The Confrontation at the Hotel

Dimitri

The sound of my car engine seemed louder than usual as I drove towards the hotel where Angel was staying. Alpha Luke’s words echoed in my head, telling me to give her space, but I couldn’t ignore the urgency to talk to Angel. I needed to clarify things, understand why she had hidden my son from me. And above all, I needed to see Lowrence.

I parked the car in the hotel lot and quickly walked to the reception. My heart was pounding in my chest as I asked for information about Angel’s room.

“Sorry, sir, but we cannot provide that information without the guest’s permission,” said the receptionist with a polite but firm smile.

I couldn’t waste time on formalities. “It’s a family emergency. Please, just tell me which room she’s in.”

The receptionist hesitated for a moment before sighing. “Alright, sir. She’s in room 214 on the second floor. But please, be discreet.”

I nodded quickly and headed for the elevator. When the doors opened, I felt a wave of nervousness mixed with determination. I knocked on the door of room 214 and waited. When Angel opened the door, her face showed a mix of surprise and exhaustion. She was even more beautiful than before. “Dimitri? What are you doing here?”

“We need to talk,” I said, my voice harsher than I intended. “We can’t leave things like this.”

She sighed and stepped aside, allowing me to enter. “Keep your voice down, Lowrence is sleeping.”

I walked into the room and looked around. It was small and functional, with a double bed and a crib beside it. Lowrence slept peacefully, unaware of the tension between us.

“Why did you come here, Dimitri?” Angel asked, crossing her arms. “Alpha Luke said you should give me space.”

“I can’t just ignore this, Angel,” I replied, feeling my anger rising again. “You hid my son from me. How could you do that?”

She shook her head, tears starting to form in her eyes. “I didn’t hide Lowrence from you, Dimitri. I was trying to protect him. Protect both of us. And after all, you forgot you banished me?”

“Protect from what?” I asked, my voice rising. “From me? You think I’d be a danger to my own son?”

Angel took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. “No, it’s not that. But you were so focused on other things... on power, on leading the pack. I didn’t want Lowrence to be just another burden to you.”

“A burden?” I repeated, incredulous. “He’s my son, Angel. Nothing about him is a burden to me. I deserved to know.”

She looked at me with an expression of pain and frustration. “I know you deserved to know, but at the time, it seemed like the best choice. I was scared, Dimitri. Scared that you wouldn’t be able to handle another responsibility.”

“You didn’t give me the chance,” I said, my anger starting to give way to deep sadness. “You made that decision for me.”

She stepped closer, her tears now flowing freely. “You don’t know what I went through.”

We stood in silence for a moment, both absorbing the gravity of the situation. Finally, I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. “What are we going to do now, Angel? How are we going to fix this?”

She looked at Lowrence, still sleeping, and then back at me. “I don’t know, Dimitri. But we need to find a way. We need to do what’s best for our son.”

I nodded, feeling a huge weight on my heart. “Yes, we need to. And that means working together, truly this time.”

She agreed, and for the first time that night, I saw a glimmer of hope in her eyes. “Let’s try, Dimitri. For Lowrence’s sake.”

Before I could respond, I heard quick footsteps in the hallway. The door to the room was flung open, and Haizel appeared, her face a mask of fury. “Dimitri, what are you doing here?”

I turned to face her, surprised and irritated. “Haizel, what are you doing here? How did you follow me?”

“I knew you’d go after her,” Haizel replied, her voice trembling with anger. “After what happened tonight, I knew you wouldn’t let it go. But I didn’t expect you to run into her arms.”

“It’s not like that, Haizel,” I said, trying to stay calm. “I’m here to resolve things. To understand what happened.”

“Understand?” Haizel almost shouted. “You’re here to be with her, aren’t you? You’re leaving everything we have behind because of her.”

Angel stepped forward, her expression determined. “That’s not true, Haizel. He’s here because we need to talk about our son.”

“Our son?” Haizel laughed bitterly. “You mean the son you hid from him? The son you used to manipulate him?”

“Enough!” I exploded, feeling my anger bubbling again. “This isn’t helping anyone. Haizel, I already told you we need some time. And Angel, I’m here to understand, not to fight.”

The silence that followed was heavy with tension. Haizel looked at me, then at Angel, before finally letting out an exasperated sigh. “I will fight for you, Dimitri. This won’t end like this.”

She turned and left the room, slamming the door behind her. I turned to Angel, feeling the weight of the night pressing down on me. “This didn’t go as I expected.”

Angel nodded, looking equally exhausted.
