Chapter Twelve
Still wind, red eyes, and fangs.
Silence. For a moment no one said anything. Montai and the rest of the Nakuru tribe simply stood on defense waiting. The growls from the men’s chest grew stronger as the shadows took a step from the darkness. Vampires. The same creatures who destroyed the ceremony centuries ago. A total of four stood in front of them. All women. It was as if they were true sisters by blood. Short red shoulder-length hair that seemed to have a crinkled-up style to it. Eyebrows to match. Green eyes with cute little freckles around the under-eye area.
Their skin was porcelain white and seemed smooth to the touch and you could smell the fresh blood in the air. One of the quadruplets wiping the corner of her lip with her thumb. Lelani could sense that it was human blood and the thought of it made her stomach churn. An odd sensation to vomit rising in the pit of her tummy. Thinking to herself that if she felt this way then Montai must be ready to attack. That’s when Lelani caught it. A familiar scent she once knew or encountered in the human world and her eyes went dark. Sliding past Montai as she spoke with a hiss.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are.” Lelani’s light pastel purple eyes had turned to a muddy dark purple color. She knew that scent. The smell of clumpy tar, rotten blood, and dirt. It’s a scent that burns your nose. It never goes away, you just simply get used to it. She knew the men behind the scent, and the monster he really was. Her body swayed as she walked slowly, never making a sound. Walking further towards the darkness until she was crawling on all fours like a cheetah stalking an intruder. Her eyes caught him in the darkness and followed his movements.
His once all-black eyes now turning red like a normal vampire. His pure white teeth beaming through the darkness as he smiled. A low chuckle in his throat as he revealed himself.
It was clear Montai was not fond of the response his Queen was giving off. However, for the trust he had in her he stood back grinding his teeth as he asked her one simple question. “You know this bloodsucker?” Bloodsuckers… It was like the racist word for vampires. You could see the male vampire's eyes glint briefly with anger in response to the term. He went to take a step forward but so did Lelani. A tsking sound escaped her mouth as she held up her right pointer finger moving it back and forth.
Speaking to her King though her eyes never left the man.
“His name is Lannister. A bloodsucker from a place on Earth called California. I met him at a bookstore.”
Before she could say anything else the being named Lannister hissed daring her to call him other than his name again. At this Lelani stood. A fire of purple aura seemed to beam off her before returning back to connect with her inner self. She hissed her next words carefully.
“You dare come here! You dare approach me, my kingdom, my king, and my people. I know you Lannister. The true you. The monster you can’t hide. I found you tearing women apart. Torturing them days upon days. I left you to die when the sun came up. It was the acts of this foul creature and sending him to hell that caused me to forget everything. I did that spell after I locked him away to burn in the sun. It was my fault for not destroying you then. Earth made me weak.”
Lannister chuckled. His laugh sending the birds on his end of the magical border to fly away with fear. “Earth made you stupid! Nakuru makes you weak. This border will come down! What little good you protect in there will burn. Soon the mortal world will be red. Magic began to stir in the Earth realm when you woke and there are many hungry creatures coming out at night to play.” Lannister folded his arms over his chest. Shrugging his shoulders as he found his way to the four woman. Standing in the middle of them as they rubbed up and down his arms, back, and chest.
“I just thought you should know.”
Lannister was an old vampire. One that was around in the old times of Nakuru. One that was around for the beginning of its history. An attractive vampire once good. However, wickedness was the only thing he looked for now.
He was a tall man with a medium-tone build. Somewhat on the slender side. He was around six feet, two inches. But, he was fast. His build perfect to slip around a Lycans jaw and heavy movement. He was a rare type of vampire. One many didn’t see. His skin tone was a dark brown bronze. He had an old victorian style to him. Long velvety soft dark brown hair. Pulled back into a ponytail that stopped at his shoulders. Curly bangs falling over one of his eyes. His hair was tied back with a red hair tie from an earlier victim. Firm eyebrows that were shaped straight.
Deep bloody red eyes under deep lashes. A simple nose with full lips. A handsome young feature with a demeanor of a wise man. The last feature to dignify him was the silver earring he only had on the left side of his ear.
Lelani rolled her eyes. A fowl glance at his concubines before speaking. “I didn’t know you were turning your prey into trained pets before killing them now. Did you get bored of ripping them apart?” Her impatience with the situation growing. “Speak your truth. You expect me to believe you came here to warn us of creatures stirring on Earth?”
Another laugh escaped Lannister as he made a wave of his hand. The women around him fading back into the darkness. Lannister pointed at Montai before speaking. “Your one to talk. You have a dog as a mate. Heed the warning or don’t. It won’t matter. Like I said. Your borders will fall soon enough.”
With that Lannister continued to laugh until his appearance faded completely with the forest connected to the Earth realm leaving those in Nakuru looking towards Lelani.
