Chapter Twenty-eight

Mei:

“Now, let’s shop for three precious princesses.” Amelia laughed rubbing her hands together with an evil look in her eye.

“I know the perfect store.” Izzy chimed hooking Amelia by the arm as Riley, Milly and I did the same, laughing as Izzy led us through the beautiful autumn decorated streets of the Vampire Kingdom.

“I keep forgetting how beautiful the kingdom is.” I replied as we entered Eve’s dress shop.

Being greeted by the largest glowing smile as Eve scooped us all into a large hug. She looked beautiful in her red floral Fifties inspired dress with red flats.

“Okay, so tell me.” Eve giggled softly as she rubbed her hands together.

We looked at one another nodding in a countdown…3…2…1

“Girls.” We shouted excitedly watching Eve’s face light up like the fourth of July.

“YES!” Eve jumped up, fisting the air as she spun around quickly.

“Tay keep an eye on the store. I will be at the “Twinkling Star”.” Eve said to the young purple haired girl, nodding her head excitedly as we followed Eve through the dress shop, through a door into another store.

Loud gasps as we took in the whimsical store of baby items. Riley ran over to this little pink tule skirt with glittery writing saying, “Mama’s Star”. Moon and Kyou hummed in delight when I spotted this little white and purple dress with a cute little white wolf playing with a star.

“Oh, my Goddess! How cute is that” Milly said as she pointed to the dress I was holding up to my stomach. Tears started rolling freely as I felt my chest tighten unable to catch my breath.

“Mei sweetheart sit down breathe deeply, and slowly release. Okay.” Amelia said as Eve grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler behind the wall decorated with cute little girlie shoes, and accessories. Moon and Kyou hummed sweetly at the image.

I nodded my head, taking the water from Eve, who started rubbing my back in this hypnotizing motion, feeling my body relax deeply.

“Good. It is a lot to take in. I understand that.” Eve laughed as the girls smiled brightly.

“I just had the boys, the girls did the nursery, now I am having a girl.” I exhaled calming my heartbeat that was an Indy racecar screaming through the open country.

“Why do you think we designed the nursery the way it is. We planned for it to be used universally.” Amelia smiled as she cupped my hands in hers while Izzy rubbed my back soothing the Indy car racer to a pace car.

After my sudden panic attack subsided, we went crazy in the store, laughing and carrying on. We ended up buying one of everything, so we could match the girls. I felt this sudden pang in my heart as I realized not only are Riley and Milly my sisters-in-law, but siblings I always wanted. Fourteen years of Hell is a long time to think about the “What if’s” and I was actually experiencing the “What if’s” I had always imagined.

“Mei sweetheart. You okay?” Eve asked as she motioned me to sit down, while the girls grabbed us some iced coffees at the little café next door.

“I’m scared Eve. I spent all that time being tortured, fighting, trained to kill, and all I ever thought about was the “What if’s” and now.” I said angry holding my hand up, pointing around the store.

“I understand. It is not the “What if’s” that are bothering you, but the thoughts of those children who did not survive. Am I correct?” Eve asked sweetly as she held my hand, stroking her thumb over my knuckles.

I stared at the soft flecks of glitter mixed into the finished concrete flooring as her words stirred deeply in my heart. Dropping my head onto her shoulder, sobbing as she held me tightly stroking my ebony hair that now was tinted silver.

“Honestly, Eve, I should not be here. I should be dead along with all those other children that Titan and Raven tortured for their sick ideal of a perfect fighter. Victor was just another puzzle piece that fell into their scheme.” I spoke harshly between sobs as Eve cupped my face, wiping away the tears that stained my cheeks raw.

“No Mei. Those children may have died for some ones sick ideal, but the Goddess Selene has a plan designed for each one of those children. Maybe the three precious girls that are growing at this very moment are those same souls waiting to be born again, into a better world that you and Jack, along with the rest of Demon Wolf, and the other Realms have created. Just like Nikola and Micah.” Eve spoke softly with a strong conviction as she hugged every doubt I had, away with those words.

“My sister and brother knew of that plan, being the Spirit Wolf. You and Lexi are just like them, but stronger. I see something in you both, that no one can touch.
Untainted true love.” Eve brushed the last tear away as the girl’s laughter sang loudly as they walked in with cute decorated cups of iced coffee.

“Thank you, Eve.” I spoke softly as I gave her a peck on the cheek as we stood up smiling at Riley licking the whipped cream from her nose.

“Should we torture the guys some more, or should we head back?” Amelia laughed as she handed me my iced Chi tea with extra cream.

“I think they have stewed long enough.” I laughed as Eve gave us one final hug and kiss before Izzy “poofed” us back into the south garden.

“Okay. I am going to go soak in a hot bath and enjoy my Chi tea.” I said waving to the girls as I walked into the house, hearing the twins laughing loudly from the rec-room as loud gun fire and explosions vibrated the hallway.

The twins were in their bouncing seats as the guys were playing some video game on the large drop-down screen.

“Starting them early I see.” I laughed as I leaned against the doorframe, smiling as three handsome smiles caught my gaze as the Watchmen laughed elbowing one another.

“Desmond and Dominic had some business to take care of, and we had some free time.” JR smirked evilly as Max and Seth looked over the back of the large cream-colored sofa.

“I am going to go soak for a little, my feet are killing me.” I laughed as I held up my cup turning to head upstairs.

Eve’s words brought a sense of calm to my chaos of emotions as I climbed the stairs sipping on my Chi tea. A hard-stabbing pain shot through my body as I fell to my knee, holding onto the railing. My body felt like it was on fire with boiling acid as I cried out, clenching my stomach.

“JR.” I weakly cried in link as I felt my body fall backwards, tumbling down the three flights of stairs I had climbed.

Landing roughly on the hardwood floors, my Chi tea splattering across the floor.

Loud footsteps sounded as I felt my consciousness slipping away.

“OH FUCK! MEI!!” Three loud voices shouted as I weakly stretched my hand towards them.

Darkness taking control…
