Chapter 16

It's time to end the emotional trauma I'm feeling.
“Hey Roslyn,” Nera said, arriving in front of the shop. I didn't respond to her and kept looking at Mason and Lilian with great pain on my face. I was so heartbroken to see them. Nera wrapped her hand around my shoulder and pulled me to her. I closed my eyes and swallowed my tears.
“I'm with you,” Nera whispered, and she rubbed her hand on my arms to make me feel the warmth.
“Why is it happening to me?” I said it in my teary, shaky voice. The moon goddess has chosen me as his mate. Why was this happening to me? If I was not worth becoming the Luna of Moonpack, then why was I chosen as his mate by the moon goddess? Why? So many answered questions came up in my mind. I felt so much pain in my heart.
“Let's go and sit somewhere,” Nera said, looking at my condition. I wanted to cry my eyes out, but I kept controlling myself. I can't let myself break again and again. She took me to a nearby bench to sit.
“I will go and get some water for you,” she said after making me sit on a bench. She went away, and I kept sitting there, lost in my troublesome thoughts.
"Oh, what a surprise!” I heard the familiar, irritating voice. I didn't want to deal with her.
“Are you following me and Mason?'' She accused me of making me look at her in disbelief.
“It doesn't matter, even if you are. We were too busy with ourselves to notice you anyway. He won't keep his hands away from me,” she said while showing her perfect teeth to me. I felt a burning sensation in my heart when she said that. She was moving her hands while talking, and I didn't miss the big stone on her finger.
"Pretty, isn't it? Mason gave it to me while proposing to me. Soon you will get an invitation for our engagement,” she said with a big smile on her face. My eyes widened. Her words completely broke me. The last hope, which still lingered even after it was yanked harshly, Tears formed in my eyes, and she smiled, looking at my crying face. I felt as if I was betrayed by the whole world. My marriage to Mason was just a show. It's just a hoax. He never loved me, not for a second. Was my marriage to him just revenge for him because he was pressured by the council? He hated me. I knew that, but it took so much to break me like that. He was just taking revenge on me for taking Lilian's place in his life. How stupid I was to believe he would love me one day when the truth was that he was waiting for Lilian to come back. Now that she is back, he is kicking me out of his life. All those thoughts made me realise that I have no place in his life whatsoever.
“Don't be so heartbroken,” she said, looking at me with pity in her eyes.
“I don't want you to curse us even before we get married,” she said, and her words held accusations. How can she say that? My throat bobbed with the lump of emotion that was screaming to come out.
"Here, take this,” she said while taking out the envelope from her bag. I looked at her and then back at her. I swallowed the lump with a raging anger rising in me.
“What's this? I asked in anger while getting up from my place. I know what it is. How dare she? How dare she try to give me money as if I'm some beggar? She smirked, looking at my face.
“Don't think too much. It will be more than enough for you to spend the rest of your life somewhere away from here. You can also get married to someone,” she said with a smirk on her face. How could she say that? I had enough.
“I had enough of your nonsense. How dare you offer me money?” I said it with a clenched jaw. My nose flared in anger. I had had enough of all this.
“Don't act as if you don't need money. We all know you have nothing. If you are doing this drama to get more money out of me, then just tell me how much you want, and I will give it to you. I don't have time for your drama,” she said, curtly showing her real face. Her words infuriated me. I snatched that envelope from her, and she smirked, thinking I had accepted. I tore the envelope while looking straight into her eyes. Her eyes widened when I did that. She was not expecting me to do that. I threw the torn pieces of paper on her face. She gasped when I did that.
“Keep your money to yourself. I don't want it,” I said, curtly matching her tone. I was now beyond mad.
“How dare you disrespect me like that? You are worthless, Omega,” she said in anger and took a step in my way, but then suddenly she stopped.
“Why are you doing this to me, Roslyn? I was just trying to be kind to you,” she started to cry. Fat tears started to roll down her cheeks. One second, she was looking all healthy, and now her face had turned red, and she was crying as if I had hurt her physically. I was surprised to see her sudden behaviour change.
“If you want, I will apologise to you, but please don't be so rude to me. I was just trying to help you,” she cried out loudly, confusing me even more.
“What is happening here?” Mason appears from behind me. My body went stiff when I heard his voice.
"Mason, thank God you are here,” she said while running to him. I turned around to find her face buried in his chest and his arms wrapped around her protectively. My jaw clenched in anger when he looked at me with an accusing glare.
“What did you do to her?”
