*Chapter 47

**"Tatiana!" Nikolai begged.** He couldn’t understand why she didn’t want to answer his questions. Nikolai was beyond confused. Tatiana looked at him with an irritated frown. "Nikolai, all you need to know is that was my father and I didn't know that Ava and I were related."
Nikolai groaned when she walked away before he could talk again. He knew that Ava’s father was Tatiana’s father because that was all she's been telling him since the whole incident yesterday.
It was quite a shock to Nikolai that Tatiana and Ava were related. Even if they were only just half related. He looked down the hall to see if he could spot Ava. Nikolai saw her leaning against her locker with Johnson, one of the Football players. He was whispering in her ear and she would giggle. Good lord, she really was a whore.
Nikolai walked down the hall to her and cleared his throat when he was close enough for her to hear. Ava looked at Nikolai and smirked before pushing Johnson away. Johnson shook his head and walked backward do the hall for a second before turning around. Ava's hand was rubbing up and down Nikolai shoulder and arm.
"Hey handsome, I see you don't have a puppy following you around anymore," Ava said when she looked around him to see if she could see Tatiana. Ava grinned before saying, "Does this mean we can finally get back together?"
Nikolai sighed and shook his head before pushing Ava’s hand off his shoulder "No, Tatiana and I are still together." Ava frowned before fury flashed in her eyes. "Seriously, what do you see in that brat, she isn't even good-looking. I mean why would you choose that over me? It's like choosing to drink vinegar over water?"
Nikolai raised an eyebrow at her and she growled. "That bitch took everything from me!" Ava shook her head violently and looked around the hall. "First my father, then you. What is next? My friends, my school, and my crown?" Nikolai placed his hands on her shoulders and shook Ava a bit.
"Why do you say she stole your father?" Ava looked at Nikolai like he was an idiot before shaking her head. Sadness flashed over her expressing before it quickly disappeared. "Meet me on the bleachers, lunchtime." Before Nikolai could say no Ava walked away.
When it was lunch he walked to the football field's bleachers and waited for Ava. Nikolai didn't wait long before she arrived. We sat down and she was silent for a second before looking at him. Ava looked vulnerable and sad.
"When I was young, my mother told me my father had loose ends to tie and left her before knowing she was pregnant. She had failed to mention that those loose ends happened to be a wife and a daughter."
She looked around the field absentmindedly before continuing "After a while, my father came back and I was finally happy. His loose ends were tied and we could finally be a family again. But then like all good things it had to come to an end."
Ava looked at Nikolai and sighed. "I found a photo in his wallet. A photo of his wife and daughter. I had asked my mother everything about them and then stalked the daughter on social media." Ava stayed silent for a bit. The wind was blowing and the sound was kind of relaxing but also sad at the same time.
"Finally I was moving on and was happy again. Unfortunately that quickly, once again, come to an end when Tatiana walked into school like she owned it. I knew it was her the moment I saw her in the hall."
Ava cleared her throat. "Then just like she stole my happiness with my father, she stole you." Ava looked at Nikolai then back to the field "I thought we finally hit it off and that we could be more than just friend or sex buddies. But I quickly came to realize just how wrong I was when you started asking things about her and hanging out around her."
She shook her head and Nikolai saw her wipe away a tear quickly "Revenge was what I wanted the most. So I brought my father to father's day hoping to throw her off her high horse but she surprised me by not really caring and talking to him like nothing was wrong."
Ava stood up and cleaned the imaginary dust off her skirt and looked at Nikolai with a frown "That's my sad story. Now run along and go back to her." Before she could walk away Nikolai grabbed Ava by the arm.
"Let's just get things straight here. She didn't steal your father away since she is older. She didn't steal me away because I didn't have feelings for you to begin with and she pushed me away in the beginning. Tatiana is a great girl and I will not pity you because all of this is falseness. You're not going to get me to date you by making me feel pity for you because I don't."
Ava's face went from sad and gentle to mad and crazy. "What is so good about her huh? Yeah okay, you are right, that was all fake emotion but what does she have that gets you to like her and my father to leave my mother? What is it about her that makes her take everything I want and worked hard for without even trying?"
See Nikolai knew everything was a joke because, well... Ava isn't caring and doesn't cry. He knew that she was faking from the beginning. Ava would try everything to get what she wants even if it's faking a tear or two.
"The answer is easy. She isn't you. She isn't manipulative, bossy, arrogant, mean, and evil or anything you are." Nikolai stood up and shook his head. He had enough of this crap; Nikolai walked away and walked into the hall just when lunch ended.
As Nikolai walked down the hall he thought hard. Nikolai unfortunately really liked Tatiana and not just in a friendly or anything. For the first time Nikolai thinks he might actually really, really like Tatiana. Now that he knows that she feels the same about him, Nikolai wasn't going to let her go.
There was just something about her that pulled him in. She was mysterious and wild; she was dark but also had happiness and feelings somewhere inside her. Nikolai wanted to be with her but he knew she wasn't really into the whole feelings things. Nikolai also knows that she would never admit out loud that she likes him. He knew she wanted to be cold and have no feelings but Nikolai also knew she had a soft spot for him in that cold heart of hers.
He saw the real her when they slept together. For Tatiana, that night might have been just a wild night of steamy sex but for Nikolai, it was more than that. Sure it was sex and it was amazing but there was one time they did it, when they did it slowly – It meant something to him- for her, it might have just been for extra pleasure but for Nikolai it was feelings.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when Gabe sat down next to him. "Hey man." Gabe said slapping Nikolai’s back and Nikolai nodded, "Hey!" Nikolai realized that they were in class and that he was sitting in his usual seat. Tatiana was in the back texting on her phone with a serious look. Nikolai grinned a bit.
She looked cute when she was serious or even mad. Nikolai’s stomach made a back flip when she looked up at him and their eyes connected. She winked and he smirked at her.
"So are you going to ask her to the dance mate?" Nikolai looked away from Tatiana to Gabe. He frowned and looked confused, "What dance?" What the hell was Gabe talking about? Gabe sighed and said, "Homecoming dance? This Saturday?" Nikolai groaned. Fuck, he knew there was something he was forgetting.
"Fuck!" Gabe grinned. "It would be the perfect time to ask that girl out you have been trying to secretly crush on." Darnit Nikolai thought, Gabe wasn’t allowed to know that Nikolai actually had feelings for someone. Gabe and the guys would make fun of him and call him whipped.
"What? What the hell are you talking about Gabe; you know I don't do feelings." Gabe smirked at Nikolai and shook his head. "Don't even try to deny it Nick, I know you better then you know yourself. You like Tatiana, and I mean like-like." Gabe said like-like while wiggling his eyebrows.
Damn, Nikolai forgot Gabe was like his brother. They knew everything about each other and could tell when something was up with each other. "Yeah okay fine. So I've been crushing on Tatiana but don't tell the other guys." Nikolai looked at Tatiana, who sat in the back of the classroom, "She doesn't really do feelings either Gabe."
Gabe looked around the room then back to Nikolai "Okay so I'll help you ask her to the dance if you help me ask Olivia. Between you and me I've been crushing on her the whole year and couldn't be happier when she and that Phillip jack-ass broke up."
Nikolai chuckled and nodded before shaking Gabe’s hand, "Deal"

Nikolai quickly sat down in the library and started writing the letters. Gabe had left to go get everybody he needed. When they arrived Nikolai started talking, "Thanks for coming guys. I need your help." They nodded and Nikolai quickly gave them each a letter and a coloured square.
"Don't read those. Tomorrow I want you guys to do me a big favour." Nikolai told them the instructions and where they should be. He really hope this works out.
