Episode 49.

"Ah, if she's already inside, I guess there's no need," Jared said, catching up to Elisa as they strolled and chatted together.

"You know, I was just coming from..." Jared was saying, but the conversation seemed to have caught his attention, causing him to fall silent, leaving Elisa standing with her hands folded, gazing at him.

"Yes...?" she prompted, indicating she wanted him to finish his thought.

Jared took a deep breath, swallowing his saliva in relief. "Sorry, I felt like I was choking on my saliva. What I meant to say was, I've just come back from a meeting with the Alpha," he explained. Elisa shifted her gaze to the ground, furrowing her eyebrows.

"I..." Elisa started, turning her gaze back to Jared.

"I don't see how that concerns me," she said, continuing to walk, with Jared following behind.

"It has everything to do with you," he insisted.

"Really?" she questioned, to which Jared nodded.

"Yes, we discussed the scout wolves," Jared explained, causing Elisa to stop in her tracks, realizing the significance.

She lowered her head, looking at Jared with her hands still folded. "So... what did the alpha say about that?" she inquired.

"To be honest, I was surprised to learn that you're no longer on the list. He mentioned that your case has been put on hold for now, and you will continue working by the Luna's side," Jared revealed. Elisa nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and resumed walking.

Jared watched her walk away, puzzled by her reaction. As she distanced herself, he hurried to catch up. "Aren't you upset about it?" he asked, trailing after her.

"Well, as you heard, he's the Alpha, and his decision is final. What more can I do?" Elisa responded.

"Stop!" Jared called out to her, gently grasping her hands and bringing her to a standstill. Their eyes locked in a deep gaze.

"Why don't you go talk to him, plead your case, and see if he might reconsider your position," Jared suggested, stepping back slightly as she took a deep breath, placing her hands on her hips and looking at him.

"Jared, what's bothering you? Did he say I wasn't chosen for the scouts because of a mistake I made?" she inquired, tilting her head, while he shrugged his shoulders.

"Then why should I apologize? My duty is to ensure the Luna's happiness. She's at ease when I'm around. What greater duty is there than that?" Elisa questioned, fixing her gaze on Jared.

Feeling disheartened, he realized she had already come to terms with the decision, possibly after a conversation with the alpha.

"Well... I had hoped we would do this together. Without you, I feel like staying here as an omega just to see you every day," Jared confessed, causing Elisa to widen her eyes in surprise.

His words caught her off guard; he was indirectly expressing his feelings for her.

"Are you saying you love me?" she inquired, to which Jared quickly shook his head, raising his hands in denial.

"No, no, that's not what I meant. I mean... I... I..." he stumbled over his words, realizing he couldn't deny it any longer. He nervously bit his fingernail, unable to hide his true feelings.

Elisa smiled warmly, watching Jared shyly lower his gaze to the floor.

Approaching him, Elisa gently placed her right hand on his shoulder, prompting him to look up at her.

"I understand, Jared. I know things haven't gone as you hoped, but that doesn't mean you should give up the opportunity. Are you tired of being treated like an errand boy? It's time for a new path, don't you think?" she advised, to which he nodded.

"Speaking of me, you won't always be away. You'll come back, and we'll meet here. This is the moment you've always dreamed of, and now it's here. Whatever happens, we'll still be friends," she said, making Jared smile as she leaned in. He anticipated a kiss but received a friendly peck on the cheek instead.

"It's okay now, right?" Elisa reassured him, but Jared stood with a hint of disappointment, hands on his waist, gazing at her.

"What's wrong?" Elisa exclaimed, as he forced a smile, hiding his true feelings.

"Nothing, really. I just wished it wasn't so challenging. If you were by my side, this task would've been much easier," he remarked, leaving Elisa surprised at his words.

She was taken aback to learn that Jared had been assigned a task as a scout wolf, realizing he was already making significant progress.

"Wow, already assigned a task? Does this mean you're leaving the pack tonight? What task is it, and which pack's territory was the Alpha sending you to?" Elisa inquired, to which Jared shook his head.

"No, it's not about that... I'm not leaving the pack. The Alpha hasn't officially made me one of the scouts yet, even though he promised. He mentioned this task is to test my abilities," Jared explained, and Elisa nodded in understanding.

"And what exactly is the task?" Elisa pressed.

"He told me not to disclose it to anyone, so you have to promise to keep it a secret," Jared requested, moving closer to her.

"Alright, I promise," Elisa agreed without hesitation. Jared then leaned in and whispered, "He wants me to spy on Minerva and report everything she does."

"Why would he need you to spy on Minerva?" Elisa queried, perplexed.

"I wondered the same thing, but I've come to realize that my duty is to carry out the task assigned to me; the rest is not my concern," Jared responded. Elisa pondered his words, nodding in agreement as she pointed at him.

"You're right, but recently, even Minerva's behavior has been peculiar. I saw her packing her things, and I was curious..." Elisa trailed off, but Jared's sudden departure interrupted her train of thought as he rushed off to see Minerva.

Elisa shrugged and decided to visit Elena's room instead.

Inside The Room.

Entering Elena's room, Elisa knocked on the door several times, but received no response. She made the decision to step inside.

Upon entering, Elisa was surprised to find Elena absent. She was certain that Elena and Dean were not on good terms, making it hard for her to believe Elena would be with him.

Looking around the room, Elisa pondered where Elena could have gone.

As she was about to leave, something caught her eye on the table next to the bed. Intrigued, she decided to take a closer look.

It resembled a piece of artwork, and she gently touched it, admiring its beauty.

A voice suddenly broke the silence, startling Elisa. She turned to see Elena standing there.

"Oh my Luna, I was looking for you since you weren't around," Elisa said, a faint smile on her lips. However, she stopped smiling when she noticed Elena's serious expression.

Elena's demeanor had changed, and Elisa couldn't understand why she seemed annoyed now, she's always free to enter her room anytime as her personal maid.

"Next time you come looking for me and I'm not here, please refrain from entering the room," Elena stated firmly, her right hand concealed behind her back.

"Yes, my Luna," Elisa replied, lowering her head slightly, sensing Elena's discomfort and decided to approach her.

"I came to see if you would like to bathe," she said, only to be stopped by Elena.

"No, thanks!" Elena yelled, still moving backward, not wanting Elisa to see what she was hiding behind her back. Elisa herself was confused, wondering what it could be.

"Now, please leave," Elena ordered. Elisa immediately bowed her head, hurried out of the room, and Elena quickly followed, locking the door. She then took out a bunch of keys from behind her back, breathing out a sigh of relief.
