A ray of hope

Roselia's POV
I heaved. It was time the Lady knew about the alpha.
"Come with me dear," I said motioning to her to follow me to my room. She did. We got to my room and I locked the door. "Come sit with me." I said holding her hand and leading her to the bed. We both sat down.
She had curiosity written allover her.
"It was forty decades ago when Queen Katrin, Lucifer's mother was married to Alpha Charles Lucifer's father and I was her trusted and youngest servant. She was married to him for years without a child and when a decade passed without her still not carrying his child, she decided to go the extra mile just to get a child." I said to her.
She stared at me paying rapt attention.
"Another year passed again and when she could not get a child from the moon goddess, she went to the witches of the night to get one. That was how she got Lucifer." I said to her and she gasped in shock.
"She told me that a pentagram was drawn and the witch she had gone to was a dark witch who communed with demons and not angels. The witch told her Lucifer would be created from hell and his life would not be like that of a normal child." I said to her.
"What..what did she mean?" Ashlyn finally spoke since I began to tell her about Lucifer.
"His birth stars would be filled with turbulence. His life on earth would be cruel. This is how he'd be if she wanted him to be her son. To be part of the Saunron household." I said to her.
"And she agreed?" She asked wide eyed.
I nodded. "That was the price Lucifer had to pay for his mother to have him. Do you recall when he transformed for the first time?" I asked her and she nodded.
"The reason why he could not shift was part of what his birth stars says and that the alpha would forever be unlucky in love and was best he abstained from it and only when he finds a werewolf mate would he be able to transform and be whole for without transforming, he'd be empty and without his mate to tame him, he'd forever be cruel. He transformed because of you." I said to her.
I felt her hands shaking on mine and I patted it. "The inner demon he was battling with was part of his cursed fate to attack any woman to stop him from finding his love and that was how he attacked Celine." I said to her.
"Queen Katrin confided all these in me and both her and her husband hoped that he would find his redemption quickly but Queen Katrin passed away before Lucifer could clock fifteen and Alpha Charles looked after him alone and prayed he'd find his mate on his eighteenth birthday but it did not happen either until he passed away and Lucifer took over your town and found you. His mate. His redemption." I said to her and she stared at me looking lost in thoughts.
Ashlyn's POV
This meant that if his father had allowed him take over my town all those years ago, we would have met sooner.
"When the alpha discovered you as his mate he was stubborn about it refusing to accept it. Refusing to accept his cure. You were his cure and right under his roof but he refused to accept you." She added and I remembered Lucifer's words while we were both underground. Now I understood what he had said and meant that day. He wanted to love me not because I was his remedy but because his heart beats for mine and now with all these happening, did his heart still beat for me?
"How am I his redeemer, Roselia?" I asked her. "How am I to save him from his own destruction?" I asked again.
"I believe you have done that my child. Only when the Laird accepts in his heart and voices it out with his tongue that he loves you would he be free from every curse attached to his living." She said to me.
"That means he's free from his debt?" I asked her.
"We cannot tell till the next full moon mi'lady." She said and I stood up and walked towards the window.
"This is why you cannot leave my dear. This is your place and no one can take it from you. You both belong to each other and not to another." She said to me.
I was not going to leave. Not now or ever. I was not going to give Celine the chance to ruin us no matter how she tries. Why did it even occur to me to leave in the first place?
I turned to Roselia. "I will not leave." I said to her and she beamed.
I walked out of Roselia's room and towards Lucifer's own. Now that I know everything, he'd have to hear me out. I would not give up on him no matter how much he frustrates me to do so.
I got into his room and saw him sitting on the bed with his head hung down.
"I believe you said you were walking out of my life? What are you doing here now?" He asked me without raising his head. He must be familiar with my presence to know I was the one.
"Well, my lord, I changed my mind." I said going towards him and sitting beside him on the bed.
He raised his head and glared at me.
"I'm not going anywhere no matter how much frustration you impound on me." I said to him with a smile.
"I do not need you here. The sight of you makes me remember what I'm finding hard to forget." He said looking away from me.
"Lucifer," I called him and reached for his face.
"Do not touch me." He warned through gritted teeth as he stood up.
I followed him too. "I have every right to." I said to him.
"Stay away from me." He said walking away.
"I will not," I said going after him. "Lucifer," I called reaching for his arm and he turned around to rant and I missed a step and gasped. He held my hand tightly pulling me before I could fall on the floor and I fell into his arms. I looked up at him staring into his eyes and I swore I could still see love in them.
He stared at me for a while and then let go of me. "Watch your steps and do not expect me to save you every time." He said and walked away.
I smiled as he left. I saw a tiny ray of hope in what just transpired. We still had a chance and I believed it with all my heart.
