Chapter Thirty-nine
Max:
Samuel’s words stuck on repeat in my head as I finished off the third bottle of whiskey, leaning against Jack’s office wall in the back corner. The floor-to-ceiling window allowing the Moon’s haunting glow dance across the floor, just barely touching my feet. Closing my eyes as I popped opened the next bottle blindly swigging from it, releasing a low harsh breath.
Vance ended up being a pain in the ass, and useless. Ella is one crazy Elder. I swore we saw horns grow from that woman’s head, when she sliced Vance’s ear points off, meaning he was no longer Fairy, but a mere servant to the Council.
Vance cried like a baby, telling us how Jonah used his sister Victoria threatening to turn her into a sex slave, if he did not obey Jonah’s every word. He said Alexi was even worse, and the club was his cover for underground sex trafficking in supernatural shifters. That was the cherry on top of this entire fucked situation.
“Fuck! It smells like a Damn distillery in here.” Jack huffed annoyingly as he laid eyes on me, swigging away at the whiskey.
“Mabe we shoud inves in one.” I slurred laughing as he slid down the wall next to me, grabbing his own bottle.
Clanking the heavy glass bottles as we took our time basking in the Moon’s teasing light.
“The pups?” I asked leaning my head sideways to look at Jack’s firm, chiseled jawline, and almost perfect nose.
“Xander and Amelia have them.” Jack laughed lightly as he took another swig of his whiskey as he reached into the bottom drawer of his desk.
“Wha that.” I asked feeling the boozy sway of the room as Jack popped open a small vial of clear liquid.
“A little extra punch. Distilled wolfsbane, adds an extra punch to the whiskey.” Jack laughed as he dumped the whole vial into the bottle, giving it a quick one, two shakes with his thumb as the cork.
“Tat good.” I huffed laughing as he gave me a side wink, downing half the bottle in two solid chugs.
We sat silently staring out the window as the effects of the whiskey slowly crept up like a stalking predator. Jack released a deep growl as he punched the floor between his legs.
“Wha ou thinkin.” I asked with a drunken slur side glancing him looking lost.
“Everything. Ever since Mei entered the picture, it has been one fucked up thing after another, and she does not deserve that.” Jack huffed as he closed his eyes, chugging the remainder of the bottle chucking it over the desk at the door.
“Undrstan tat.” I replied as a loud bang snapped us out of our drunken haze.
“We leave you alone for what…three hours and you are both shits faced.” Lexi yelled as Eli followed behind him closely.
“Com joi us.” Jack said flopping his hand in the air as we both leaned against one another laughing.
“Come on you two. No point in sulking, Mei is a strong woman and we will find her.” Eli said as he scooped Jack up to his feet, while Lexi grabbed my arms pulling me to my feet watching as his face split in two.
Thanking the Goddess, we did not have to climb stairs. Our room was at the end of the hallway with a large set of hand carved Tiger Oak doors of the Demon Wolf Crest. The sickening smell of cherry blossoms and vanilla hung heavily as Eli and Lexi dropped our drunken asses into the bed, laughing.
“You know if Mei was here right now, she would be kicking both of your asses.” Lexi grunted as he pulled my body up further into the bed.
“Hah. She would probably be drunk too.” Eli laughed as he grunted rolling Jack over further, towards where Mei would sleep between us.
“Not tru.” Jack said as he held up a finger, flopping it back down on the bed, snuggling into the soft comforter breathing in her scent.
“We woud be pyaying.” I huffed as I rolled over, grabbing her pillow, burying my face deep into the luscious scent.
“Okay you two. Sleep it off we will meet in the morning.” Eli said as him and Lexi walked out the room, closing the door as Jack and I passed out snuggling parts of the bed with Mei’s strongest scent.
Soft humming floated in the darkness, cherry blossoms and vanilla filling my senses as I scanned the darkness for my Mei. Bright light filled my eyes as a large lake surrounded by colorful tree coverage, acted like hands holding an object. The object was a large mountain side castle, gated with heavy iron drop gates like in the medieval times. Flash forward to a long dark hallway of cells, sealed with heavy iron doors, dark cold stone walls.
Humming growing louder, recognizing the tune as Adam Jensen- The Hunter, which Mei always whistled, or hummed when she was alone.
A tall blond standing outside of the iron door as I approached slowly realizing its Alexi. Slipping past him through a wall, seeing Mei laying naked, covered in burn marks, her beautiful silver-ebony hair matted and muddied with blood. Alexi walks in tossing a bucket of salt ice water on Mei.
Snapping my eyes open as I shot up out of bed as Jack groaned Mei’s name as he snapped upright, both of us staring at one another with raised eyebrows.
“Did you?” I asked as Jack pointed back at me with a smirk.
“Did you?” Jack asked back as we both slid out of bed, throwing on the nearest sweats lying on the gray-blue sectional, sprinting down to his office.
“What time is it?” I asked as Jack looked at his wristwatch, firing up his laptop.
“It 4:18 am.” He replied as I pulled out my laptop, pulling up Alexi’s family history.
Jack grabbed his phone receiver as I spun around, pointing at a picture of the same fucking mountain castle I saw in my drunken slumber.
“King Hilo?” Jack spoke groggily as he rubbed his face.
“Yes, I understand what time it is, but it’s important.” Jack responded to whoever was questioning him.
“Hilo, it’s Jack! Can you tell me anything about a castle in a mountain side, tied to Alexi?” Jack asked as he pressed the speaker button, jumping up from his seat as he walked over to me.
“Um…if Memory serves me right. Their mother’s side was a long line of Royal blood. Last I heard the Castle Valia was abandoned after the last Great War…so early nineteen-hundreds.” Hilo responded groggy a loud clank, then loud cursing as Hilo fumbled in the background.
“Does the Castle happen to have a large lake surrounded by dense tree coverage?” I asked looking closer at the images of the castle.
“Yeah. It over looks Fairy Lake on the far south side of the realm.” Hilo spoke cursing again as a loud bang sounded next to the phone.
“You okay Hilo?” Jack asked as he turned to the phone leaning against the desk.
“Yeah. I was pulling out the Fairy Realm History ledger. More like a fucking boulder.” Hilo laughed darkly as we heard a soft click, then the flutter of pages flipping, until it stopped with Hilo clicking his tongue.
“Yeah, right here. Castle Valia was abandoned early part of the century. The family relocated to different parts of the world, only maintaining status with the realm.” Hilo spoke coldly as Jack started texting rapidly.
“Why you ask?” Hilo asked with a curious tone.
“We both had a dream.” I replied as I sent out a mass text to everyone to meet. NOW!
“Give me like an hour to dig the blueprints out of the archives.” Hilo stated as a soft voice spoke in the background.
“Perfect! Lexi can make a 3D rendering in the computer, so we can study it better.” I spoke pumped as my phone started vibrating with texts from everyone.
“Thanks, again Hilo.” Jack spoke before hanging up the phone.
Jack took a seat next to me as we searched different archives on the Great War, which involved the Spirit Wolf and Victor.
