttered and suddenly grabbed her hand, dragging her gently.
Becca smiled and reached her eyes upon seeing Zero and her friend.
“Are you sure you don’t do teens, Zero?” Becca asked when she caught up with their pace.
Isla glared at her and mouthed to shut up. She turned to Zero and their eyes met. “Let it go,” she muttered.
“Elsa?” It was Becca, teasing. Which makes her roll her eyes.
When they stepped into the parking area, Becca talked and asked her cousin if she can bring her car but Zero disagreed.
Zero opened the door in the passenger seat and looked at her. “Get in,” he uttered and she did what has been told.
When she sat inside, she buckled her seatbelt and glanced at the rearview mirror to meet Becca’s eyes. She was confused and wanted to ask Becca why Zero suddenly appeared. She didn’t see Becca talking to him in person or on phone.
She sighed. Maybe they exchanged text messages.
After a few moments of driving, they arrived at a different bar—it was not the bar they went through the last time.
“Don’t stop me, Zero. Alright?” Becca asked as they walk their way toward the entrance of the bar.
“You can drink all the beer in the house. No one’s stopping you. Not unless Apollo will—”
“Watch that out for us, then,” Becca asserted.
Zero grinned and walk ahead of them.
The ambiance inside the bar is calm and relaxing. It’s not noisy or anything. It’s just it was filled with great gentle music. It’s really intended for those employees that need to chill and relax after a tough day at work.
Isla kinda loves it.
One waiter approaches them and when he saw Zero he bowed and guide them to their seat.
“This is cool, Zero. I love you for this,” Becca uttered as she sat down on the black leather sofa.
Zero seems not to hear it because he’s talking to the waiter.
“You’re saying something?” he asked.
Isla sat and Zero sat beside her. She frowned. What if someone will see them and will wonder why Zero is always with them—particularly with her?
“Nothing. Anyway,” Becca leaned back and crossed her legs, “are you sure that Apollo will not—”
“He’s too busy for the new project that he’ll be handling for the next few days,” Zero replied and rests his arms on the backrest of the leather sofa.
“How do you know?” Becca asked.
“Because we’re partners to that project.”
“Then why are you here?” It was Isla.
Zero met her eyes and smirked. “Because Apollo knew the lifestyle of his best friend,” he uttered, a little bit arrogantly.
Becca laughed and rolled her eyes after. “What a feeler,” she muttered.
She was about to speak when the waiter came and put down Zero’s orders.
Becca’s eyes twinkled when she saw the beers in front of her.
“Take it easy, Becca,” Isla warned.
Becca gazed at her and nodded. “I will. But I really want to get drunk,” she uttered.
Zero shook his head as he opened one beer bottle and handed it to her. She was hesitant to grab it when Becca chuckled.
“Come on, Isla… Beers always taste good more than anything,” she said and drank into her bottle.
She then reached for it and said, “Thank you.”
Zero just winked at her which makes Becca get thrilled.
“Yeah. I get it, Zero Cohen. You’re not really into teens,” Becca said which makes Zero dart his eyes at her, coldly.
“Shut the fuck up,” he said, in a calm way.
“Not into younger—”
“Becca,” it was Isla, a warning tone lingering in her voice.
Becca chuckled, drank the bottled beer, and continued to savor the bar's great ambiance.
“Will you be okay?” asked Zero.
She nodded. “Why wouldn’t I?”
Zero formed a sly smirk on his lips. “I get it.”
Isla felt awkward which makes her look in Becca’s direction. The woman wiggled her brows when she met her eyes, teasing her.
“You can enjoy the night together. Just pretend that you’re on a date—”
“Shut up!” Zero and Isla said in unison.
