You promised

CAMILLA
~•~
I lay on my bed, Lana Del Rey blasted from the speakers of my mp3 player. I wanted to just lie down and close my eyes, drift off to another world entirely, but I knew I was here on a job. So, I had to focus, pick up my laptop and reach out to my community of psychotherapists. I did not give them the identity of my client, of course, but I did let them know the current situation. The man had been taking antidepressants for only God knows how long, I wanted to see how I could correct and flush his system of the effect.
It would not be an easy thing to do, I knew that. Most of the people who replied to my comment let me know that I now had a lot of work on my hands. They let me know the importance of informing his family and changing the course of his medication immediately. But, there was a problem.
Mister Ivan did not have a family besides Antonio and Ian. I did not think I could trust either the first or second man with my discovery. One of them might be responsible for his faulty medication, I did not want to put mister Ivan or myself into any more danger.
I was still busy with my reports and notes when I heard a knock on my door. I figured it would be Antonio calling me down for dinner. It was about time he did so. I closed my laptop and climbed down from my bed. I threw my legs into my pair of violet furry slippers. I scraped my legs on the ground as I trotted to the door. My fingers found the lock and I turned the keys to unlock the door.
I pushed the door open, and was shocked when my eyes met with empty space. I narrowed my eyes on mister Ivan's door, before I heard a small giggle from beneath me. When I stared down at the floor, I found two kids there.
A girl, and a boy.
My eyes widened in shock. The girl held on to her brother while flashing me a bright and cheerful smile. I stared down at them, blinking with shock.
I could recognize the girl, I had seen her in one of those pictures in the green room. But I did not know the boy, neither did I know how and why they were at the foot of my door. Was he Ivan's son? Were they both Ivan's children?
Was his wife really serious about returning? And why on earth did I seem displeased about the simple fact that mister Ivan might have reunited with his family?
"Tina, mummy needs to see you downstairs. Take your brother with you." Ivan's voice called out from down the hall. The girl turned away from me and scurried away, leading the little boy by his right hand.
I turned to look at mister Ivan and found that his eyes were on me.
I did not know why, but I flung myself into my room. Before I could close and bolt the door behind me, I pushed the door open, causing me to stagger back.
He found his way into my room, for the first time, and closed my door behind me.
It was ridiculous, utterly ridiculous for me to be annoyed and sad that his family had returned. Every other doctor would have been happy for their patient, glad to know that they were not the only ones who could be by their patient now. But, I? I was…I didn't even know the words to use.
Perhaps, I had been right all along. I was a shitty doctor, and an even worse person.
Mister Ivan leaned against my door, and I could feel him watching with keen eyes as I stomped to my closet. I pulled my box out, opened it on my bed and started to put my clothes into it.
I could feel the intensity of the stare on my forehead. I heard his footsteps as he walked to where I stood, but I paid him no mind.
"What are you doing?" He asked, hovering over me.
I did not look at him. Instead, I focused on walking to and fro, from my cupboard to my bed. On my fifth journey to my cupboard, he gripped my right hand and pulled me to his body.
He trapped both my biceps in his firm hands and stared down at me. His icy blue eyes peered into my lazy brown ones.
"I asked you before and I would not ask you again, Camilla. What do you think you are doing?"
My eyes danced around his face, I dug my teeth into my lower lip to stop it from quivering.
I noticed his gaze travel from my eyes to my bottom lip. It lingered there for a while, before he dragged his gaze back to my face.
"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm leaving, mister Ivan. My job here is done."
It was either he was blind, or he no longer had the ability to comprehend situations.
"What do you mean by you're done?"
He narrowed his eyes on me, his stance shifted from bothered to possessive. Somehow, it aroused me.
"Your wife and child are back now. You've gotten the two things you need the most. It is time for me to leave because you do not need me anymore." I spat out. God! I was being so stupid. This was stupid, everything about the position we were in now was breaking every ethical code that existed, not to talk of the moral codes.
This man was married, with two children, and I wanted to pin him to my bed and kiss the hell out of him again.
I could swear I saw his eyes light up with amusement. My scowl deepened.
"Is that an assumption or a fact?" He asked. I frowned at him.
Heavens, Camilla Theodore! What the hell are you doing?!
"I don't know, you tell me."
His gaze traveled down to my lips again, I wanted nothing more than for him to lean into me and…
He let go of my arm, and for some reason, I suddenly felt alone, bare and naked.
"It's far from a fact, Camilla. You're going to stay here because I need you. And you promised you wouldn't leave."
