Trading His Loyalty

Alcina’s POV

That bitch Drina has everyone in Midnight Moon at her hand!
No matter how hard I tried to seduce her mate, the more he rubbed in my face that he only loved her and no one else. She hasn't been in the pack for the last few weeks, so I thought Enrick must be horny now and easier to lure. I sneaked into his bedroom from my balcony. He was peacefully sleeping on the bed. Fully naked, I lay beside him, hugging him from behind, starting the magic with my hands. But I was so wrong, he woke up instantly and kicked me out of his bed like a troublesome fly.
My plan needs some adjustment if I want to reach my goal.
Using love as bait won't help anymore, I have to find another way to force a mating with Enrick. I have to think hard, but at this moment, my head is on Drina and the challenge she threw at me. From the faces of the other pack members, I know that if I make a move now, it will not be a battle between the two of us only. All warriors will join her side, I already hear some of them addressing her as the Luna Queen. And now that this scum, Andre, froze my powers, accepting Drina's challenge would mean my only death for me. And I'm not ready to die yet, I must avenge Giles first.
“Hey baby. Please leave Drina alone. Come here, I know something fun to do to put you at ease.” Clark steps into my room and extends his hand to me. I swallow my anger, Clark is really my only partner here. No one is kind and more hospitable to me than him. And I urgently need a friend in this pack to help me stay close to Drina and her mate to execute my plan effectively.
I smile at the Gamma and place my hand in his.
We walk out of my apartment but don't take the elevator. He takes me to the back of the Alpha floor, where some stairs are again. We descend them and end up in a huge garage. “Let's blow off some steam. A good midnight race will do us good," he indicates. He takes me to an expensive Bugatti and helps me get in. Seconds later, he is behind the wheel.
The engine of the sports car is roaring like an angry tiger, ready for an intense job. We head to the back entrance. It is pitch dark on this dirt road. “We take the emergency exit to the main road. It's not in perfect condition, we purposely never cemented it to slow down any pursuers," he tells me.
Carefully we continue our trip until we arrive at the pack border.
But then suddenly, in the car's lights, we see a child sitting on a rock. Looks like she's waiting for something. But when the lights fully focus on her, she runs off into the woods. I blink my eyes a few times, I can't believe I have just seen a pup run away this late. “Clark!” I exclaim. “Have you seen the pup? Or am I hallucinating?” I ask the man next to me.
When I look at him, he is also staring ahead in amazement.
“Yes, I've seen her. And if I'm not mistaken, that was Erina. What business did she have here in the dark?” he questions in a daze. "Let me inform Jace that I saw her here." His eyes become blurry, a sign that he is engaged in the mind link. After a minute, he is back with me. He stretches his head to see more of the girl, but she's already gone.
“Why would Erina hide from you?” I ask him. "Wouldn’t she instead be happy to meet you again?" Clark shakes his head. “Jace and some warriors are on their way. I leave this case to him and the head warrior.” And with that, he speeds the sportscar past the border. When we get to the main road, Clark pumps hard on the gas, allowing the engine to roar loudly. Then we race down the road at top speed. Clark is clearly an experienced driver so I take this opportunity to relax in my seat. I go in a comfortable position, ready for a short nap in the leather seat. We left the windows open to get some fresh air into the car.
A smile crosses my face as I enjoy the wonderful moment.
“Alcina, I advise you not to provoke Drina,” Clark suddenly repeats. “Why don't you go low profile so all that happened this morning passes with time, people forget about it? Find a job at one of the stores in the pack and keep yourself distracted. Fighting with the Luna Queen is the most stupid thing to do, even if you're familiar with her. This pack is crazy about her, you’ll never be able to win a fight with Drina."
Anger bubbles up inside me.
So, Clark has no intention at all of trading his loyalty for love. He's more willing to see me hiding for that bitch than get Enrick to ban Drina. What was I thinking? That Clark would give up everything for me? Never mind, I've always been on my own and now I don't need anyone to help me anyway. “Hmmm, if I remember correctly, it was she who entered my apartment without permission to get my clothes. And burn them, designer clothes worth ten thousand dollars!”, I replied sourly. "I really want to know in which way I provoked her, Clark," I state aggressively.
Clark sighs.
“Avoid trouble, Alcina. Please! Remember you are just a guest and Drina the Luna Queen. Nothing will change for the time being," he warns again.
And then a plan starts to form in my head.
This adjustment to my plan should work. The pup is Jace's mate. If Clark's words are true, Jace and Enrick are best friends. I quickly connect the dots.
I start to yawn loudly, a sign to Clark that I am tired and want to sleep. After my second yawn, he gets the hint. “I notice you need your bed. The cold wind in your face is making you sleepy.” He turns the vehicle and we head back to the pack.
When we reach the parking lot, Clark turns to me. “Promise me you'll avoid Drina, Alcina. Tensions between the two of you will not work in your favor,” he urges me. “Sure,” I reply as I jump out of the vehicle.
We get out and walk towards the packhouse. Out of the corner of my eye, I watch where he stores the car keys. And yes, there is a key-box behind the door. Pretending to pay no attention to his actions.
And when he turns back to me, we walk up the stairs.
At my door I say goodbye to Clark and take a few steps inside my apartment. I hear him walking away in the corridor.
And now it's my turn to be the staring in this fairy tale about the Kingdom...
