Episode 20.

"That thing growing inside you isn't a baby, Elena. It's just a parasite transferred by Dean. He used you. He did the same to the other female wolves he mated with. They never truly give birth; they always die in labor. The situation is dire now," Mula cried out in anguish, as fear gripped Elena upon hearing this revelation once again.

"So, you are saying I'm going to die?" Elena managed to speak out after a few seconds of silently looking at him.

Mula kept quiet, pacing up and down the room, biting his fingernails in thought.

"Say something...! Am I going to die?" she asked with a louder voice, jumping to her feet as she approached him.

"Well, let me think!!!" Mula yelled back at her, startling her, causing her to shift a little backwards as tears streamed down from her eyes.

Her fears were already becoming too visible. Mula was the cause of all this. She looked away, heading towards the wall, falling against it as she sobbed uncontrollably.

Mula stared at her for a moment before gently approaching her and wrapping his arms around her.

"Hey, it's okay. I understand that I should be the one to blame. I made a terrible mistake abandoning you that night, but everything is going to be fine," Mula whispered to her, only for her to look up at him with tears in her eyes.

"No, how can everything be fine if I'm going to die? How can everything be fine?" Elena questioned, her eyes locked with Mula's as he gently cupped her cheeks.

"You're not going to die, I won't allow that to happen to you. How could I live without my true mate?" Mula reassured, wiping away her tears as she struggled to contain them.

"What are we going to do then?" Elena's voice trembled with worry and fear of her impending fate.

"I'm not sure yet, but I'll figure something out," he whispered, holding her close in a tight embrace to comfort her.

Alpha Dean's Pack.

Alpha Dean sat in the parlor with Max across from him. His expression soured, resembling someone who had just bitten into a bitter cola, his gaze fixed on the floor, his fists clenched as if poised to strike at any moment.

Max remained silent, his attention drawn to the palpable tension between them.

"I can't believe Athena would betray me in such a manner! Not only betray me, but also go to such lengths to keep my happiness out of reach, despite knowing how much I love Elena," Dean muttered in a subdued tone, his voice tinged with anger, causing Max to inhale deeply.

"I tried to warn you about Elisa's suspicions, but you were skeptical. It's reassuring to see you finally taking heed of my words," Max remarked.

Dean held his gaze on Max for a moment, then let out a sigh. "Besides that, did the woman reveal anything else? Did she have any information about what happened to Elena afterwards?" Dean inquired, to which Max shook his head, leaning forward and crossing his arms.

"No, she only mentioned seeing Athena and her entering the Club that night and enjoying themselves. Furthermore," Max paused, taking a brief breath before continuing, "She wouldn't have paid them any mind if she hadn't been present at the pack that night during your wedding to Elena. That's how she noticed their interaction."

"So she suspected nothing because she felt it was normal for the Luna and the gamma to have decided to go to the club that night. She didn't try to monitor them, and it was only a few minutes later that she noticed they were no longer around," Max explained, while Dean kept his gaze fixed on the floor silently.

He carefully pondered the situation so as not to misjudge Athena. She was still a very trustworthy member of the pack, so they had to proceed with caution.

"According to the girl, Elena wasn't sad at the club; she was actually enjoying herself with Athena?" Dean inquired, looking up at Max, who shook his head in response.

"Was there any sign of coercion between them?" Dean pressed further, and Max once again shook his head, gesturing with his hands.

"No, she didn't mention anything like that to me," Max replied, lowering his hand.

"But what is your personal opinion on this matter? If Elena was genuinely happy with her at the club, do you think she might still be involved..." Dean continued, but Max quickly cut in.

"Of course she could be involved! This shouldn't even be a major concern. Elena went missing just yesterday, and we've been discussing how she left the house without anyone noticing. Yet Athena didn't even say a word to let us know she was the one that left with her," Max said, taking a short breath, biting his lip, and continuing.

"Instead, she lied and teamed up with the others to shift the blame onto Elisa," Max concluded. "So, she must be fully aware of her whereabouts and could be hiding something." He added.

Alpha Dean nodded in agreement without hesitation. He was about to speak when Athena suddenly walked into their midst, bowing her head slightly.

"You sent for me, Alpha?" she said. Dean refrained from speaking to Max and instead gave her a peculiar look.

Confused, Athena frowned, glancing at Max and then around the room, unsure why Dean seemed so displeased by her greeting.

Sensing that something was amiss from Dean's expression, she nervously swallowed and averted her gaze to the floor, fearing his reaction.

"Is everything alright, my Alpha?" she asked, still avoiding eye contact as Alpha Dean tossed a ring towards her, causing it to land in front of her on the floor.

Perplexed, she watched the ring bounce and make a soft sound before lifting her eyes to meet Alpha Dean's once more, her heart pounding in her chest.

She thought Dean was about to propose to her with the ring. However, as she gazed up at Dean's face, she noticed the absence of happiness. Her eyes fell upon the ring once again.

Realizing that the ring belonged to Elena, she glanced back at Dean.

"Where is she? What have you done to her?" Dean's voice rose sharply as she opened her mouth to speak.

Unable to articulate her thoughts due to Dean's interruption, she exchanged a bewildered look with Max before returning her gaze to Dean.

"What have I done to who? What do you mean?" Athena responded, attempting to feign ignorance of his words.

"I won't repeat myself, and you won't like what happens next if I have to! It'll be brutal, I warn you!" He bellowed, his anger escalating. Athena realized it was futile to keep denying the truth, as his words made her heart race with a mix of fear and anticipation.

She fell silent for a moment as Alpha Dean and she gazed intensely at each other.

"Well, I made traded her," Athena responded. Dean was left breathless, looking at her, completely at a loss for words, just staring.

In that instant, he shifted his gaze to Max, who shrugged his shoulders and gestured with his hands, as if to say he had warned him.

Dean began pacing the room, clenching his fists, trying to figure out what to do.

"You traded her? To whom, Athena?" Dean inquired. Athena swallowed nervously before replying.

"To Alpha Mula," she said. This revelation caused Dean and Max to exchange glances once again, the weight of the situation sinking in.

"Now it all makes sense. I've spent my life building relationships with untrustworthy people around me. Alpha Mula...? And you too, Athena? I gave you everything!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with anger.

"You gave me nothing!" she retorted sharply, leaving him shocked. He wondered at her audacity to speak to him in such a manner. Had she forgotten who he was – the monster, the feared Alpha Dean – or was it because he had allowed her the freedom to speak in his presence?
