Chapter 10

I have not forgotten that.
I let go of him because I had nothing to say to him. I'm not going to keep explaining my actions to anyone. I do what I feel is right at the moment. I pushed him away and walked inside the hospital room. Everything was scattered in the room, and Lilian was being treated by the doctor. She was hysterically crying, not letting doctors treat her even though her condition was worsening.
"No, call Mason,” she shouted to the doctors and her servant, Jessica. She flinched when she shouted like that. She looked scared.
“Maam, let's treat you. Your transplant organs will fall if you keep doing this. Let us help you before it's too late." The doctor tried to make her understand, but she wouldn't listen. My brows furrowed in anger. Why is she being so stubborn?
“What's going on here?” I said in my dominating voice, and it made her look in my way. Tears were running down her pale cheeks. She looked so weak as if she would collapse any second.
“Mason'' her eyes sparkled, and a smile formed on her lips. She came running to me and buried her face in my chest.
“Where did you leave me all alone? I was so scared,” she sobbed loudly while holding me tightly.
“Shhh. Stop crying. See, now I'm here,” I said softly, trying to calm her down. I don't want her to break down anymore.
“Let's get you treated first,” I said softly, and I took her to the hospital bed. She nodded, and this time she let the doctors treat her without any fuss.
“What's wrong, doctor?” I asked the doctor once they were done treating her.
“We think her transplant organs are rejecting her because of her emotional breakdown. If it keeps going on, then we won't be able to do anything,” he said with a serious voice. My jaw clenched, and Lilian started to cry once again. Saying that the doctor walked out with Jessica, leaving us alone in the room.
“Calm down, Lilian. Nothing will happen to you,” I said while cupping her face.
“Stop crying; it's making your health worse,” I said, trying to make her understand.
“What will I do now? I have nothing left,” she cried loudly. I could see the pain in her voice. I sat beside her on the bed.
“Don't say that. You have me. I will do anything for you,” I said softly, wiping her tears with my thumb. She looked at me with her glassy eyes when I said that.
“Then marry me, Mason. Make me free from all my worries and the emotional breakdown I'm having. Stay with me,” she said, tears running down her eyes. My eyes widened when she said that. I have a mate. Roslyn's face flashed in front of my eyes.
“Your presence calms me down. If you marry me, maybe I will live longer and more happily with you. You are with Roslyn because of constriction pressure. I know you love only me. Marry me, and we will live happily together,” she pleaded to me with tears running down her cheeks. She had hope in her eyes. Her eyes were red from crying, and it looked like she would faint at any time. If I refuse her, she will break down, and hope will be shattered. What if her transplant organs reject her, ruining her life? I can't let that happen to her. She is in this condition because she saved me. I won't let anything happen to her.
"Yes, I will marry you,” I reluctantly agreed to tell her. I wanted her to get better first, and then I would talk about this. My mouth turned bitter when I said those words. My wolf was not even a bit happy with my answer, and he shut himself up.
“I love you,” she said happily, and once again I buried her face in my chest. I pressed my lips together. I saw how happy she became when I said that. Tears vanished from her eyes. He looked up from my chest. She moved her face to kiss me, but I moved my face before she could. Her lips landed on my cheeks. I took hold of her hands and peeled them off me.
“You are exhausted. Take some rest.” I said that and stood up. She pressed her lips tightly, not happy with my actions, but she still smiled. I walked out of the room right away.
He walked out of the room and kept looking at his retreating. My hand ached to hold him, but I couldn't. He accepted me but was not ready to accept my physical closeness. He coldly rejected me just after agreeing to marry me. A bubble of anger rose in me.
"Jessica!” I shouted, and she came running inside the room with some nurses. I started destroying everything.
“Why didn't you make it look more serious and real? See, he walked out, leaving me behind.” I shouted at her, and she flinched.
“I tried my best,” she said timidly. She was scared of me.
“Did she save our Alpha?” one of the nurses who was cleaning the room said.
“I don't think so. She was so unwell before he came, and now she is shouting at her maid,” the other maid said, and my jaw clenched in anger.
“What did you say?” I asked both nurses in anger.
"Nothing, ma'am,” their bodies stiffened, and they ran out of the room. I was even more angry now.
I was so stressed from what happened at the hospital. I wanted to go back to Roslyn, but I knew I had hurt her. I couldn't go back, so I went to a bar. Leo and my other friend, Jeff, were already there. There was no bad blood between me and Leo. We were best friends, even though we fought. I told them what happened at the hospital. I was feeling so stressed.
“What would you do now that you have feelings for Roslyn?” Leo Fucker tried to tease me, knowing I don't have feelings for her. I glared at him, and Jeff chuckled.
“I don't know what I should do,'' I said in frustration and gulped my whisky in one go. I ordered one more.
“It's simple. You don't want to be with Roslyn. Reject her and marry Lilian, the love of your life," Leo said with a tight smile on his face. My jaw clenched, and I drank again. I couldn't even say that word. A big lump formed at the base of my throat. Leo's eyes narrowed in my way when he said that look in my eyes. I was restless. Restless for her. A known look cladded in Leo's eyes. He realised something that I still have not, and it made me even more frustrated.
“You are in deep sh*t, brother.”
