Meeting Him
‘Alpha, did you see the woman Gamma Clark brought to the pack?’
Beta Jace tries to alert Alpha King Enrick in the mind link to Clark's girlfriend, whom he finds highly suspicious. Her aura is dark, his senses warn that she is not bringing anything good to the pack.
‘No, he hasn't introduced me to her yet. What's up? You don't sound well,’ Enrick asks him in surprise. Jace usually is an easygoing guy. He remains correct and good-humored until the pack's safety is compromised or when he's dealing with rogues. But in this case, he seems to be having issues with a friend of the pack's Gamma. That is not good news.
‘Well, she comes across as highly suspicious. Something is so off with her, it's like she entered our pack with a plan. I don't trust her at all, Alpha,’ he states firmly. Enrick frowns now. ‘Okay, go for information about her and I'll tell Clark to bring her so I can meet her. Only then can I say more about this,’ he answers his Beta. As the men finish their conversation, Enrick leans back in his desk chair. It is past midnight, he will order his Gamma to appear with his guest in the late morning.
Enrick's thoughts turn to Drina.
He sighs deeply. It's been a week since he last saw his mate, the day her parents came to visit. She had spent the night with him and, as usual, was gone the following day. He is at the end of his rope, the situation really needs to change. Her parents have accepted him and that is quite an improvement. The next time he meets them, he will urge them to let go of his mate. He suspects that Drina feels responsible for her parents and other relatives in the house and therefore hesitates to move.
But he needs her in the pack.
And his wolf longs for her. Not to be with him every now and then, he wants her around him permanently, waking up next to her every day. The longing becomes more urgent, almost untenable.
To calm his mood, Enrick walks to the terrace of his study. He takes off his tie, unbuttons his shirt and leans on his hands on the railing staring at the sky. The wind blows sultry and the moon in the sky lights up the area around the packhouse.
And there he sees a woman standing. With her back to him. Her hair is jet black, her hips full at a wasp waist. Only her rump betrays that she is not Drina. Enrick stares at her like a woman from a mysterious comic strip, she stands silhouetted against the light. She's not a pack member, he's sure of that. As the Alpha King, he knows all the she-wolves of the packs under his control.
He sniffs in the air.
No, she's not a werewolf. But her scent isn't one hundred percent human either. Then Enrick thinks back to his Beta's words and realizes that this must be the woman Jace was so concerned about. He continues looking at her for another minute more, but as he turns to re-enter his study, the woman turns her head. Their eyes clash. Hers contains a seduction, it is as if she wants to enchant him with her appearance. A shiver of anticipation runs through the Alpha King, but he strongly suppresses it. No, he only belongs to Drina.
No one is entitled to his affection or desire. With a sudden move, he breaks eye contact and walks through the door, out of sight of the woman.
He doesn't see the evil smile on Alcina's face. She left Gamma Clark in the car while he was talking on his phone. When the man was distracted, she made her way to the side of the packhouse where she suspected the Alpha King was in his apartment. From the conversations with Clark, she understood that Enrick had an office not only on the ground floor but also a small study in his apartment. And given the hour they got back from the club, she guessed the Alpha King must already be in his bedroom.
And her lucky star was on again when she noticed that the light in his room was still on. And when she saw the balcony door open, she knew it was a golden opportunity to get his attention. Alcina plans to win over the man gradually. A lonely man is the easiest to seduce as he yearns for the presence of his mate. And she knows that werewolves are attached to their mate. Now that Drina has opted for a long-distance relationship with the Alpha King, she is more than willing to fill in his need.
Now that she has accomplished her goal, she walks back to Clark.
“Hey beauty, where were you? I thought someone had kidnapped you," her friend smiled at her. She walks toward him swinging her hips. “Not a chance. As long as I'm in the company of the Gamma, I'm safest in the pack,” she flirts. Overjoyed at her changed attitude towards him, he seizes the opportunity. Tenderly he takes Alcina by the waist and pulls her to his chest.
“Not only can I take care of your safety, but I can also do a lot more for you,” he whispers in her ear. “If you give me a chance”. Alcina leans against him and rests her head on his shoulder. “Friends, remember? And you don't have sex with your friends”, she answers him in a good mood.
“I had a nice evening, Clark”, she tells him gratefully. “Thank you for that. My hitchhiking adventure is more exciting than I thought. And werewolves are friendlier than my friend told me.”
"Wait until you meet the Alpha King tomorrow," Clark replies. “That is always the most exciting thing for visitors. But few have met a true werewolf leader.” He also does not see the woman's devilish smile. Everything goes perfectly according to her wish. “Yes, I'm looking forward to it. Is he the big bad wolf?” she asks with feigned terror.
Clark smiles softly. “No, he is strict against lawbreakers, but generally, he is friendly. I'm sure you'll get along with him."
Sure thing!...
