Hidden Truths
**Haizel:**
"Did you see how she looked at you, Dimitri?" I said, looking at Dimitri as he walked towards the door.
The idea of him asking why he couldn't feel the baby was something that scared me. But I knew I had little time to play this game. Fortunately, Bella was willing to help ensure that my relationship with him was resolved. Now I just needed to get pregnant, no matter the cost.
"Haizel, the last thing we need to worry about are such small matters. You will take care of yourself and rest," said Dimitri, placing his hand on my belly. For a second, he looked down and then at me, my heart racing before I grabbed his hand, wanting to distract him. I connected my lips with his, diverting his attention from the 'baby' and my stomach.
He smiled at the kiss before pulling away to walk to the door. "I'm going to work. But I won't be long. We have a lot to take care of now that my Luna is with child, and the last thing I want is for you to end up exhausted while I'm away."
I smiled, and he laughed, shaking his head at me. "Antonia will be going to school soon, trying to sleep for a few hours. We can order lunch later; there's no need to be in the dining room with the maids today."
I nodded, watching him leave as a lump formed in my throat with the fact that he was still here. I didn't know how I was going to handle this, but now I knew that considering I was playing this game, either I would get pregnant, or I would use my backup plan, and I knew for a fact that the backup plan involved Angel.
Her eyes met mine as I turned to go back inside, and I raised an eyebrow as I held her son's hand, guiding him to the door.
"Does this look like a club to you?" I asked, and she took a deep breath, shaking her head while waiting for my response. "I believe you should inform your Alpha pack where you're going. You know, considering the fact that the Alpha isn't here, it's my turn to take care of things."
"I'm taking my son to daycare. I have work to take care of, and I don't need to answer to you first. If there's someone I should address, it's the Alpha," Angel said, wanting to pass by me. I wrapped my hand around her arm, stopping her, and she looked at me. Lowrence, who was beside her, hid behind her leg, and I was forced to remember that he was the Alpha's son. His only heir, the threat to my son.
"I'll allow this time. But only because your son is with you, and the last thing I want is for him to be scared." I said, and she sneered. "Next time you think about crossing me twice, I'll make you answer to the Alpha himself."
"You just worry about that child you're carrying. I'll take care of the rest," said Angel, pulling her arm out of my reach. I watched as she walked towards the door before going to my room. I was going to need to pay what I owed to the doctor and her nurses. The last thing I needed was one of them talking to Dimitri about this. And I knew it would cost one of my jewels, but I wasn't going to get the money from anywhere else, especially with Dimitri and the accountant monitoring all accounts.
I took the money and, placing it inside my file, walked towards the infirmary, handing it to the woman who stood up the second she saw me. Her eyes met mine, and the smile on her face told me she was satisfied.
"As promised; you took the first half before the act began, and now you have the second half." I said, and she smiled.
"What will happen next? You know you'll eventually need to start showing, and if you can't get pregnant, then it would be..."
"When we get to that point, you and I will make another deal. And I believe you trust that I will pay you generously," I said, looking out the window. It was the only window here, but it overlooked the front door. It was a strategic place for the pack doctor to see if any pack members were injured upon arrival or during training. It helped ensure they were prepared for all emergencies. And I knew it was often necessary in times like the ones we usually faced.
"It would always be an honor to serve you, Luna." She said, and I had to suppress a sneer in response to her choice of words. I knew she didn't aim to 'serve' me. It was simply the idea of money that impressed them. But then again, I knew nothing came for free. And if I were to handle this in a smart way, I would take things as they were, no matter how annoying I found them.
"Of course," I said, rolling my eyes as I turned to leave. "As long as you keep your lips sealed; I would trust that it was an honor to serve me."
"You don't need to worry. None of us will say a word." She said, and I nodded.
"We'll see," I said, opening the door. "Otherwise, you'll be dealing with the worst consequences. And I doubt you want to do that, do you?"
