Chapter 16 - Meet the parents
In the quiet expanse of his lavishly appointed office, Alpha Shane David sat ensconced behind his expansive mahogany desk, his piercing gaze fixed intently upon the glowing screen of his sleek laptop. The soft illumination cast a warm glow upon his chiseled features as he scrolled through the myriad notifications flooding his inbox, his attention immediately captured by a singular post that held profound significance to him.
It was the official statement of Giselle Hamilton, the woman whose presence had stirred a tumult of emotions within his steadfast heart. As he perused her words, a surge of profound relief washed over him, mingled with a profound sense of joy. Giselle had made her decision, choosing to resign from her cherished position as a reporter, a decision that bespoke her commitment to their burgeoning relationship.
A gentle sigh escaped Shane's lips, laden with the weight of unspoken emotions as he contemplated the gravity of Giselle's choice. It was a momentous occasion, one that heralded the dawn of a new chapter in their lives together. With a sense of quiet determination, Shane resolved to ensure that their union would be nothing short of extraordinary.
Turning his attention to his steadfast assistant, Leo, who stood poised nearby, Shane's voice resonated with quiet authority as he issued his instructions. "Leo, please summon the wedding planner at once," he said, his tone imbued with a sense of urgency tempered by anticipation. "It is time to commence preparations for the celebration of a lifetime."
Leo's expression mirrored Shane's unwavering resolve as he acknowledged the directive with a deferential bow of his head. "Consider it done, Alpha Shane," he replied, his voice laced with unwavering loyalty.
Later that night, as the moon hung high in the starlit sky, casting a silvery glow over the tranquil neighborhood, Alpha Shane David made his way to Giselle's home. The weight of the evening's significance hung in the air, palpable to him as he approached the modest yet inviting house. With a deep breath, he steeled himself for the momentous occasion that awaited.
The doorbell's chime echoed softly through the quiet house, and Giselle, who had been lost in thought, jumped slightly at the unexpected sound. She hurried to the door, curiosity and a hint of anxiety coursing through her. As she opened the door, her eyes widened in shock.
"Shane!" she exclaimed, her voice a mixture of surprise and excitement. "What are you doing here?"
Shane's eyes softened as he looked at her, a warm smile playing on his lips. "I came to see you, Giselle," he replied gently. "And to officially ask your parents for your hand in marriage."
Giselle's heart fluttered with a mix of emotions. She knew this was coming, but the reality of the moment still took her breath away. She nodded, stepping aside to let him in. "Come in," she said, her voice trembling slightly with anticipation.
As Shane stepped inside, the warmth and coziness of the Hamilton home enveloped him. The scent of home-cooked meals lingered in the air, and family photos adorned the walls, capturing moments of love and laughter. Shane felt a pang of nostalgia, reminded of the simplicity and warmth of his own upbringing.
Giselle's parents, Robert and Helen, along with her younger siblings, Cindy and Jon, gathered in the living room. They exchanged curious glances, clearly surprised by the unexpected visitor. As Shane entered the room, their expressions shifted from curiosity to a mix of awe and apprehension. They were well aware of Shane David's reputation as an alpha werewolf, and the knowledge of his presence in their home was both thrilling and intimidating.
Robert, a tall and sturdy man with graying hair, was the first to speak. "Good evening, Mr. David," he said, extending a hand in a gesture of welcome. "It's an honor to have you in our home."
Shane shook Robert's hand firmly, his eyes meeting the older man's with respect. "Thank you, Mr. Hamilton. Please, call me Shane."
Helen, a petite woman with kind eyes, smiled warmly. "We've heard a lot about you, Shane," she said, her voice tinged with a mixture of curiosity and nervousness. "Giselle speaks highly of you."
Giselle blushed, feeling a mixture of pride and embarrassment. "Mom, Dad, this is Shane," she said, her voice soft but steady. "He's here to talk to you about something important."
Cindy, a spirited teenager with bright eyes, and Jon, a quiet young boy with a thoughtful demeanor, watched the exchange with wide-eyed interest. They had always known their sister was special, but the presence of an alpha werewolf in their home made it feel like they were living in a storybook.
Shane took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. "Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton," he began, his voice sincere and steady, "I love your daughter deeply. She has captured my heart in a way I never thought possible. I am here tonight to ask for your blessing to marry her and to promise that I will cherish and protect her for the rest of my life."
Robert and Helen exchanged a glance, their expressions softening. Robert cleared his throat, clearly moved by Shane's earnestness. "Shane," he said, his voice carrying the weight of a father's love and concern, "we want nothing but the best for our daughter. It's clear to us that you care for her deeply, and that means a lot. But you must understand, this is a big step for her and for us."
Helen nodded in agreement. "Giselle has always been independent and passionate about her work. Giving up her career is a significant sacrifice," she added, her eyes reflecting the depth of a mother's love and worry. "We need to know that she will be happy and fulfilled with you."
Shane nodded, understanding their concerns. "I promise you," he said earnestly, "that I will support Giselle in whatever she chooses to do. Her happiness is my priority, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that she feels loved and valued."
Giselle, moved by Shane's words, reached out to take his hand. "Mom, Dad," she said, her voice filled with emotion, "I love Shane. I know this is a big change, but I believe in our future together. Please, trust me."
Cindy, who had been watching the exchange with bated breath, suddenly burst out, "So, does this mean we're going to have an alpha werewolf in the family?" Her eyes sparkled with excitement at the prospect.
Jon, more reserved but equally curious, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, what will that be like?"
Shane chuckled softly, feeling a sense of warmth and acceptance from Giselle's siblings. "It will be an adventure, that's for sure," he said with a grin. "But I promise, I'll always be there for all of you, just as I will be for Giselle."
Robert and Helen shared a look of understanding. They could see the genuine love and commitment in Shane's eyes, and they knew their daughter's heart was set. With a sigh, Robert extended his hand once more. "You have our blessing, Shane," he said solemnly. "Take care of our girl."
Helen nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Welcome to the family, Shane," she said warmly. "We're happy to have you."
Shane's heart swelled with gratitude and joy. "Thank you," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I won't let you down."
