Chapter Thirty-six

Jack:

“Oh, and guys! NO SEX!!” Mei growled lowly as she sauntered out of Samuel’s office as me and Max pinched the bridges of our noses.

“MEI!” We both called out to hear sounding desperate.

Samuel laughing darkly as he stood leaning against the bookcase.

“NOPE!” Mei replied sharply cutting the link.

Max and I sharing the same confused expression Xander had the day Amelia said the same thing.

“Well, I guess you boys could use a stiff drink.” Samuel laughed darkly as he pulled a book from the shelf, revealing a hidden safe with weapons, money, and top shelf Bear Whiskey.

“Thanks.” We both replied as we sank into the cowhide sofa, staring at the gorgeous lake view with the majestic Yellowstone Mountains seducing the mirrored surface of the lake.

Samuel handed us two glasses as he sat down in the matching chair across from us as we swirled the amber colored liquid, taking hard swigs feeling the instant burn as it slipped slowly down my throat.

“DAMN! I forgot how harsh Bear whiskey is.” I hissed as I gently sat the glass on my knee as I tapped my finger against the rim.

“Don’t worry, she will understand once she gets over the sudden anger.” Samuel spoke deeply with a baritone voice.

“Jack?” Lexi linked.

“What the Fuck are you doing here?” I replied shocked and confused.

“Izzy “poofed” us here. I wanted to check on Mei and the pups. You know Izzy.” Lexi laughed sarcastically.

Brutus and Goki howling in laughter as I knew our asses would be handed to us.

“JACK ROCKWELL AND MAX SLIVERMOON!!” Izzy’s sing sung voice boomed through the log mansion as Samuel sunk down in his seat with a large shit eating grin

“Great!” Max and I hissed lowly as loud clicking of heels against the hardwood floors echoed hollowly.

“Just as I thought. Hiding in the office, drinking.” Izzy hissed as she tapped her foot angrily with her fists on her hips.

“Where’s my husband? I know he is the one that “poofed” you here.” She shouted her eyes turning a deep crimson as her hands flung violently in the air.

“Mrs. Nightshade it is a pleasure to meet you.” Samuel spoke standing up from his seat as he offered his hand to Izzy to greet her.

“Just Izzy. I hate formal talk, but these two-better starts, talking really fast.” Izzy shifted quickly on her heel as she yanked my glass of whiskey from my grip, downing it quickly.

“DAMN! Nothing like a good Bear whiskey to hit the spot.” Izzy hissed as Samuel laughed darkly pouring her another.

“My niece and her pups mean the world to me, and you just plucked her from the only home she knows.” Izzy started pacing as she kept her murderous gaze on us.

“We know that Izzy, that is why it was hard enough to do what we did, and look at us now, sitting her pouting while she cools down so we can take them home.” I spoke calmly as Brutus and Goki hollered in laughter.

“You should have listened to your wife and mate.” Izzy hissed as she bent over, waving her finger in our faces.

“Izzy.” Desmond spoke shocked as he entered the office.

“AND YOU!!!” Izzy growled deeply as she slid up to Desmond with a narrow glare.

“Do we dig our graves now?” Max whispered with a side glance of amusement.

“I heard that!!” Izzy shouted as she maintained her stare down with Desmond.

A loud crashing bang sounded from downstairs as Lexi’s wolf barreled in, snapping his jaw and snarling. Shifting as fast as his body allowed.

“They took her. They shot Mei.” Lexi huffed in between breaths as he flailed his finger towards the forest.

Max and I jumped over the railing, grabbing Lexi firmly snarling in his face.

“Who took her?” We both growled darkly.

Fangs protruding as saliva dripped to the floor.

“I think it was Alexi, but I am not sure. Just a shot sounded, Mei dropped with a bullet wound to her right shoulder and she told me to protect her family.” Lexi managed to huff out as his body shook violently.

“Show us where.” We shouted as we took off towards the location of Mei.

The wind blew downwind, smacking our nostrils of fresh blood, and another smell I could not pinpoint. Lexi slid to a stop in a dense covering, where a large pool of blood painted the soft moss-covered ground. Max crouching, dipping his finger in it smelling, then taste tapping it against his tongue. Instantly spitting it out.

“Fucking Silver-wolfsbane.” Max growled as we followed the blood droplets, stopping at a massive mountain spruce.

“She just didn’t disappear into thin air.” Izzy shouted as her and Desmond walked over, touching the tree with her long fingers.

“Fairy Portal.” Izzy huffed as she covered her mouth, gasping at the sight of Mei’s blood on the ground.

“Who all knew Mei was here?” Samuel asked in a dark tone.

We stopped, thinking about who knew about our plan.

“Well, Derek and Becca for one. Us.” Max’s phone buzzing violently as he pulled it out, showing “Unknown Caller” on his screen.

“Hello.” Max spoke as he pressed the speaker button.

“Well, Morning gentleman, oh wait, or is Evening?” The caller laughed darkly as it finally clicked.

The unknown scent and voice. The Bouncer at the club who wanted to know who the Hottie was.

“Listen here you vile piece of Shit. I will hunt you down and let my wife shred your balls from your body.” I growled into the phone as Max caught my gaze.

“The Bouncer from Alexi’s club.” I linked as Max’s eyes shot open.

“You are hilarious, but unfortunately for you two, I get to have a little fun with her.” He laughed darkly as the trees moaned in pain around us as Brutus and Goki howled angrily.

“What do you want?” Max asked as his hand shook violently.

“That’s easy. Your dead bodies lying bloody.” He laughed darkly as we side glanced each other.

“Let me speak to Alexi.” I spoke calmly as I listened to the background noise closely.

“It is me you speak with currently. Alexi will call you later. Until then enjoy.” The line beeped as it was cut short.

I spun on my heel violently, grabbing my hair as I growled roared into the forest as Max rumbled darkly with this demonic sound from his chest.
