Chapter 57 - Failed appointment
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over Lucille and Trixie's home. The tranquility of the night was suddenly shattered by a sharp knock at the door. Lucille's heart raced as she opened it, only to find Jack standing there, his expression somber yet resolute.
"What the heck are you doing here?" Lucille hissed, her eyes darting nervously around. "If someone from the pack sees you, we’re doomed!"
Jack frowned, his face etched with determination. "Now that Delta Marlon is dead, we can start to become a family."
Lucille's eyes blazed with anger. "No way, Jack. Not now, not ever."
Trixie appeared behind her mother, equally furious. "Until I become Alpha Shane’s wife, we can't be a family."
Jack's jaw tightened, his gaze shifting between Lucille and Trixie. "Don't worry. We will abduct Giselle soon. That will make things easier."
Lucille shook her head, her voice trembling with frustration. "Jack, you don’t understand. Abducting Giselle is only part of the plan. We need to ensure Shane's loyalty to Trixie."
Trixie stepped forward, her eyes fierce. "And with Zorayda's spell, we can do that. But I need to get a strand of Shane’s hair."
Jack’s brows furrowed. "A strand of hair? That sounds risky."
Trixie crossed her arms defiantly. "It is risky, but it's the only way. Zorayda said the spell would be more powerful with it."
Lucille placed a reassuring hand on Trixie's shoulder. "We'll make it work, Trixie. We have to."
Jack looked at them both, his expression a mixture of concern and determination. "Alright, I’ll take care of Giselle. You focus on getting that hair."
Lucille nodded, her resolve hardening. "Fine. But be quick and discreet. We can't afford any mistakes."
As Jack turned to leave, Trixie called after him, her voice tinged with desperation. "And Jack, remember. No one can know about this. Not even your rogues."
Jack nodded solemnly, his eyes meeting Trixie's with unwavering determination. "I promise, Trixie. We'll get through this."
As he disappeared into the night, Lucille and Trixie were left standing in the doorway, the weight of their plans pressing heavily upon them. The stakes were higher than ever, and failure was not an option.
Lucille turned to Trixie, her expression softening slightly. "Are you ready for this, Trixie? It won't be easy."
Trixie nodded, her jaw set with determination. "I'm ready, Mother. I'll do whatever it takes to become Shane's wife."
Lucille smiled faintly, pride and worry mingling in her gaze. "Good. Now let's go over the plan one more time."
They retreated into the warmth of their home, their voices hushed as they meticulously discussed every detail. The night wore on, each passing minute bringing them closer to their moment of truth.

Carla grinned as she thought about visiting Shane David at his office at David Corporation. She dressed in a sexy yet corporate attire, making sure that every detail of her outfit was perfect. She wanted to ensure that Shane would be attracted to her and see her as a better option than Giselle. Although it wasn't time for her interview, she was determined to see him, so she decided to go to David Corporation without an appointment.
Carla drove to the towering David Corporation building, her heart racing with excitement and anticipation. As she entered the sleek lobby, she walked confidently to the receptionist's desk.
"Good morning," Carla said with a bright smile. "I'd like to see Mr. Shane David, please."
The receptionist looked up from her computer, her expression polite but firm. "Do you have an appointment, ma'am?"
Carla's smile faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered. "Mr. David and I have an interview scheduled for next week, but I need to do a photo shoot with him beforehand. He agreed to it."
The receptionist's brow furrowed in confusion. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but without an appointment, I can't let you see Mr. David. I'll need to check with Sir Leo first."
Carla's frustration bubbled beneath the surface, but she kept her composure. "Please do. I'm sure he'll understand."
The receptionist nodded and picked up the phone, dialing Leo's extension. After a brief conversation, she hung up and turned back to Carla. "You can go to the 28th floor. Someone will meet you there."
Carla's grin widened as she thanked the receptionist and quickly walked to the elevator. She pressed the button for the 28th floor, her mind racing with thoughts of how to impress Shane. When the elevator doors opened, Carla stepped out into a spacious office area. A woman who seemed to be the president's chief of staff approached her.
"Ms. Carla?" the woman asked, her tone professional.
"Yes, that's me," Carla replied, her voice laced with anticipation.
"Please follow me to the conference room," the chief of staff said, leading Carla down a hallway.
Carla walked briskly, her heels clicking on the polished floor. She entered the conference room and took a seat, her eyes darting around the room as she waited. After a few minutes, the door opened, and Leo walked in, his expression serious.
Carla frowned, her frustration mounting. "I came here to see Mr. David, not you."
Leo's frown mirrored hers. "Mr. David is busy. You can tell me what you need."
Carla's eyes narrowed, her voice dripping with arrogance. "I need to see Mr. David personally. I doubt you can help me with what I want."
Leo's expression remained calm, but his eyes were steely. "I'm more than capable of handling any requests. Now, what is it that you need?"
Carla leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. "I need to arrange a photo shoot with Mr. David. It's for the upcoming interview. It has to be perfect, and only he can approve the details."
Leo sighed, his patience wearing thin. "I understand your need for perfection, but Mr. David's schedule is very tight. You'll need to work through me to arrange any details."
Carla's frustration boiled over. "I don't think you understand, Leo. This is important. I need to make sure everything is perfect for the interview. Mr. David agreed to this, and I expect him to honor that."
Leo's eyes hardened. "Mr. David has many commitments. I assure you, anything you need to arrange can be done through me. Now, let's discuss the details of your photo shoot."
Carla's jaw clenched, but she knew she had no other option. "Fine. The photo shoot needs to capture Mr. David's essence – his leadership, his charisma. We need to convey his vision for the company. It's crucial for the article."
Leo nodded, taking notes. "Understood. I'll relay this to Mr. David and ensure everything is arranged accordingly. Anything else?"
Carla's eyes glinted with a mix of determination and frustration. "Yes, make sure Mr. David is available for the shoot. I need him there in person."
Leo's gaze didn't waver. "I'll do my best, but as I said, his schedule is very tight. If he's not available, we'll find an alternative."
Carla's frustration was palpable, but she nodded reluctantly. "Alright. Just make sure it's perfect."
Leo stood up, signaling the end of their conversation. "I'll be in touch with the details. Thank you for your understanding."
Carla watched him leave, her mind racing with thoughts of how to get closer to Shane. She wasn't going to let anyone stand in her way, not even Leo. As she left the conference room, she resolved to find another way to capture Shane's attention.
