She’s Pregnant

“THIS is your choice, Zero. So, why are you still showing your concern?” It was Apollo’s voice that roared on the other line.
Zero sighed as he drank his can of beer.
“Is she really okay? Why don’t you bring her to the hos—”
“Zero, don’t be paranoid. It was just stress. Her body badly needed a proper rest, and it’s good that you already cut ties with her. I warned you before, and I know my sister is hardheaded. However, you’re older. It was you who was supposed to move away—”
“I’m doing it already, Apollo. Just call me again when she wakes up. Bye,” Zero uttered and ended the call.
Apollo heaved a deep sigh as he stared at his sister, that is lying on the sofa. He didn’t bother to call a doctor since he knew Isla’s body was shocked because of the drama earlier.
If only it weren’t a plan, Apollo might have punched Zero’s face.
He stood up and went to the kitchen to make a coffee, and once done, he got back and gasped in shock when he saw Isla’s eyes were opened, but the most shocking part was that tears were pouring from her eyes.
“Princess…” he mumbled and walked closer to her.
Isla got up and glanced at her Apollo. “A-Apollo…” she whispered. She wiped her tears and bit her lower lip.
Zero’s last words keep on echoing inside her, making her shake her head and mumble, “no.”
Apollo put down the cup of coffee and sat beside her. “Princess—”
“A-Aren’t you mad at me?” Isla asked.
Apollo flashed a smile. “No. I’m not mad at you. Do you know whom I’m made of?” he asked.
Isla sighed and nodded.
“I warned you that engaging yourself deeper with Zero isn’t a good idea. Because I know he will still hurt you in the end,” Apollo stated.
She nodded. “I… I know. However, I didn’t… regret that I met him—that he became a part of my life,” she replied and wiped the tears that fell to her cheeks.
Apollo nodded and held her hands. “Are you sure you’re gonna be alright?”
Isla tried to smile, but it turned out to be a grimace. “I… I don’t know.”
Apollo can’t help but feel pity toward her sister. “Come here,” Apollo spread his arms wide open, “—let me hug you,” he added.
Isla didn’t hesitate and threw herself into her brother’s embrace and cried again. Apollo lets her cry inside his embrace, and he caresses her back.
After a few moments, silence filled in. Apollo’s forehead creased when he couldn’t hear his sister crying. He slowly pushes Isla away from him. He smiled and shook his head when he saw her eyes shut. It seems her sister is really tired from this day.
He carried her towards her room and lay her on the bed. He pulls the comforter upward. Guess he needs to stay for the night.
Apollo went out of Isla’s room and walked his way towards the balcony, and lit one cigarette as he dialed Zero’s number.
“How is she?” Zero’s concerned voice roared on the other line.
Apollo sighed. “She was awake earlier and cried on me, then she was asleep again,” he answered, and he heard Zero’s deep sighs on the other line.
“That’s a relief. Please do take care of her—”
“I’m doing it always, punk. Anyway, where are you?” he asked as he smoked his cigarette.
“Airport,” Zero simply replied.
Apollo sighed as he puffed a cloud of smoke into the clean air. “So, you’re really living?”
“The Big Boss needs—”
“Don’t fool me, Zero. You’re the big boss.”
Zero let out a disturbing chuckle on the other line. “I thought you didn’t know about it. Then I realize, you’re my best friend—”
“What’s your point of living? Why do you need to go to Spain? You can operate even if you’re not there. So, why? Have you developed your feelings for my sisters?”
“I have enemies—”
“We all have our enemies, idiot. Don’t tell me you’re flying because you’re a coward and can’t stand—”
“Do you want your sister’s life to be put at risk?!” Zero’s tone raised, and anger lingers in his voice.
Apollo shook his head. “You’re powerful—your family is a part of the mafia. You have a mafia clan, and they’re not ordinary. You choose to hurt my sister so as yourself to get away from it? Do you think your conscience and regrets won’t hunt you every time you go to sleep?”
“I thought I should stay away from your sister. Why all of a sudden that—”
“Because I thought you can stand with it—that you will fight your love for her. I thought you would fight your love in front of me—but you choose to stay—”
“It’s for her own good. I’m leaving. Bye—”
“Zero!”
“Zero!”
“Hello. Hello. You punk—damn!” he cursed and put down his phone as he smoked his cigarette again.
‘Damn that chicken!’ Apollo thought.
IT WAS FIVE in the morning when Isla woke up, but she was too lazy to get off her bed. It seems like her body wants to lie for a long. She doesn’t understand herself; it’s been three days since she started to feel something in her body, but she doesn’t know if it’s just because of stress.
It’s been a month since Zero left. As much as possible, Isla doesn’t want to think of him, but her traitor mind has its own will.
She tried to pull herself up, but her body won’t cooperate. She heaved a deep sigh and closed her eyes again, and suddenly, something rushed up from her stomach. Her stomach started to crumble, and she could feel what seemed like something that wanted to come out of her body. She began to feel nauseous. And even she was too lazy to get up, she moved down from her bed and rushed towards the bathroom.
She opened the lid of the bowl and puked inside. But she was surprised that nothing came out. And she started to feel dizzy.
She stood up and tried to demand herself to walk towards the bed, and she grabbed her phone and dialed Apollo’s number.
“A-Apollo… I can’t hold it—” she didn’t finish it when she suddenly fell on her bed.
“Princess?!” Apollo called her name, but she was not answering.
Fear suddenly jerked into Apollo’s heart. He glanced at his wristwatch, and it was just five-thirty. Having a bad feeling, Apollo grabbed his car keys and hurriedly climbed down, and went to the garage.
When he got inside his car, he started the engine and drifted away from their house.
In a few minutes, he arrived in front of Isla’s building. He pressed the elevator button and waited for it to open. When he arrived at the designated floor, he ran towards Isla’s unit.
He knocked a couple of times, but no one answered. Good thing he knew the password. As soon as he stepped in, he walked toward Isla’s room.
His eyes widened when he saw his sister—her half-body was on the body while her feet were on the carpeted floor.
“Shit!” he cursed and rushed towards her.
“Princess…” he tried to wake her up. However, Isla won’t wake up.
Nervous and fear lingered in his system. He carried his sister into bridal style and went down the building. When the guard saw them, he went closer.
“May I help you, Sir?”
“Please, accompany me towards my car. I’m going to rush my sister to the hospital,” Apollo said. The guard had already known Apollo for a long time. The guard then followed them, and he was the one who opened the car door in the backseat.
“Thank you,” Apollo said despite the nervousness that he was feeling at the moment.
Apollo then rushed Isla to the nearby hospital, and the doctor and nurses responded immediately. He followed them towards the first aiding area. The doctor started to check Isla’s vital signs and informed him that she was okay. It was maybe a cause of stress, but they will run more tests. So, Apollo requested that he wants a VIP room.
When they transferred Isla to the VIP room, and she still didn’t gain consciousness, Apollo called his mom.
“Where are you, mom?” he asked, and he pulled a chair and sat beside the hospital bed.
“I’m still in San Diego. How’s your sister? My flight is in the afternoon.”
Apollo sighed as he stared at his sister. “Mom…”
“Hmm?”
“Princess is in the hospital—”
“What?!” his mom’s voice roared on the other line. “What is she doing there?”
Apollo holds his sister’s right hand. “I saw her unconscious inside her room.”
“Oh, my God! H-How is she right now? Is she okay? I’m going to re-book my flight—”
“Mom. She’s fine. The doctor said it might be because of stress. Princess looks paler. And they said they will still run some tests,” Apollo explained. “And you don’t need to rush. I can take care of her,” he added.
“No. I want to see your sister. Which hospital?” Mrs. Peterson asked. Apollo then told the name and address of the hospital before he ended the call.
Before they put her sister in the VIP room, the doctor had already got a blood sample from her since they needed it to run a test.
He sighed and stared at his sister again. He moved closer. His hand raised and touched Isla’s soft cheek. “What are you doing to yourself?” he asked.
Ever since Zero left, her sister seems to ruin her life. It looks like she’s not eating a proper meal. She also looks thin, unlike before. Her skin is a little bit paler.
Suddenly, the door opened, which made him turn in the direction of the door. He smiled when he saw the doctor approaching him.
“We need to wait for thirty minutes before we find out the result. I came here to ask some questions about your….”
“—my sister, doc,” he replied.
The doctor nodded and flipped the paper that was attached to his clipboard. “Does the patient take drugs?”
Apollo frowned. “Drugs?”
“Sleeping pills or any—”
“Nothing, doc. I think she doesn’t have a good sleep nowadays because of personal matters,” he replied.
The doctor nodded. “How about alcohols—does she drink alcohol?”
Apollo shook his head. “Definitely a no,” he replied.
The doctor right down on her record board again, then suddenly, a nurse came in and handed a paper to the doctor.
The doctor smiled. “The result is out earlier than I expected,” he uttered. He glanced at Apollo and smiled before he started to read the findings.
Apollo saw how the doctor’s forehead slightly creased. When he looked up and met Apollo’s gaze. Apollo spoke. “What’s the result, doc? Is she fine?”
The doctor smiled and nodded. “Yes. She’s fine and very much healthy. Also, she’s four weeks pregnant,” the doctor uttered, and the last word surprised Apollo.
“P-Pregnant?”
The doctor nodded. “Yes. Ms. Peterson is pregnant. That’s why she fainted, and it’s normal for the first trimester of her pregnancy. However, she’s too young to get pregnant. Does she have a boyfriend?”
Apollo didn’t bother to answer it, and after a few seconds, the doctor left and would get back when Isla woke up.
Apollo doesn’t know what’s his exact feeling at that moment. He’s angry at the same time happy. But the madness almost covered his whole system.
He was sure that the father of the child was Zero. And how could that jerk plant his genes on her sister and leave her?
‘Damn you, Zero!’ he cursed inside him.
