Chapter Twelve
Mei:
You know when you get that sudden rush of adrenaline, then that hard crash once your body relaxes.
Yeah, it fucking sucks balls.
My body is screaming from every nerve ending possible, not the good ones either. The girls left after Amelia arrived, giving us some time alone as she checked me over.
Of course, handing me that little stick to piss on.
“Really?” I asked with an annoyed brow raised.
“Need to rule everything out.” Amelia responded as I slid out of the mountain of pillows, sluggishly walking to the bathroom.
I admit I had to pee, but I just did not want to deal with this shit. Rolling my eyes as I finished my stick peeing, setting the damn thing on the counter as I walked into the closet changing into my training cloths. I had pent up aggression I needed to release before I really hurt someone.
“I am going for a run. If you need me link me.” I said coldly as I was turning on my heel to walk out.
“You will sit your ASS down on that sofa and wait until I tell you to leave.” Amelia slammed her foot hard against the gray washed granite as I slinked over to the sofa as told.
“She is scary.” Moon and Kyou laughed as I rolled my eyes at them.
“Does she have to be so harsh?” I asked as I leaned my head back against the sofa.
“What do you expect, you're pregnant.” Moon softly howled as I snapped my head up in shock.
“What? We just had sex yesterday for fuck sake!” I shouted as I shot up from the sofa, flash stepping into the bathroom, staring at the little smiley face on the stick.
Howling from the shadows as I stood looking like a deer stuck in headlights. Amelia sauntered in looking at the stick, patting my shoulder gently as I looked at her with large eyes.
Pointing to the stick then to my stomach.
“Come on, Let’s take a look.” Amelia smiled as I followed behind her in a trans of Is this real? Am I dreaming? Wake up already.
Smacking my face firmly feeling the stinging radiate through my cheek, gentle heat touched the skin from the smack.
Laying back on the bed as Amelia fired her little Portable Ultrasound up as she squirted that cold ass gel on my stomach.
“I will make you a promise. This stays between you, Jack, and me until you decide when you want to announce it. Okay?” Amelia stated as she slid the wand over my once protruding belly, now expecting my next pup or pups.
Moon and Kyou purred gently as the sound of a fast-paced heartbeat filled the once light atmosphere.
“Nice strong heartbeat. I want to say maybe a week in gestation.” Amelia smiled as I closed my eyes listening to the heartbeat rhythmically sync with my slower tha-dup. tha-dup.
“I will give you some time alone.” Amelia spoke softly as she wiped the gel from my stomach, patting my leg gently as she slipped quietly out the room.
Standing slowly as I walked quietly out the room down to the nursery, glancing at Ben and Nikola sleeping soundly on the gray oversized sofa in the far back as Elias sat quietly with Micah watching dirt bike racing. Holding my finger up to my lips to be quiet. Elias smiled as I turned slowly thinking of the little life growing currently in my stomach.
“This has to be a dream. I just had the boys over a week ago.” I silently whispered running my hand across my stomach.
“No sweety this is not a dream. We are the spirit wolf, the rebirth of Lycan’s.” Moon hummed softly as she gave me a soft look.
“Could I have just a little normal time for myself to enjoy?” I asked as I slipped into the elevator heading out for a run.
Looking quickly, before sprinting out the back door heading towards the river. Shifting mid-air as the soft moist ground coated my paws, pounding hard against the dirt floor, heading to nowhere in specific.
The bayou air changing as the Fall solstice neared, smelling the crisp smell of damp wood, moss, and iron rich dirt. Following the river towards the cabin. Our little piece of calmness against this raging chaos.
Pounding the dirt harder feeling the cool crisp air flow freely through my wet snout, filling my lungs with the coolness. The majestic lake cabin breaking through the horizon as I neared Moon Lake.
Shifting quickly as the eerie crystal-clear water, framed the setting sun in the horizon. The cool water encasing my body as I drifted into the calm clear water, feeling the foggy stress wash away with each stroke. Laying back gently against the water as I floated freely, watching the deep canvas of indigos, reds, and oranges paint the bayou sky.
“Mei.” A soft female voice called to me.
Startled as I shot up in the water, scanning the now dark mirror water surface. Sitting calmly at the shore on the stone bench, a woman with silver-white hair, bright iridescent white eyes with soft porcelain ivory skin. Her pale blue chiffon and silk Goddess dress laid delicately against her curves as she looked at me with a warm loving expression.
“Child. Why do you doubt yourself?” She asked softly in link as I swam slowly back to shore, watching closely as she followed my movements with a warmth.
“Who are you?” I asked against the stillness of the bayou night.
Slowly emerging from the water as I squeezed the water from my long ebony locks. She smiled softly as she stood gracefully.
“I am known by many names, but I am Selene, Mother of Wolves.” She spoke softly as she walked around my naked scared body. Gently trailing her finger across the scar on my back as she took a sharp breath in.
“You are gorgeous.” She said as she stood back, capturing my gaze with a softness that filled my heart with a warmth that pissed me off more than before.
“Cut the shit! If you are the Goddess that we pray too, why the hell did you let me suffer?” I yelled as she dropped her gaze to the ground quickly, then back to me with a stern stare.
“To prepare you for the darkness of this world. You may be the spirit wolf, but it was you that fought to survive. Your wolves are just another part of you, but the strength to live is in here.” She softly stated as she placed her finger to my chest above my heart.
“Talk about a fucked-up way to raise someone.” I laughed darkly as she placed her fists to her hips looking at me sternly.
“You learned more than survival.” She huffed, rolling her eyes.
“Don’t lecture me about my language, you might be the Goddess of wolves, but I am me, Mei Rockwell.” I laughed as I sat down on the stone bench, leaning back gently to look at her.
“Arrogance will get you killed young lady.” She huffed lowly as she looked at me sternly.
“It has gotten me this far.” I replied rolling my eyes as I looked at the rising moon over the lake as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Mei understand that each wolf has a destined path, and you just happen to be the one to unite the entire supernatural realm.” She laughed darkly as she looked up at the night stars dancing gently against the darkness.
“Fabulous.” I huffed annoyed as I stood up stretching my body out.
“I came to warn you that something unseen will appear and you will have to make a decision, life for life.” She said softly as I snapped my eyes to her, but she was gone by time I turned around completely.
“WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?” I yelled into the darkness as the serenading crickets sung their chirping melody in the bayou breeze.
“Talk about speaking in riddles.” Moon huffed as Kyou laughed softly.
“Oh, now you Fucking show.” I replied annoyed.
“Not our fault, she blocked us out.” Kyou hissed as she sat down tucking her tail under her.
“Explains why everything was eerily quiet.” I huffed as I sat down on the stone bench having a silent romance with the Moon as it hung gracefully against the dark backdrop.
Standing up feeling weak from the emotional drain of everything, quietly walking up to the cabin. The smell of cedar filled the cabin as I slowly walked in, closing the front door heading to the bedroom. Grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge that Derek and Jack kept stocked for our getaways. Laughing silently as I crawled into the oversized bed, staring at the soft moonlight that danced across the wood cladded ceiling.
Sleep creeping in like a shadow across the floor.
