Chapter 44 - Rogue Activity

Later that night, Lucille and her daughter Trixie sat in their dimly lit living room, the weight of their plan heavy in the air. The tension was palpable as Lucille picked up the phone and dialed Jack’s number. Trixie sat close to her mother, her eyes wide with anxiety and determination.
Jack answered on the third ring, his voice gruff and impatient. “What is it, Lucille? It’s late.”
Lucille didn’t bother with pleasantries. “Jack, we need you to eliminate Delta Marlon tomorrow,” she said, her voice tight with urgency. “He’s too eager to find out who Trixie’s real father is.”
There was a brief pause on the other end before Jack responded. “Okay,” he said slowly. “How do you want to do this?”
Lucille glanced at Trixie, who nodded. “We’ll tell him there’s a rogue sighting in the forest,” Lucille explained. “Lure him out there and make it look like an abduction.”
Jack’s laugh was dark and humorless. “You’ve thought this through, haven’t you?” he said. “Fine, we’ll handle it. Just make sure he goes to the forest.”
Trixie leaned closer to the phone, her voice sharp. “And don’t forget about Giselle,” she added. “She needs to be eliminated too.”
Jack’s voice was stern. “One thing at a time, Trixie,” he said. “First, we’ll take care of Delta Marlon. Once he’s out of the way, the pack will be too grief-stricken to search for Giselle. It’ll be easier to take her then.”
Trixie’s eyes blazed with anger. “I don’t want any mistakes, Jack,” she snapped. “Giselle needs to be gone. If Alpha Shane finds out the truth about us, we’ll be ruined.”
Jack sighed, his patience wearing thin. “I know what’s at stake, Trixie,” he said. “Just make sure you and your mother play your parts. We’ll handle the rest.”
Lucille tightened her grip on the phone. “We will,” she promised. “Just make sure it’s done.”
Jack grunted in acknowledgment. “Consider it done,” he said. “We’ll be ready tomorrow.”
As Lucille hung up the phone, she and Trixie exchanged a tense look. “We can’t afford any mistakes,” Lucille said, her voice trembling slightly. “If this goes wrong, we’ll lose everything.”
Trixie nodded, her resolve hardening. “I know, Mother,” she said. “But we have to trust Jack. He has as much to lose as we do.”
The next morning, Lucille prepared breakfast as usual, her hands shaking slightly as she moved around the kitchen. Delta Marlon entered the room, looking tired but determined. He glanced at Lucille, sensing her unease.
“Is everything alright?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Lucille forced a smile, trying to hide her anxiety. “Yes, everything’s fine,” she said, placing a plate of food in front of him. “I just didn’t sleep well.”
Delta Marlon nodded, accepting her explanation. “I’ve been thinking about what Alpha Shane said,” he began, his tone serious. “About Trixie’s father.”
Lucille felt a pang of guilt but pushed it aside. “What about it?” she asked, keeping her voice steady.
Delta Marlon sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I want to believe you, Lucille,” he said. “But I need to know the truth. For Trixie’s sake.”
Lucille’s heart raced, but she maintained her composure. “I understand,” she said softly. “Maybe we can talk more about it later. For now, I heard there’s been some rogue activity in the forest. Could you check it out?”
Delta Marlon looked at her, surprised. “Rogue activity? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
Lucille shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. “I didn’t want to worry you,” she said. “But it might be worth checking out.”
Delta Marlon nodded, his protective instincts kicking in. “I’ll head out there now,” he said, standing up from the table. “Stay safe.”
Lucille watched him leave, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew what was about to happen, and it terrified her. But she also knew it was necessary to protect her and Trixie’s future.
As Delta Marlon made his way into the forest, Jack and his men were already in position, hidden among the trees. Jack signaled to Kurt, Armond, and Bart, and they moved silently into place. They had done this many times before, but this time, it felt different. More personal.
Delta Marlon walked cautiously, his senses on high alert. He had been in enough battles to know when something was off. Suddenly, he heard a rustle in the bushes and turned just in time to see Jack step out, his eyes cold and calculating. “What are you doing here?” He said, his voice filled with anger and betrayal.
Jack didn’t bother with pleasantries. “I’m here to end this,” he said, signaling to his men. Kurt, Armond, and Bart moved quickly, surrounding Delta Marlon.
Delta Marlon’s eyes narrowed, and he prepared to fight. “You’ll regret this,” he growled, shifting into his wolf form.
The battle was fierce but brief. Outnumbered and caught off guard, Delta Marlon was quickly overpowered. Jack delivered the final blow, watching as Delta Marlon fell to the ground, lifeless.
“Get rid of the body,” Jack ordered, his voice devoid of emotion. “Make it look like a rogue attack.”
Kurt, Armond, and Bart nodded, moving quickly to dispose of the evidence. Jack watched them work, his mind already turning to the next phase of the plan.
Back at the mansion, Lucille and Trixie waited anxiously for news. When the phone finally rang, Lucille answered it with trembling hands.
“It’s done,” Jack said simply. “Delta Marlon is dead.”
Lucille closed her eyes, relief washing over her. “Thank you, Jack,” she said softly. “Now, about Giselle—”
“I’ll take care of her,” Jack interrupted. “But we need to move carefully. The pack will be grieving, and it will be easier to take her when they’re distracted.”
Trixie leaned in, her eyes filled with determination. “Make sure it’s soon,” she said. “We can’t afford any loose ends.”
Jack grunted in acknowledgment. “I know,” he said. “We’ll move as soon as the time is right.”
As Lucille hung up the phone, she and Trixie exchanged a look of grim satisfaction. They had taken the first step in securing their future. Now, all they had to do was wait for the perfect moment to eliminate Giselle and ensure Trixie’s place as the next Luna.
