Truths
**Angel:**
"That woman crossed the line with me, made her maids cross the line with me, and you are going to check if she settled or not?" I heard Haizel ask. I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes as I closed my book. I got out of bed and crossed my arms over my chest as I opened the door for the two of them.
"Alpha Dimitri, thank you for the room, it's lovely. And if you have any problem with me, Haizel, I think you can talk to me directly. Or are you going to hide behind your mate because you know you're wrong?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at her. I knew this was a trigger for her. She was used to people being afraid of her as a form of respect, and knowing that she didn't see that in me, I knew it was a shock for her.
"You called my daughter a bastard. Do you really believe you have any right to stand here in front of the Alpha and claim that…"
"You did what?" Dimitri asked, interrupting his wife. Her eyes glittered, and I saw the malice in them. The woman knew what she had just caused and what she was triggering, but I doubted she understood the cost of what she was about to do.
"Are you really asking that question, Dimitri?" she asked, shaking her head in question. "The woman was carrying your child while the two of us were engaged. You two hadn't even marked each other as mates yet, and even rejected each other…"
"Get out of the room." Dimitri said, looking at Haizel over his shoulder.
"What?" Haizel asked, frowning in confusion. His eyes darkened, and he let out a low growl.
"Take my son and get the fuck out of the room." He said, repeating himself. I was about to open my mouth to speak, but, thinking better of it, I let out a low growl as I went to bring my son into the room. Lowrence frowned when she went to carry him, and he looked in my direction, his eyes wide with fear as he waited for her for a second.
"Mama, help me." He said, and I ran my fingers through his hair.
"Go on, darling, don't worry. Haizel is just going to take you to the garden, and mama will be back in a few minutes." I said, looking at him. Dimitri was quiet, obeying me. And that was something I was grateful for. He looked at Haizel and embraced her to take my son, who calmed down. The woman put her hand on him and he looked at me, waiting for a sign that he was safe. I knew I should nod even though I didn't want to, and he took her hand while she and the maids left the room.
It wasn't until the door closed that Dimitri stepped forward, wrapping his hand around my neck, choking me. I growled, wrapping my own hand around his wrist, squeezing it, wanting him to loosen his firm grip.
"Who the hell do you think you are to call my daughter a bastard?" He asked, digging his nails into my skin. I coughed, trying to catch my breath as I scratched his hand. He didn't flinch, despite my nails cutting into his skin, and it wasn't until he realized I was loosening my grip that he let go of me, making my body fall to the floor as I struggled to catch my breath. The man didn't wait there; he grabbed my chin and forced me to look him in the eyes.
"If I'm allowing you to live now, it's for my son's sake. For the little boy who seems to know no one but you. But I give you my word, I will take your life if you think of crossing the line when it comes to my children again, do you understand me, bitch?"
"Am I wrong to call her that? The girl was born when we were married. You fucked the bitch…" he bared his canines at me, and I shook my head at him as I absorbed the warning. "I am not your concubine to be treated this way. If I'm here, it's for my son and only for my son. You can rot in hell with that mate of yours. But if she thinks of crossing the line with me, then I will break her in ways she won't handle."
"If you think of talking to her, about her, or even thinking of something that would hurt her, I promise to tear you apart in a way that no one will find your parts to give you a grave." He said, and I swallowed hard. The man growled as he released my chin, pushing my face away. I looked at my hands that were on the floor, and he looked at me as if I was nothing more than a piece of trash in his eyes. In theory, I knew that could be the case. The man didn't think twice before sending me away.
"You know, for a woman who received millions of dollars, you didn't seem to use it wisely." He said, making me frown at the memory. One thing he didn't know or understand was that I never used the money he gave me to sign the papers.
"You can keep it if you want," I said, getting up. The man frowned in confusion at my statement, and I walked over to my dresser, grabbing my first aid kit before turning to face him. "One thing you seem to not know about who I was, Dimitri, is the fact that I never looked at your money. I am the only person who looked at you, no matter how fucked up you were, I never bothered to check your bank account."
I turned to the bathroom before looking at him
