Secrets Unveiled

**Dimitri:**

"I see," I said, tapping my desk twice while speaking on the phone. "Did she give you a reason why she’s selling?"

"Not at all, sir. She just said she wanted to sell," the jeweler stated, and I hummed in response. I stared into space, lost in some thoughts before opening my mouth to speak again.

"Don't worry about it. It must have been something she told me when I was busy," I said, opting not to press the matter with a stranger. He wouldn't know her reasons anyway. She wasn't foolish enough to reveal them to strangers. "If anything like this happens again, let me know before giving her the money."

"Yes, sir," he said, and I hung up. I kept an eye on my laptop, thinking, knowing I would need to look into this. Haizel wouldn’t sell the things I gave her without me knowing, and I certainly wouldn’t let it slide. If she needed money, she had the card she could use. If she needed cash, the withdrawal was easy at any ATM.

"What are you up to, Haizel?" I asked, voicing my thoughts.

The office door knocked, and I took a deep breath before calling out. "Come in."

Leonardo entered with some files. He placed them on my desk, and I raised an eyebrow in question, waiting for an explanation. I knew we had a lot of work today, but I didn't expect to be receiving files.

"These are the papers you asked for, boss. You requested the financial reports from the accountant regarding Mark. Locke taking over his father's place caused some confusion, and you know, we needed to ensure it didn’t affect us," he said, and I nodded. I still didn’t know how this man was going to participate in meetings and auctions with us. He was an amateur, and we all knew Mark never let him in on most of what he did. So, I couldn't understand why he chose to let him in the way he did.

"Ah, yes, the new mess to deal with," I said, and Leonardo laughed. "I also heard that Angel left early. She took her son and left. One of the men is following them to ensure their safety and, as you might know, to ensure she doesn’t try anything foolish."

"Angel wouldn’t do anything to risk hurting her son," I said, not bothering to look through the files. She wasn't like Haizel; I knew she wouldn’t mind playing her benefit for his. That was one of the main differences between her and Haizel. "But at least someone keeping her safe is good. There's something else I need you to look into."

"What’s going on?" Leonardo asked, raising an eyebrow in question. Being my beta and right-hand man, he knew he was the only person I trusted with everything I had. He was good at his job and my best friend. I knew what I was about to tell him would often be taken care of without me checking twice.

"Haizel sold one of her jewelry sets. The emerald one, to be specific," I said, and he frowned in confusion. He knew our women didn’t sell their things, not when they had unlimited accounts. But when they did, it meant they were up to something. "I want to know where that money went, to whom she gave it if she did, and why. She will be alert, and with her being pregnant, I don’t want to put her or the baby in danger. But let’s find out what’s going on from our side."

"Haizel is pregnant?" Leonardo asked, and I nodded. That was the last thing I needed right now. Although it was a pride of Alpha, with a woman like Haizel, I didn’t know what game she was trying to play.

"Yes," I said, looking out the window for a second. "We found out yesterday. Bella told me. I’ll need to take her to the hospital in a few days to check how the baby is doing, how far along she is, and how her health is. We’ll need to prepare things and the house as well. You know, with a new baby coming, there’s a lot to set up."

"Suddenly, we’re having a child every few weeks," he joked, referring to Lowrence and now Haizel. I shook my head, pinching the bridge of my nose. Lowrence didn’t even know he was my son, and I had no idea how I was going to tell him. Angel was trying to find a way to do it; I could tell from what I overheard when I passed by their room. I hated to compare, but I saw how involved she was with her son compared to Haizel. And I couldn’t help but wish my wife was a speck of what Angel was with her own son.

"Tell me about it," I said, getting up from the desk.

"Where are you going?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I have a meeting shortly. I’ll deal with these files later, and then we’ll decide how we’re going to handle things regarding Locke. The man is inexperienced and might be a threat, but there must be a reason Mark put him in his place. I intend to resolve this issue soon. It's one of the reasons we’re going to see Mark tonight."

"Does he know?" he asked, and I smiled.

"He doesn’t need to," I said, heading for the door. "It's just a matter of finding where he is. If it’s the hotel, then we’re fine. If it’s his house, we’ll have to handle the situation differently..."
