Chapter 41

*Chapter 41
2101 Woodpine Road*

**After Tatiana rushed** out of the kitchen Nikolai stayed seated. Mm, who could it be this early in the morning? Looking up at the clock in the kitchen, his head turned when he heard whispering.

Raising one of his eyebrows, Nikolai walked to the kitchen door and peeked out; trying to see what was going on. Nikolai saw that it was that guy that's always with Tatiana. He tried remembering his name before think his name might be Dimitri. Something else caught his attention before Nikolai could further wonder about why the man was here.

The man was cover in blood and it didn't look like any of it was his. He whispered something to Tatiana that was standing in front of him. Tatiana turned around and horror was written all over her face. The man’s green eyes lit with worry.

That was when the flashes hit Nikolai, they were short and blank spots were between each one. There wasn't much to go on but Nikolai remembered everything He needed to.

*ØFlashback×*
"Nikolai, you know me. I'll be the last person you expected to be but still somewhere in that mind of yours you thought there was a possibility that I have a criminal record." The girl said
"Why can't you just give me your name and get it over with," I asked
"So she got arrested and the kingdom feared her for she was only 16 years old and had already killed a man" The continued her story
"The girl went to jail for 2 years before her boss who was extremely rich got her out on parole
"Wait so you're the girl they talked about on the news," I asked and she nodded "And you go to my school right?"
It was either Mari Den Goats or Tatiana.
"You got me!" she grinned with a dark glint in her eyes
The green eyes that made my stomach turn in a good way, the eyes that held mystery.
"Are you happy now that you know who I am?" She asked staring me in the eyes
"I'm sorry but you can't know about me just yet," Tatiana said before everything went dark.
*ØFlashback×*

Nikolai looked up at Tatiana, his jaw almost on the ground. "You, I remembered that night! You work for the mafia. You kidnapped me!"

Tatiana rushed to his side and placed her hand on Nikolai shoulder. "Please let me explain. It's not what you think!" Nikolai pulled away from her touch and slowly moved backward. "Explain? What do you want to explain? That you're in a Mafia? That you lied to me? That you are a liar?"

Suddenly the man cover in blood was behind Nikolai holding him so he couldn't leave. "Please let me explain!" Tatiana begged and Nikolai glared at her. "It doesn't look like I have a choice!" Tatiana looked at Dimitri and then back to Nikolai.

"If he lets you go, will you please listen to me? After I told my story you can leave and I won't stop you." Nikolai angrily nodded not saying anything and Dimitri let go of him. He walked into the living room, Dimitri and Tatiana quietly followed him.

Nikolai decided that he was going to listen to her story but after that, he was leaving. "You already know my story, everything I said that night it true." Tatiana started talking, telling him the truth and nothing but the truth.

"My father left us, I fell into the wrong group of people and I had nothing to live for. Then I met Silva, he took on the role of being my father when he himself was only 26-years-old. He and Grace had got married a few years earlier and they couldn't have children. I was like their second chance and they were mine."

Nikolai felt sorry for her but then his senses came back. He shouldn't feel sorry for this girl. She lied about everything and she kills people. He won't let her win him over. When Nikolai didn't say anything Tatiana continued.

"That night I joined the Mafia. They have protected me in so many ways, gave me everything a little girl could want. Silva gave me a father, a mother that cared when my own didn't. I was on a small mission the night my mother was murdered. If I was there, he would have killed me too."

There was sadness in her voice, but along with it was anger. Deep inside, she was still hurting.

"The police said it was a break in, that there were no traces of the guy, but they were lying. With Silva's help, I found out that Dallas worked for another Mafia and he was ordered to make the hit on my mother. It was apparently the mafia my father owned money to and I guessed he hadn't completed the payment and my mother had to do it with her blood."

For the first time since Nikolai met Tatiana, tears were running down her cheeks. Her hands were shaking and she looked tired. His tense body relaxed, still keeping his guard up but he showed sympathy.

"I found them, I found my father and then I found Dallas. I was going to leave it to the justice system to take care of him. It took 2 months before the police called and said there were no traces of evidence. They couldn't find the guy. This made me wonder why did I find him in a week but they couldn't, this made me suspicious. Apparently, the guy who ordered the hit had something over the police captain and he was threatened with his life."

Dimitri placed a hand on her shoulder as she wiped away the tears before chuckling.

"The police had thrown the evidence out; they let the guy get away. I couldn't let my mother's murder become a cold case because they lost the evidence. I didn't want to kill a man; I wanted to be in the Mafia to have a family, to have friends; not to kill. But I wouldn't let this go. I became emotionless, furious, and angry; I promised that I would avenge her death. That's what I did and I don't regret it for one second."

Nikolai looked at Tatiana and for a second he understood. Nikolai didn't want to but if his mother was killed and the police let the guy get away he would want revenge too. The only thing that Nikolai couldn't understand was how a guy could teach a young girl to become a killer.

"Silva made you like this. He made you a killer. He is a bad guy that kills people and the taught you to be a killer." Nikolai stated, angry all over again. Dimitri made a move to hurt him but Tatiana stopped him. She stood up straight and walked to Nikolai.

Tatiana glared down at Nikolai and stated, "Silva isn't a bad guy. He may be killing people but you know nothing about him." Nikolai chuckled sarcastically. "He's not a bad person but he kills people? He taught you how to kill."

She groaned in frustration "Silva kills bad guys. He kills men that rape and abused women. He was pulled into this line of work against his will. His brother was going to take over the gang he was just going to do the minor things. But his brother was killed in front of him."

Nikolai looked at Tatiana with disappointment in him eyes. Why couldn't she see it, Silva could have left the gang. He could have turned his back on the things that took his family away. "Don't you get it, Tatiana? I understand that, but he could have left, he shouldn't have taught you the things he had."

Nikolai stood up wanting to touch her, to make her understand. Tatiana pushed him back into the chair. "If he left, they would have killed him. If he left, the men that would have taken the gang would have raped women, killed innocent people. They would not have stopped." She shook her head.

"You don't get it do you? He never wanted this but he killed the men that went against him. The guys that killed 15 women after raping them half to death, he killed those men. He didn't just take anyone into his gang after that. Most of his men were in abusive families, living on the streets or just had bad circumstances. He gave them a better life. And he doesn't just kill people for no reason. There is always a reason." She tried to explain.

Nikolai wanted to understand. He really wanted to understand and not be disgusted by the fact that the woman he cares about is a killer. He wanted to understand her and what she was saying, but he just couldn’t get rid of the anger of being lied to.

"Silva didn't know I went to kill Dallas. He said I had to leave it. He didn't teach me to become what I am today. I took that mission on my own; I left and killed that man without asking for his permission. So whatever you think you know, you don't know anything!" Tatiana was angry; Nikolai could see the fury burning in her eyes.

"Tatiana even if I want to forgive you, I can't." Nikolai looked at her with sadness in his eyes but the anger was taking over. "You lied to me. Everything was a lie." Nikolai glared at Tatiana.

He was angry, no beyond angry. "Nikolai, I was going to tell you. It just wasn't the right time." Nikolai sarcastically chuckled and shouted at her, "When would there ever be a right time to tell someone you kill people for a living." Nikolai stood up and started walking around the room.

"Look, Nikolai, you were never supposed to find out this way. I was going to tell you when the time was right. When you knew that my past and present doesn't define who I am." Looking up at her and Nikolai shook his head, "I need time."

With that statement Nikolai walked out of the house, not looking back once.
