Truth or Dare (Let's play)!

3 a.m; My sleep was cut short by my dry throat. I got down from the bed and decided to take a quick trip down to the kitchen for a jug of water. My body ache reminded me of the tedious walk I had done today. I walked with steady steps through the hall, careful not to strain my hurting muscles. Suddenly, my ears caught a sound. I froze.

It came again. I was sure it wasn't my imagination. What is it that I was hearing?

I made a reverse and rounded the other side of the hall towards Damien Jaeger's room. Alas, my ears were indeed not deceiving me; A grunt, a moan, sounds of sweet pleasure. My face squeezed in disgust as my ears caught the repeated sounds that were now playing in rhythm with body against body.

My blood rushed twice as fast in my veins as I thought of a clearer picture of what was happening behind the door. Damien was making love to a woman. 'No, YOUR HUSBAND is making love with another woman.' The voice in my head reminded me painfully

What was I to do? To smash the door and yank Damien Jaeger out of bed and land him a resounding slap for cheating on me? I could do no such thing because though I was married to Damien Jaeger, he was not married to me. The contract I signed gave him the liberty he needed. I mean, didn't it say he could try to have heirs with the other mothers of his children? And was my signature not my approval of such infidelity?

Why was I hurt though? Was it self pity? Didn't I declare my resentment towards him? Why then, was my heart bleeding?

'Maybe you're in love with Damien Jaeger.' The voice said. I drew back in denial. It couldn't be possible. No woman would love someone as heartless as Damien Jaeger, especially not me.

I walked back slowly, as quiet as I came and found myself back in my room and on my bed. The thirst in my throat was no longer there and was now replaced with something else- A powerful desire to shout at the top of my voice! However, I could do no such thing. I was not allowed to vent, I had no right to do so. Tears started running down my face and I despised myself for being weak. I coiled up on the bed without the heavy duvet covering my body and my tears soothed me to sleep.

Brrrr, brrrrr, brrrrrr; was the sound the alarm made. My eyes bugged open and the sharp sunlight pierced into them. I shut them back immediately, using my arm as a cover. Slowly, I opened them back and pulled myself out of bed.

"Wake up, sweetie. You have school today." I said, tapping Darcy and her dark brown eyes met mine. A grin followed.

"Good morning mommy."

I smiled at her and gave her a morning kiss before dragging her out to bed to get ready for school. I almost forgot that I was no longer working in StancInk until I was already fully dressed for the day. I was still in a sombre mood from last night. Along with it, was the soreness of my muscles which gave me an effect that was not at all pleasing.

I stood blank for a while. What was I to do now that I had no job to go to?

To become a housewife? I sneered at the thought of it. "I just have to find another job." I said aloud.

We walked down to the breakfast table and met it already occupied by Damien Jaeger and his other family. His eyes darted to me without him saying a word and they reminded me of my inability to show up in his room yesterday evening.

I took my seat without saying a word and ate my breakfast in silence.

"Don't get your dress all messy, Anna! What the hell is wrong with you?!" Ella yelled at her daughter, disrupting the silent atmosphere of the breakfast table. This was followed by a deadly glare from Damien Jaeger and lowering of eyes from Ella who continued reprimanding her daughter in an inaudible voice.

Darcy and I were done soon with breakfast and we got up to leave.

"Where do you think you're going?" Damien Jaeger asked me. He looked dangerous today.

I hesitated before answering, "To drop Darcy off at school."

"Darcy will be going to school with her sisters from now on…and the driver drives them to school."

I looked at Darcy and looked back at him, "Well, I have to go to work."

He chuckled, "And which work might that be?"

"My job at StancInk."

"You're not working at StancInk anymore, Mélie. So which work are you talking about." He said rather than ask. I went quiet. All the eyes on the table were now on Damien Jaeger and I.

How did he know that I was no longer working at StancInk? I had told no one about it.

"How did you…"

"It doesn't matter, Mélie." He cut in. His eyes had left me and was now staring into his plate.

I went quiet again.

"Well, I'm not going to sit at home and do nothing."

He looked at me again with a questioning look on his face.

"I'm going to look for another job."

He chuckled and dropped his cutlery on his half empty plate, "No."

"I wasn't asking you Damien Jaeger, I was telling you." I found myself saying.

There was a gasp from the table that wasn't his. I suspected it to be Natalie or the new woman; Stacy, but I paid no attention to it as my eyes remained fixed on Damien Jaeger.

"You will not step out of this house, Mélie." He said firmly.

I chuckled dryly, "I'm not a prisoner that you can tell what to do, Damien Jaeger."

By now, his eyes were burning with rage. I smirked sardonically to further agitate his anger. What was I doing? I had no idea!
Where was this madness coming from? I could give the same answer; Absolutely no idea!
I walked out of the dinning hall and made my way out of the house.

'Beep, beep!' The Range Rover said as I tapped the button on the smartkey. Of course I wasn't going job surfing in my Toyota Yaris; it was now in its rightful place in StancInk's parking lot. I had thought of this beforehand and so I had asked Damien Jaeger's driver for the key to the Range Rover earlier this morning. I guess this was one of the privileges of being a billionaire's wife.

I stepped into the car and slammed the door like I owned it. The gate rolled open without hesitation and I sped out of the compound.

"Game on, Damien Jaeger. Let's play Truth or Dare!"
