Chapter 49 - A Little Slice of Fantasy

Time passes and so does the demand to see the Queen. Because Raymond has not announced anything for such a long time, the people have begun to worry and even doubt that she exists. And that's when people would try to hound Lilith for answers and she would tell everyone the same thing she told the servants in the kitchen. People are saying that he made it up so that he would not have to meet any more women and then of course there were a few speculations on whether or not he is able to perform sexually or if he prefers men over women.

Lilith wanted to hunt down everyone who says those kinds of things and put them in their place. It seemed that word of mouth spread just as fast as a post in the real world because she was hearing the same things over and over again.

Raymond of course couldn't care less. He was doing his duty as the King and he also had Lilith in his life now. She made him happy and so he was pretty content with the way things were. The rumors about him did little to upset him, no matter how obscure they seemed sometimes. But, when he would hear the occasional whisper about who his lover was, and the foul assumptions that followed, was when he was tempted to take action.

If it were up to him, he would have paraded Lilith around the castle as his girlfriend so that everyone knew who she was and not let anyone touch or even talk to her. Of course, the repercussions of him being involved with a servant would not be ideal for his image. But that was not important, Raymond was the King and he was leading the people. They did not have to like him or his choice of partners, but they did have to respect him.

One day, as usual, his mother burst into his office. About two minutes prior, he had Lilith trapped against his desk in a heated lip lock. The entire castle collapsing would not have been able to separate him from her, but his mother walking in was a different story and he was glad that they stopped when they did.

It was evident that by the look on Lilith’s face, she was thinking the same thing. As Nora stormed up to his desk, Lilith stood to the side, smoothing down her dress and hair, looking immeasurably guilty.

“Raymond,” Nora sighed. “Have you any idea what people are saying about you? I know that you do. So why aren’t you doing anything about it?”

Raymond gently placed his pen down and looked at his mother. She looked rather healthy for someone who lost their child two weeks ago. She wore an extravagant red dress with pearls and lace, her hair was done in big ringlets and her lips matched her dress. She had her usual army of servants behind her, lingering by the door.

“There are better things to do than worry about people’s useless opinions. There is work to be done, mother.” Raymond pursed his lips, feeling that they were slightly swollen.

“This girl that you have picked up from wherever you found her, has to be shown to the public eventually. It is not right for a King to be in this kind of relationship for long.”

“If things were normal then I would not have been a King and still had this relationship. It is the fact that I am King unorthodox and not that I have a partner who is not yet my wife.”

Lilith nodded a little. Impressed with his wording. He seemed to be equipped and ready to fight Nora on this topic. Probably having years of practice with the fact that she was the most drama he had to deal with in his life.

“Do something about these rumors Raymond. Or. I. Will.” She leaned down and whispered to him.

The next day Raymond announced that he was going to be spending time with his lover in his old manor before they got married. It was the perfect excuse to get out of the castle. Lilith did not see the point since no one would be seeing her but Raymond said that that was the only thing he was willing to do. It was only to spend time with each other and get out of the castle and go somewhere with way fewer people. Lilith could not complain about that.

Raymond made sure to get rid of all the servants that were there. He sent them all back to the castle. They were the last people that he would want to have in the house. If they found out that Lilith was his girlfriend then it would be a whole mess of jealousy. He was never in the mood to deal with such things.

It meant that they would have the entire house to themselves. This meant that Mrs. Potts and the rest would get a break but more importantly, Raymond would be with Lilith all the time. They would still have to eat and he was more than willing to assist Lilith if she so desired.

“How long are we going to stay here?” Lilith asked when she carried her bag into the house.

“As long as I want,” Raymond answered.

“So then forever.” Lilith nodded. “Got it. No complaints here.”

Raymond’s lips quivered a bit and then he busied himself with getting settled in the house he was so much more familiar with. It was not too big and not too small. It was secluded and there was a lake. Something he only really appreciated because Lilith made him.

“You absolutely cannot do work while we are here.” Lilith pouted as she approached him in his old office.

“All the papers here and old news anyway. And I only brought the really really important things. I promise.”

Lilith gave him a look. “You told the public that you were coming here to spend time with me. I included nothing about work. Are you lying to your people Mr. Raymond Cavill?”

The King walked up to her and ran his hands down her arms gently. “I don’t think that I should be obligated to provide such obvious information.”

“If it was so obvious, I guess I’m not that sharp.”

“You are very sharp.” He leaned down and placed a kiss on her head. “A lot smarter than anyone I’ve ever met.”

Lilith rolled her eyes. “Ok, now that’s a blatant lie.”

“It’s not,” He shook his head. “You are the smartest person I know.”

She chuckled gently and sank into his embrace. “You know what. I’m going to live in that fantasy for a while.”

His chest vibrated with his chuckle. “Sure.”

Raymond and Lilith spent the rest of the day tangled in each other. It was the most amount of time they had spent together in one go. And they were too wrapped up in their fantasy to notice that they were not the only ones in the house.
