Chapter Twenty-Four
“This all seems a bit rushed.” Montai heard Boa speak as he conversed amongst the others. Walking up behind him and placing his hand on his shoulders before giving his brother a sad look. Montai’s voice dry and lost when he spoke. “That’s because it is. We no longer have time to waste. It’s time.”
With that Montai handed everyone in the room the same potion, he had given Nile earlier. Only this time instead of the color purple it was a deep blood red. Almost like blood but it couldn’t be that. Or could be? The strong scent of iron mixed with the scent of Hamari Rose. It was a blood potion and not just anyone’s blood. It was Lelani’s.
Lelani looked sick as she looked down at the vile. “This potion will make my powers weak. Once we drink this the border will fall. Your strength will be transferred to Nile. My gift will be transferred to a mortal who will control it in a different form. Though we had to rush it everything has been planned. The spell will work as a bonding act. Once the powers transfer and once the poison seeps through our blood system we will die. The creatures I have linked with will die as well. Only two supernatural beings will live.
Nile and Isidora.”
Boa looked around a little hurt that he was unable to say goodbye in a proper way. “Where is Nile? Will we see him before we.. You know.”
Montai frowned a tear seemed to collect in his eye but it never fell. “He is delivering a package to the woman he saw in the garden. They will be the only paranormal beings in the next world. It will be theirs to decide on what to do next. This was never mine or Lelani’s story. This story was for Nile. For Nile and the one he has sirened to Isidora. Though he is unaware is fate has already been placed before him.
Before Montai could say another word Nile came bursting through the grand doors. Heading towards the meeting table they had all gathered around huffing and puffing. Montai could see the anger in his eyes and for just a moment Montai froze nervously because Nile wasn’t supposed to be here. No matter. They had a plan set just in case this was to happen.
Nile was heaving with wild mad eyes as he looked at the elders, his brothers, and Lelani. Glancing down at the potions in their hands.
“Enemies are at our gate and you send me on a chase to deliver potions to a witch. I assume that’s what she is though you say she is a mere mortal. These potions where is mine?”
Without saying a word Mohe another one of his brothers tossed him a vile that looked exactly like the others. Only there was a difference Nile didn’t pick up on. The inside of the bottle had been painted to match the color of the potion they drank. However, his was black and foul like tar. For a moment they all hesitated looking at Nile with the bottles in their hands. Each taking their turn to smile and say goodbye to one another.
Nile following in their lead, however, still confused as to what was going on. On the count of three, the bottles touched each of their lips and each felt an odd warming sensation. All but Nile. His stomach began to flood with pain. Like it was being turned around from the inside out. Clutching at his stomach and gasping short airs of breath as he stumbled towards the table. His vision going blurry before he blacked out.
Hearing only the faint sound of his brothers as he heard them speak of moving his body somewhere. Had they killed him? Was he in their way? Surely it wouldn’t end like this. Another faint sound of what sounded like the border breaking followed by horrid screams from the monsters trying to break in. Unable to grasp the true horrors outside as his eyelids fully shut and he found himself blacking out. Slipping into a coma.
