My baby
Arabella felt like a monster, she should have inquired before jumping to a conclusion, she just caused an innocent girl and her son their child. Her heart aches, she shouldn't have come back.
"How did you find out about my marriage with Amaya?" Mason asked coldly, his red eyes peering into his mother's.
"Sophie called and she told me about it" Alex's mouth twitched, his fingers folded into a fist. He was about to say something when the door to the emergency room was opened and an unconscious Amaya was pushed out of the room.
Her family rushed to her side, Bello touched his little sister's face he couldn't fight the tears that pricked his eyes. "When she wakes up and is discharged, we are taking her back home. Since she came here it has been nothing but unless suffering for her." Blossom as he looked at Mason and his family with hate in his eyes.
Lydia felt a thug on her chest when she saw the look in his eyes. "Both of you calm down, this is not your decision to make it is Amaya's. My daughter just lost her child, the least you can do is let her recover first, and don't forget Mason also lost a daughter" Amaya's mother said.
Amaya was wheeled to a VIP room by a nurse. Mason was beside her throughout her unconscious state.
Amaya groaned softly, her body felt too heavy for her to lift, fingers were the only part of her body that was light so she moved them.
"Amaya honey" she heard a familiar voice, she tried opening her eyes but it felt impossible for her to lift her eyelids.
Mason held her hands when he saw her fingers move, he called out to her but it seems she was finding it difficult to move "call the doctor" he yelled
She fought the fatigue with difficulty but she was able to overcome it. Her eyes flew open, and the first thing she saw was the white ceiling of the hospital room, the pungent smell of antiseptic wafting through her nose reminding her that she is in a hospital.
"Amaya?" She heard her husband's worried voice but she didn't answer him her throat felt dry and sore.
She just stared at Mason with teary eyes, flashes of what happened hours ago in the emergency room came rushing in. Her baby, her poor tiny baby, she didn't get the chance to carry in her arms.
She wailed uncontrollably "my baby" she muttered holding on to her husband "I want my baby Mason, bring me my baby please" Mason hugged her tightly in an attempt to comfort her.
The doctor came in, her heart ached when she saw Amaya in tears. She has been the one handling Amaya ever since Mason denied the male doctor and she has come to like her.
"Amaya" she called softly, she threw away her doctor coat and wore a friend's coat. "Calm down dear, this is not the end of the world, God knows best" she advised.
"But my baby was too small to die, she wasn't given a chance to see this world" her mother couldn't find words to console her, she felt useless.
Meanwhile, a nurse was assigned to prepare the child who didn't get the chance to see the light of day. She was cleaning the blood on the child's body when she saw a little movement on her chest, it was so light that she thought she was imagining it but the place moved again.
She ran out of the room to get a doctor but it seems none were around so she rushed to Amaya's room luckily the doctor was still there.
"Doctor Nadia the baby, she moved her heart is beating" she rushed her words. Her words made everyone shut up
"Are you sure?" Dr. Nadia asked
"Yes Doc, I was cleaning her when I noticed the movement of her heart, it was light that I told I was imagining things but it moved again" George and Nadia rushed out of the room to check up on the child.
"I want to go with them Mason," Amaya said, her eyes holding hope in them. Mason wants to be there but he can't.
Everyone left the both of them and went to see what was happening. "You can't go there Amaya, you need to rest. Your body still needs to resuscitate" she shook her head
"I want to see our child Mason" seeing the tears in her eyes he couldn't say no to her. He wheeled her out of the room with a wheelchair.
The room was crowded with people, they all wanted to see her live. They silently prayed to God to make everything work. Amaya watched as they examine her child, judging from the rising and falling of her chest it was evident that her breathing was normal.
Tears flowed down her cheeks as she watched them work. With a smile on his face, George announced "it's a miracle, she is alive and well, everything seems okay" a joyful noise filled the room, and tears of joy and happiness were on everyone's faces.
Amaya tried standing up but Mason restricted her from standing "not yet, you can't move for now." He reprimanded
"But I want to see and touch my daughter," she said looking at him pleadingly. Nadia carried the baby and handed her to Amaya.
"She's beautiful" she muttered...
