The Last Chapter
AFTER a few minutes, Apollo’s car arrives before them, and another weird thing happens. Becca opened the backseat door for her.
However, she chooses to ignore it.
“Let’s go…!” Becca exclaimed triumphantly.
“I don’t know what’s happening why both of you are now acting weird.” Isla broke the silence inside the car.
Apollo and Becca looked at each other and smiled.
After a few seconds, they arrived at the Peterson mansion.
“Let me open it for you, princess,” Apollo asserted when Isla was about to open the car door.
She heaved a deep sigh and let the two weirdos start ruining her mood.
“My lady,” Apollo uttered when he opened the door and bowed slightly.
Isla, who’s started to lose her patience, slammed her brother right through his abdomen.
“Fuck!” Apollo exclaimed.
Becca just laughed to the side.
“You’re really stunning, my bestie,” Becca complimented, but Isla just sneered and walked straight to their mansion.
However, when she stepped inside, she felt that something was wrong. “Nana…!” she called the maid, but no one answered.
“Why are you shouting? Just walk towards the garden. I’m starting to get irritated with your choosiness,” Becca asserted and rolled her eyes toward her.
“Wow! I was the one who was getting impatient with your weirdness, yet you have the audacity to complain just because I called Nana?” Isla couldn’t help but raise her voice.
“Ladies… ladies. Chill. Let’s go to the garden,” Apollo went between them and dragged Becca by the arm.
“Stop pestering her, babe,” Apollo whispered to Becca.
Isla heaved a deep sigh and walked her way to the garden. Right when she turned to the left, she gasped in awe because she saw Zero standing there with a bouquet of tulips in his hand.
“Hi,” he greeted which put back her heart on track, but when he slowly walked towards her, her spirit even wanted to pump out of her chest. The silence can be deafening. Zero smiled at her. “Baby…”
“W-What’s the meaning of this?” she whispered, but Zero heard it.
“A bouquet of tulips to the woman that I want to spend for the rest of my life,” he said and handed over the bouquet to her.
With her trembling hands, she reached for it.
Zero’s message was evident to her, and she didn’t know what to feel at this moment. Then suddenly, tears blur her vision.
“I am sorry. I’m not a romantic man—however, I did try my best to plan this. I hope you like it. Shall we?” he asked and motioned his arm, waiting for her.
Isla looked up to meet his eyes. “I… I knew it…” she paused and tried to look at her back, but Becca and Apollo weren’t there.
She smiled at him as she tugged her arms into his, and they both walked towards the pavilion.
Her tears poured stronger when she saw her mom, Apollo, her daughter, Nana, Zero’s parents, and their treasured maids and drivers.
“I am sorry. I really don’t know if this will work—Ouch!” Zero exclaimed when Isla hit his chest.
“Stop being sorry, you jerk. It’s fantastic,” she replied.
Isla is aware that Zero is not a romantic guy since he can get whatever he desires. And this thing really surprises her. Even if she hated surprises, Zero’s schemes hit differently.
“Surprise!” People in the garden exclaimed when they walked closer to the table they arranged at the center.
“The enemies are everywhere, and I can’t risk you and the rest of my loved ones.”
Isla shook her head and wiped her tears. Damn, her makeup was already smudged up.
A maid went closer to her and handed her a tissue to wipe her face. She can’t stop her tears from pouring. Zero’s simple gesture and an unromantic thing made her emotional.
“Baby…” Zero called her attention when they stopped at the center. Isla could see the happiness written on the face of the people with them.
And at this moment, she has a hunch about what could happen, and she was right when Zero kneeled his right knee in front of her while he bent the other one.
She gasped, and tears continued falling when Zero let a red box out of his pocket and opened it in front of her.
“I never portray my life to be in this state. All I knew was I would be forever a wrecked man with a broken soul—I thought I would continue suffering because of the path that I chose… not until I met you. I am sorry for being a coward—I know all along that I may impregnate you. I just can’t risk you for the life that I have. I was known to be an untamed monster, not until you came and this monster felt the love that he sought for years. Isla Princess Peterson, I know I am not worthy enough, but I will do my best to fulfill my duty as your man….” Zero smiled at her, “—will you be with me for the rest of my life?” he added.
With hesitation, Isla nodded and exclaimed, “Yes!”
Their families started to give them warm applause as they witnessed how a monster like Zero shows his love for the woman he wants to be with for the rest of his life.
ISLA COULDN'T BELIEVE the day would finally arrive when she would walk down the aisle.
She then heard the wedding march. Her heart is on the verge of exploding with excitement as she notices Becca sending signals to her to move.
Her steps increased in size as she neared the red fur carpet. And when she raised her eyes, she noticed a colossal red curtain enclosing her.
"If you hear the wedding song you've chosen, the curtain will rise, and you'll begin walking, all right?
She nods and closes her eyes as she attempts to soothe herself. She can hear her heartbeat and sense her hands becoming colder and her heart pounding inside her chest.
She heard the drapes open while the song "A Thousand Years" was being played. Furthermore, when she opened her eyes. She tightened her grip on her bouquet as she took her first step.
She became distracted by the simple but elegant design that surrounded her. Then suddenly, she had lost sight of the beautiful ocean, the guests who were standing and staring at her, and the altar's exquisite design.
As Isla walked, she experienced a mixture of emotions—she felt as if she were flying in the air with nothing entering her mind, but when Zero's eyes met hers, she felt calmer and shed the nervousness that lingers inside her. And only happiness remained.
A soft smile crept on her lips behind her veil as Zero looked at her tenderly.
She has no regrets or doubts as she walks toward Zero. She adores this man and has no regrets about marrying and becoming his wife.
Isla was so absorbed in her thoughts that she was unaware she had already arrived in front of Zero.
"Hello, lovely," Zero murmured as he took her hand in his and pressed it. "I miss you," he added.
They have not seen each other out of respect for their traditional in a day.
Her eyes watered as she felt overwhelmed by emotion. "I miss you too."
Zero smiled softly at her. "I love you."
"I love you too," she replied with truthfulness.
"You're magnificent," Zero said, making her laugh.
"And you're handsome," she added.
Zero smiled at her once more before directing her to the altar.
And as their wedding ceremony begins, Zero continues to gaze at her with love and appreciation in his eyes, which causes Isla to smile.
And after they say "I do," Zero stops looking at her when the priest presents them with their rings.
"Please accept this ring as a token of my affection, commitment, and sincerity…." Zero placed the ring on her finger and then locked his gaze on her once more, "I vow that I will never stop showing you how much I adore you. I promise to love you more than I love myself and always put your feelings first. That I will always keep you close to my heart and that we will never be apart. I promise to always be by your side and to love you for the rest of my life."
Isla held the ring for Zero with teary eyes. "Please wear this ring as a symbol of my affection, commitment, and sincerity…" she says and continues, "I have only one solemn promise to you: I will cherish and love you for the rest of my life. I love you, Baby."
Zero licked his lips and replied, "I love you so much, Baby."
And the priest said, "You may now kiss the bride."
Zero then rushed closer to her, lifted her veil, and kissed her on the lips.
"I now pronounce you, husband and wife," the priest concluded as they parted their lips.
