Chapter 34
"Penny for your thoughts?" Logan gave me a kiss on the side of my cheek and snuggled into me as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Man! You just scared me to death!"
When I turned around, Logan was dressed in tight black jeans, a black dress shirt, black boots, and his dark blond hair had been gelled and styled, making his blue eyes sparkle. I held my breath as I took him in.
He quickly grabbed my wrist to take my pulse, but I pulled away, laughing. "Nope! I didn't scare you to death. You're still alive."
I laughed. "Thanks! You know, I wasn't so sure about that," I teased as I handed him his coffee. "You look great, by the way."
"Oh. You're a life saver!" he said, taking a sip. "Thanks, babe."
I laughed. "You're a nut."
"I try."
"I'm sure you do." Then, I took another sip of my coffee. "You want me to fix you something to eat?"
He shook his head. "No; no time for that."
"And I guess that was my fault," I teased, smiling.
He kissed me lightly on the forehead. "No. It was mine." Then, he gave me a light, lingering kiss on the lips. "You were just too inviting."
I smiled against his lips. "So were you."
"Man, cut that shit out!" Mason said as he walked into the room.
"Nope!" Logan said, looking into my eyes as he spoke to Mason. "You're just going to have to get used to it."
I laughed as I nodded toward Mason. "Not a morning person, huh?"
Logan sighed into his coffee cup in mock exasperation. "You have no idea."
"Hey! Still in the room here!" Mason bellowed as he poured himself another cup of coffee.
"Well, that's my cue," I said as I kissed Logan lightly on the lips. "I'll see you later. Good luck today."
Logan smiled. "Thanks. I think we're going to need it."
I shook my head. "No. You don't need luck when you have skill."
He laughed. "You want me to walk you out?"
I shook my head, smiling. "You need to finish getting ready. You don't want to be late." Then, I gave him one last sweet kiss and headed toward the door.
"Come over tonight?" he asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
I shook my head. "No. Just come over when you're finished. I have a lot of shopping to do today."
Kyle walked into the room, dressed in his good jeans and a nice dress shirt. "Sounds like a typical woman."
"Wow! You guys clean up well," I said as I picked up my guitar case and gave Logan one last wave over my shoulder. "See you guys later."
"Hey, wait!" Logan set his coffee cup onto the counter, hurried across the room, and leaned out the door to give me a quick peck on the lips. "Later, then?"
I smiled. "Come over when you come back and I'll fix you dinner."
He nodded. "I will. You can count on it."
"Good luck today," I said, waving to him as I headed down the stairs. "And make lots of money! I want an engagement ring so I can tell everyone that I'm off the market!"
He laughed, holding his hand up to me one last time, and then disappeared into the apartment, closing the door behind him.
I looked up and then shook my head, smiling as I unlocked my car door, slid my guitar case into the back seat, and then headed toward home. I needed a shower before heading out for the day.

When I walked through the door of my apartment and leaned my guitar case against the wall, it felt empty. Even though Logan and I didn't officially live together yet, I still missed his presence in this empty apartment.
"Okay, Allie. You're being silly," I said to myself out loud. "Allie." I shook my head. I had never been called that before. But now it fit, it worked because of Logan. I knew that I should be enjoying my first apartment after finally being out on my own, but Logan was already everywhere. "Okay. That's it. Time to go shopping."
I quickly showered and dressed in my jeans and a pink shirt and matching high heels, and let my hair air dry
Without thinking about it, I grabbed my purse and headed out the door toward my car, excited at the prospect of having the full day off. I just wished that Logan could have been with me.
"No! Stop it!" I said to myself. "Enjoy this!" If anyone would have heard me talking to myself like that, they would have thought I was crazy. I laughed. "Okay. Time for some fun!"
The first thing I did was to go to Walmart to get a cell phone. Old habits die hard. After all, I wouldn't get the three million dollars from the studio until I got a bank account. At Walmart, I picked out a new cell phone, got some blue curtains for the living room, and then sunflower accessories for the kitchen. I needed to make the apartment mine, even if I was only going to be there for three months.
Three months. It seemed like a long time, but not long enough to spend with Logan.
I quickly pushed the thought aside and picked up some groceries, too-ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper and all of the accessories to make a few meals with.
By the time I was finished, I had blown a lot of my savings, but I felt like celebrating. Also, I knew that the advance from the studio would come soon enough. I walked out of Walmart, feeling very grown up and proud of myself. I could hardly wait to get home to set up my apartment before Logan got there.
On the way, I drove by a bank and decided that it looked as good as any. "Well, here goes nothing," I said aloud as I walked into the bank.
