New and Old Foes

I placed my hand over his. My heart slammed forward as my eyes connected with his.
“What… what do you mean?”
The corners of his mouth lifted, “I’m not sure but it’s breathing.”
“Dean you don’t mean… we’ve been careful, right?”
He barked out a laugh, “I would love it if it was a pup, but it isn’t.”
“How do you know?”
“A pup has a heartbeat.”
“I mean how do you know there’s something inside me?”
“Oh, right. I can feel it.”
“That’s weird,” I said and placed my hand over his. “What do you think it is?”
Dean shook his head and pulled his hand back. “Nothing. Let’s forget it. Let’s do something else.”
“Like what, Babe?”
He slipped from under me and traded places with me. Dean always had to have control. He positioned himself between my thighs before sinking his teeth into my flesh. I clawed his arms and shut my eyes.
“I can think of a few things,” he whispered in my ear.
“Yeah?”
Dean smirked, “Yeah.” He climbed off me.
“Where are you going?”
“Scared I’ll leave you hanging? Oh Layla, I’m not a tease.”
He slapped my hips before hoisting them up. He stared intently at my swollen bud. I swallowed and stared at the ceiling. My heart lurched forward anticipating his touch whatever he would use.
“So beautiful,” he whispered.
He flicked my clit tenderly and chuckled.
I groaned, “It isn’t funny.”
“It’s not,” he laughed. “Goddess…”
He pulled me up so my ass was in the air and my thighs were in his arms.
“Take it off Layla,” Dean ordered.
I pulled my dress over my head. Dean lay me down but held his post between my legs. It wasn’t long before his nose made contact with my clit. I arched my back and fisted the sheets as Dean’s tongue traced my entrance.
The feelings of his beard against my entrance set me on fire. I ground myself against him. I craved more. Dean’s movement was slow and punishing.
“Faster Dean… faster!”
He smiled and pulled back. What the hell?
The welcoming feel of his fingers touched my entrance. I was so wet but it wasn’t enough to cool the fire between my legs. I needed Dean. His fingers drove through my wet walls. His thumb crashed on my clit and rubbed. More, I needed more. I cupped my breasts as Dean’s worked me to an explosive orgasm. Dean sucked on my clit as he drove his fingers into me. Unable to contain myself my body quaked with an intense orgasm.
I melted into the sheets when I shut my eyes I saw starts and that made me smile as if I’d had two cups of sunset blossom. Dean hovered over me. I thought he was about to claim his own pleasure but he leaned forward and kissed my forehead.
“Dinner?” He asked.
“You don’t—”
“You should eat. They fixed the kitchen.”
“Great.”

I changed into pink silk pyjamas and followed Dean downstairs to the kitchen. Gabe and the usual suspects sat around the new dining table that replaced the kitchen aisle. Killian and I shared a look. He picked up his plate and dumped it in the sink.
“I’m going to head out, goodnight,” Killian said.
Good riddance, I thought. Kenzie rested her head on Gabe’s shoulder. Maybe they decided to try things again. If Gabe was getting his pack back it would be good if he wasn’t alone.
“I’ve got to go too, I should check on Ginger,” Kenzie stood.
Gabe nodded. Kenzie leaned over and kissed his cheek and then walked out. Dean took Killian’s seat leaving me the option to sit next to Gabe. He looked pretty Jaded. Dean jumped into the conversation about local sports with Lyle, Dec and Bane.
I pushed around the potatoes on my plate. The silence between Gabe and I was awkward. I wanted us to get along but he was hot and cold. After eating half of my plate it seemed like Gabe was not going to initiate conversation with me so I brought up the one thing he could relate too.
“So when do you plan to go back to your pack?” I asked.
Gabe’s eyes turned on for the first time since we got to the kitchen.
“Where’d you hear I’m going back?”
“You’re not?”
He shrugged, “I haven’t made my plans known yet.”
“Oh, Jordan told me.”
Gabe’s brows dipped, “The social worker?”
“Yeah, I saw her today she told me she was helping you get your members ready to move.”
Gabe shifted in his seat so he was focused on me. “Layla, I haven’t spoken to that woman since before we evacuated the pack.”
“What?” Why would Jordan lie to me?
“Yes, in fact I summoned her for a meeting because she didn’t tell me about you when you were found. She never showed up.”
“I spent the afternoon with her. She told me about your plans.”
Gabe rubbed his face, “Something’s not right. Do you know where she lives?”
“No, I’m supposed to meet her tomorrow, though.”
“What time?”
“Gabe… she said she would send for me. What’s—”
“I don’t know. Keep your guard up,” he picked up his plate, dumped it in the sink before walking out.
Dean stared at me but didn’t say anything. Why would Jordan lie? She helped me when I had nothing. She tried to help me start my life over in a new town. Nothing about that was malicious.
***

The next day life carried out as normal. Dean gave me his support to help the pregnant wolves. I was on my way to Ginger’s room to see if she wanted to go to town with me when a beta stopped me half way there.
“Someone’s looking for you,” he said.
“Jordan?”
“She didn’t give a name. Do you want me to come with you Layla?”
I assumed the beta was the same age as much. I smiled and told him I would be okay. Jordan waited for me in the back garden the one with stone statues, a dead fountain and two stone benches.
“Jordan?”
This was my chance to learn the truth.
She stood staring at the fountain of a fairy she turned and smiled at me when I spoke.
“Did I catch you at a bad time?”
“No, no. I was heading to town but it can wait.” Perhaps I should have told Gabe I was meeting Jordan but it was too late.
“Good…” her smile slipped and her eyes drooped. “I need something Layla.”
“Like what?”
“Something important. I need it Layla. If I don’t I’m in great trouble.”
I shook my head and backed up. “Are you in trouble already?”
“It all depends on how you help me Layla,” she folded her arms over her chest and took a step.
I struggled to place her expression it was between irritation and desperation. She walked until she was right in front of me. In a panic I linked Dean.
“I don’t have anything of value.”
“Yes, yes you do,” Jordan snapped. “The hybrids tore that sorry pack to pieces and didn’t find the teardrop. You’re the last of that pack. It has to be with you.”
I swallowed. Jordan didn’t have to know about the new survivors in Eight’s pack. They didn’t know anything and neither did I.
“I don’t have it Jordan. Who are you working with?!” I demanded.
She shoved me and I hit the hedge. “Keep it down. You’re going to tell me where that damn stone it. The she-wolf after it won’t accept my failure.”
“You’re a traitor. You led the Dare pack into Gabe’s pack, didn’t you? You were the snake all along.”
Jordan lifted her chin. “There’s no good sitting with the losing team.”
“Those monsters slaughtered my entire pack. My parents, my friends!” My wolf jumped to the edge of my skin. I shoved Jordan several feet.
She dug her heels into the ground to prevent from hitting a statue.
“Give me the stone Layla. Your father was the Alpha’s right hand man. He watched the Alpha die. The message had to have passed between them.”
“Maybe you should ask my Dad, you can’t he’s dead!”
“I’m not playing games kid. The she-wolf isn’t either. Hand it over!”
“I can see the fear in your eyes. You know the wolves fucked up. The only ones who know the stone’s true location are dead.”
“Then you’re no good to anyone!”
She pulled out a silver knife from her back pocket. I gasped and dove to the right. Jordan jumped on me and aimed the knife at my throat. I grabbed her right wrist and left arm to keep the blade from my neck. Silver knives were outlawed in packs all over the world!
“Maybe knowing you’re dead will give her some satisfaction,” Jordan grunted.
“Or she could just kill you too.”
I raised my knee and hit her in the side. She yelled and fell back. I kicked her wrist and the knife fell three feet away.
“Layla,” Dean pulled me into his arms.
Gabe appeared second behind him. “Whoa, where did you get that?”
Jordan growled and looked away.
“You okay?” Dean caressed my cheeks. I grabbed his hands and pulled them down.
“I’m fine. She’s been working with the Dare pack.”
“Why?” Gabe demanded.
“Don’t be hypocrite’s boys. You have no idea what’s coming.”
“That doesn’t answer my question. Hundreds of lives have been lost!”
“She’ll talk eventually Gabe.”
A spluttering noise came from the dead fountain. Dean snapped me up and tucked me behind him. Black water spilled out of the fairy’s mouth.
“Gabe get back!” Dean yelled.
The thick black substance formed a person’s legs. What the hell? The liquid splattered everywhere and killed the grass. When the fountain ran dry the hour glass figure of a woman stood a foot away from Jordan.
“Dean?” Gabe muttered.
“We’re fucked,” Dean replied.
My confidence shattered.
The tar creature before us transformed into a woman with shimmering blue eye, pale dead skin and midnight black hair.
“Hello boys, long time no see.”
