Chapter 15 - Official Station

Giselle's heart weighed heavy as she faced her boss, Mr. Anderson, in his office. She handed him her resignation letter, feeling a pang of guilt at the shock that flickered across his face.
Mr. Anderson's brows furrowed in confusion as he scanned the letter. "Giselle, why?" he asked, his tone tinged with disbelief. "Your interview with Mr. Shane David was a blockbuster success. The producers are already clamoring for another one."
Giselle let out a weary sigh, her resolve wavering under the weight of her decision. "I'm sorry, Mr. Anderson," she murmured, her voice tinged with regret. "But I really need to resign."
Mr. Anderson shook his head in disbelief, unable to comprehend her sudden departure. "You're at the peak of your career, Giselle," he insisted, his tone pleading. "We're willing to double your salary, give you your own show, and provide you with even more exposure."
Giselle bit her lip, torn between her aspirations and her newfound responsibilities. This was the opportunity she had always dreamed of—a chance to cement her place in the world of journalism. But now, faced with the reality of her impending marriage to Shane, she couldn't ignore the pull of her heart.
"I appreciate everything you've done for me, Mr. Anderson," she began, her voice tinged with sadness. "But I've made a decision. I want to focus on starting a family and being a supportive wife."
Mr. Anderson's expression morphed from disbelief to concern as he searched her eyes for answers. "Is everything alright, Giselle?" he asked, his voice laced with worry. "Are you... pregnant?"
Giselle shook her head, dispelling any notion of an unplanned pregnancy. "No, nothing like that," she assured him, her tone softening. "I just... feel like now is the right time for me to prioritize my personal life."
A flicker of understanding crossed Mr. Anderson's features as he absorbed her words. "You can still have a family while pursuing your career, Giselle," he insisted, his tone gentle but firm. "Don't let this opportunity slip away."
Giselle's heart sank as Mr. Anderson's words cut through the air, tinged with a hint of disappointment. She lowered her gaze, feeling the weight of her decision bearing down on her. "I'm sorry, Mr. Anderson," she murmured softly, her voice tinged with regret. "But my decision is final."
Mr. Anderson let out a weary sigh, his frustration palpable as he leaned back in his chair. "Maybe your future husband is so rich that you don't need to work anymore," he muttered under his breath, a hint of bitterness lacing his words.
Giselle's cheeks flushed with indignation at the insinuation, but she bit her tongue, refusing to dignify his comment with a response. Instead, she rose from her seat, her resolve unwavering as she met his gaze head-on. "I value my privacy, Mr. Anderson," she asserted, her voice steady despite the turmoil raging within her. "I hope you can respect that."
With a final nod of apology, Giselle turned on her heel and made her way to her desk, her heart heavy with the weight of her decision. She needed to gather her belongings and make the official announcement of her resignation. As she settled into her chair, she couldn't shake the feeling of disappointment that lingered in the air, like a heavy cloud overshadowing her departure.
With a deep breath, Giselle began to pack up her desk, her mind racing with thoughts of the uncertain future that lay ahead. Despite the uncertainty, she knew that she was making the right choice for herself, even if it meant leaving behind the career she had worked so hard to build.
As she prepared to post her resignation announcement on social media, Giselle couldn't help but wonder what the future held in store for her. But one thing was certain: she was ready to embrace the next chapter of her life, whatever it may bring.
As Giselle sat down at her desk, her fingers hovered over the keyboard, poised to begin typing her official resignation statement. She took a deep breath, feeling a mixture of emotions swirling within her. With each keystroke, she poured her heart and soul into crafting a message that would mark the end of one chapter of her life and the beginning of another.

With a final click of the "post" button, Giselle released a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of closure wash over her. As her resignation statement went live on social media, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness at bidding farewell to her colleagues and the life she had known. Yet, she also felt a surge of excitement for the new adventures that awaited her beyond the confines of her current role. With gratitude in her heart and hope in her soul, Giselle looked forward to embracing the next chapter of her life with open arms.
As Giselle tearfully closed her laptop, a heavy weight settled in her chest. She had just made one of the biggest decisions of her life, and the reality of it was beginning to sink in. Before she could gather her thoughts, the sound of hurried footsteps approached her desk.
"Hey, Giselle, is it true?" Sarah, one of her closest friends and co-reporters, burst into the room, her eyes wide with concern.
Giselle nodded, her throat tight with emotion. "Yes, Sarah, it's true. I'm resigning."
Sarah's brows furrowed in confusion. "But why, Giselle? You love your job."
Giselle swallowed hard, struggling to find the right words. "I... I'm getting married," she finally managed to say.
Sarah's jaw dropped in shock. "Married? Wow, I had no idea. Congratulations, Giselle!"
Before Giselle could respond, another voice cut in, dripping with sarcasm. It was Carla, one of the reporters who often bullied and criticized her.
"Getting married, huh? Is it to some rich old man?" Carla's smirk was palpable as she mocked Giselle.
Sarah shot Carla a disapproving glare. "Carla, that's enough. Show some respect."
Giselle managed a small smile, trying to brush off Carla's insensitive comment. "Well, he is wealthy," she admitted, "but that's not the only thing I love about him."
Carla let out a scoff, her laughter tinged with mockery. "Of course, Giselle. Whatever you say."
Ignoring Carla's taunts, Giselle turned back to Sarah, grateful for her friend's support during this emotional time.
As Giselle pulled into the driveway of her family home, her heart felt heavy with the weight of her decision. Stepping out of her car, she was immediately enveloped in the warm embrace of her parents, Robert and Helen.
"So, it's final then?" Robert's voice was filled with a mix of concern and understanding as he held his daughter close.
Giselle nodded, her eyes brimming with emotion. "Yes, Dad. I've made my decision."
Helen reached out to gently wipe away a tear from Giselle's cheek. "Sweetheart, are you sure about this? You know we'll support you no matter what, but we just want you to be happy."
Giselle took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. "I know, Mom. And I appreciate that more than you'll ever know. But I need to do this. I need to follow my heart."
Robert and Helen exchanged a knowing look before pulling Giselle into another tight hug. "We understand, sweetheart," Robert said softly. "Just know that we'll always be here for you, no matter what."
