Sharing and Trusting
**Angel:**
"MOMMY!" I jumped when I heard Lowrence scream loudly. Antonia, who was listening to his bedtime story, frowned in confusion.
"Mommy, what's going on?" Antonia asked, indicating that he also heard the noise, not just because I was a wolf. Lowrence's voice was very loud.
"I'm not sure, but let me go check." I said, nodding to Cecilia. "Please stay with him. I'll be back soon."
I ran out of the room and followed Lowrence's voice as he cried in his sleep.
Two maids had already rushed in, and my eyes widened at the sight of him sweating, trying to run while sleeping.
"Get me a glass of water," I said, looking at the maids. One of them nodded, and I wrapped an arm around the boy, waking him up by gently shaking him.
He woke up gasping, and my eyes widened as he looked at me. I patted his cheeks, making him focus on me.
"Where...?"
"It was just a bad dream." I said, keeping my eyes on his. The maid rushed in with the glass of water, and I handed it to him, allowing him to drink. "You were sweating; you need to drink water."
"I was scared. He was going to hurt me, I had to run." He said, shaking his head while drinking. He trembled as he held the glass, and it wasn't until the door opened, revealing a panicked Haizel, that he jumped, almost dropping the glass if I hadn't been holding it with him.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SON?" She screamed, catching me off guard. I stayed silent, looking at the girl whose eyes widened before he winced as his mother approached us. She grabbed my shoulder, trying to turn me around, and I let out a warning growl.
"I asked you a question. ANSWER ME!"
Her voice made the girl's eyes widen and fill with tears. He covered his ears, and that was when Dimitri reacted, grabbing her by the shoulders and pulling her away from me. I turned to face her son, wanting to comfort him as my heart sank at the fear he was in. The boy was terrified while Haizel still fought against Dimitri to get to me.
"One of you, please prepare a warm bath?" I asked, not bothering to turn around while looking at them over my shoulder. "How about we get you cleaned up? Then, if you want, you can come and sleep in Lowrence's room? It's a big bed, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind."
"Who are you to decide what he wants to do...?"
"Yes, please." He said, interrupting his mother. His eyes were fixed on mine, and I nodded, knowing that scolding him now wouldn't do any good. I went to remove the blanket from him, but he was too embarrassed, holding onto it tightly, stopping me.
Haizel froze, not saying another word as she saw me nodding reassuringly.
"Do you want me to close my eyes? You can run to the bathroom. I'm sure the maids are ready for you." I said, keeping a calm expression while smiling at the girl. She looked at my face, trying to understand if I was serious. I had seen and interacted with him twice so far. The last time was him trying to play with Lowrence.
Only when I intervened did he agree to share.
**Flashback:**
"Now, what did Mommy say about sharing?" I asked, smiling at the two of them.
"But she doesn't like to play. She just likes to win," Lowrence complained, crossing his arms over his chest. I raised an amused eyebrow at them before kneeling down, looking at the two children.
"Hi, Antonia, I'm Angel," I said, and she smiled.
"Hello, Angel," she said politely, making me smile. "I promise to be good when we play. I don't have my own ball anymore. But I can bring my toy cars; we can play together if he wants."
"Do you both promise to play nicely?" I asked, taking her hand in mine while reaching out to my son. Lowrence looked at me, studying my expression for a second before nodding. "Then, if you both want, you can play with the cars. But first, I need to see that you know how to play without hurting each other. It's just a game, and even if it were a competition, you should never hurt each other over it."
"Can we agree on that?" I asked, and Antonia nodded. I looked at Lowrence, watching as he studied the girl's expression before nodding. I didn't even know how I was going to explain to them that they were siblings. But that would come with time. For now, we had to deal with things as they were.
"Okay, we can play," Lowrence said, and Antonia smiled. The two stood up, and I watched as they played while I observed them from a distance before catching Dimitri's scent.
"How did you do that?" he asked, and I frowned in confusion as I turned to face him, trying to understand what he was referring to. "Lowrence isn't the type to listen to anyone..."
"Sometimes, talking to them makes a difference," I said, turning to face the two children. "And that's all I chose to do."
**End of Flashback...**
I closed my eyes, hearing the girl run out of bed, heading to the bathroom before closing the door. I sighed and stood up, opening my eyes as one of the maids went to the bed, knowing it would need new sheets and the mattress itself would need cleaning.
"I didn't ask your permission before asking her," I said, turning to face the parents. "But do you really think she would be okay alone? I doubt she can sleep alone now, and the mattress is too wet for that..."
"She has parents..."
"She can sleep in your suite for the night," said Dimitri, stopping Haizel from completing her sentence. "I'll be out; see you in the morning..."
