Doughnuts
The continuous ringing of the alarm clock annoyed me so much that I smashed it with all my might in order to stop it from ringing. I sat myself on bed and yawned loudly before tugging at Darcy to wake her up. After a difficult time of trying to get Darcy out of bed, we quickly had our shower and got dressed for the day. I abandoned my usual curling ritual but allowed my hair to remain resting on my shoulders. It didn't look too bad as I had very thick hair and still had little traces of curls at the tips.
Seeing my choice of outfit; A pink jumper and a white blazer along with pink sandal-heels and a white handbag, Darcy declared that I was a flamingo and we got out of the elevator with me still laughing at her comment. A single look at Damien Jaeger made me turn crimson as I remembered the way he took me up to my room last night.
"You look pretty, aunty." Anna said innocently and I smiled at her.
"Stop saying nonsense honey and focus on your pancakes!" Ella snapped at her daughter who quickly withdrew into her shell.
"I think she looks lovely today, or don't you think so, momy?" Stacy's daughter remarked.
Stacy glared at me with envy in her eyes. So early in the morning, her face was already plastered with makeup, "Just focus on your breakfast, Elena." She said to her daughter.
The 7 year old girl obeyed her mother and returned to her food with a mischievous look on her face, "I love that she never wears any make-up though." She said after some time and the toast from Stacy's fingers fell back into her plate.
"You're very pretty aunt Mélie." Elena said and gave her mother a taunting look. The innocent smile of her face didn't hide her senses. She was very aware that she had annoyed her mother.
"Of course she is. Mommy is like princess Cinderella, from my favourite book- Except Cinderella is a princess and mommy is a queen." Darcy added in a tone of a proud daughter and I noticed her comment had further annoyed Stacy.
Stacy swallowed her toast with difficulty and Ella smiled secretly at her friend. She was lucky that she wasn't wearing any make-up this morning- Except her false lashes and a tint of pink lip gloss on her lips.
Damien Jaeger finished breakfast and I noticed that he was still sitting in his chair, "Are we leaving right now?" I asked.
"You can finish eating your breakfast, I'm not in a rush."
Suprised to hear him say that, I shyly gulped down the remaining fruit juice in my glass and ate the rest of my tortilla bread with its fillings of veggies and meat.
I dropped my glass on the table after having the last drop of my juice and Damien Jaeger rose to his feet. He had been keeping his eyes on me as I devoured my breakfast. Did no one tell him that it was a bad habit to stare at people while they eat? I couldn't help but blush though.
"You wanna go in a different car?" Damien Jaeger asked as we stepped out of the mansion.
"What?"
He sighed, "You could drive your own car to work if you like."
"Oh." I exclaimed, not knowing what else to say.
We got into his Range Rover together, "Gray will bring a car for you later today. You can tell him what car you would like to drive."
"Thank you." I replied and moved my head from him. A sudden sadness washed over me. I didn't mind going to work everyday in the same car as him.

I walked into the elevator, deciding to go down to lunch with Rachael today. The elevator was occupied with a few other colleagues I had never seen before and we exchanged brief pleasantries with one or two asking if I was really the Boss's new PA. After getting out of the elevator, I made my way to Rachael's desk, finding her by the desk with Ken and one other woman I had never seen before.
"Hello, miss Shapman." Rachael greeted as she took sight of me.
"Miss Shapman." Ken said and extended his hand out for a handshake.
"Good afternoon." I said, accepting his handshake.
"I really thought you wouldn't make it." Rachael said in relief. She turned to the other lady beside her, "I asked Karen to fill in for me, Just in case."
"Hello." The woman who Rachael address as Karen waved at me and I waved back at her.
"You know receptionists lunch breaks are always on their desks."
"I know. It's very terrible." Rachael added but there was a smile on her face.
"And it's going to be the same today if we don't hurry down to lunch, Rachael." Ken said and we started walking towards the door.
We entered a restaurant a stone's throw from the company building and occupied the table close to the restaurant's entrance because Ken insisted on this when he adjusted his collar and comically said it was "In order to avoid getting lost in the coziness of the restaurant!"
"What would you like today?" A waitress asked, standing over our table.
Rachael didn't need to scan the menu, "A medium sized latte, some chips and some salty pretzels."
"A box of doughnuts- Chocolate of course. Two boxes please...and two milkshakes."
"Vanilla or chocolate?" Ken asked. I hadn't realized he was asking me.
"Vanilla." I quickly replied.
"One vanilla and one chocolate." He said to the waitress and she walked away, after scrambling down our orders into a notepad.
"Seriously, you made her order for her?" Rachael rolled her eyes at Ken who simply laughed at her gesture.
"Don't worry, Mélie. You are definitely going to love the doughnuts and the milkshake."
"That is if you aren't sugar intolerant?" He added questioningly, raising his left brow at me.
"Oh, no. I love sugary foods."
"Really? You look like you don't even take sugar at all. I mean look how slender you look." Rachael remarked with admiring eyes, "You do workout, I suppose."
"Uhm, yeah." I replied. I always tried jogging and some pilates whenever I had the chance to.

"Hmmm...the doughnuts do taste good!" I remarked, biting into my chocolate filled doughnut.
"Told you you'd like it." Ken said and munched into his, "Was the first thing I ordered in this restaurant, these doughnuts. And I've had it every single day ever since."
I blinked repeatedly at him, "Every single day?"
He laughed lightly, "Don't worry. Not every single day. But I do eat alot of doughnuts."
"Miss Shapman." Rachael called after taking a piece of her crispy chips. I turned to meet her gaze, "You have a little something here."
She pointed to her left cheek to show me which part of my face was food stained and I moved my eyes between her and Ken. Ken nodded in confirmation and a swoop of embarrassment sweptl over me.
"What is it?" I asked as my hand yanked at some tissues on the table.
"Just a little bit of chocolate." Ken said and I cussed inwardly. I had almost forgotten that I was a sloppy eater whenever it came to eating desserts.
"All better?" I asked, repeatedly wiping my cheek to get the chocolate off of it. Rachael nodded a 'no'.
"What?" I grunted and tried to remove more tissues when I felt one against my cheek.
"There. Much better." Ken said, wiping the chocolate stain with a tissue.
"Thank you." I said. His deep blue eyes were looking straight into mine without blinking as though he was searching for something in them. This intense stare made me very uncomfortable and quickly averted my eyes from him.
