Chapter 17

“What did you do to her?”
He asked accusingly. I pressed my lips in a thin line. Just because she started crying means it's my fault. He can only see her tears, not the pain in my eyes. Is he even my mate for real? How shallow can he be? I have heard so many stories from my grandmother. Who said you, mate, would feel even the slightest pain you are going through, but my mate can't even feel the heartbreaking pain I'm going through? Can't he see how much pain his actions are giving me? His bias is hurting me. Tears well up in my eyes.
“I asked you something, Roslyn. What is Lilian crying like?” He asked me firmly when I still didn't open my mouth to answer him. My nose flared in anger. I said I had enough of this.
“Why don't you ask her? Anyway, whatever I tell you, you won't believe me." I taunted him, and I saw how Lillian's eyes went wide. She was not expecting me to talk to him like that. Mason's jaw clenched when I said that. Lilian started to cry even more loudly, as if it hurt her so much.
“Mason I just tried to say hello to her, but she talked softly and rudely with me,” Lilian said in between her sobs. I was not even surprised when she said that. She was a manipulative bitch, and it was clear. Mason wrapped his hand around her more poetically.
"Shhh, don't cry, Lilian. It will affect your health,” he said, sounding so concerned, and I felt like puking. I felt so disgusted looking at them. He wiped her tears from his other hand with so much care, as if she would break if he touched her with a little more force.
“I was just trying to be nice to her, but she accused me of stealing you from her. She called me names because you chose to be with me.” “She said, I'm a characterless woman trying to take away her mate.” Lilian fed all the lies to him in front of my face, and he believed her without any doubt. His accusing grey orbs moved to me, and a realisation stuck with me. I had no place in his life. Even if I cry and tell him the truth, he won't believe me. He won't even blink his eyes in my way and go running to her, even if she whimpers. Everything was crystal clear to me. I will have no relationship with this man whatsoever. I'm done.
“You wanted to see her crying like this,” he said accusingly while looking at me. I kept standing there with a clenched jaw.
“This is what you wanted, huh?” he said while grinding his teeth. I just kept looking, not saying a word, because it made no difference. Lilian pushes Mason and Hot out of his hold.
“I don't want to be here anymore,'' she said, running past me. I didn't miss how she smirked, looking at me before running.
"Lilian!” He shouted to stop her, but she ran away.
"Happy,” he said once again, accusingly, and ran while pushing me hard. I was about to fall when Nera caught me.
“Roslyn,” she said worriedly. Her hand was wrapped around my stomach before me. Tears freely fell out of my eyes when I saw her.
“Nera, why is it happening to me?” I said this while sobbing in her arms. I knew she had witnessed everything. I felt betrayed and ignored to the extent that it hurt me physically.
“Here, drink some water. Everything will get well soon,” she said while making me drink water. I gulped it. I was not feeling well. I wanted to go back to my apartment. It was too much for me to take in. I can't handle it anymore.
“Nera I'm sorry, but I can't accompany you anymore. I want to go home,” I said while wiping the tears from my cheeks.
“You don't have to apologise. I understand. Come, I will drop you,” she said softly to help me. But I wanted to be alone.
“No, I will go on my own. I want to be alone,” I said to her. She looked surprised when I said that but agreed with me when I squeezed her hand as if to plead with her.
“Call me if you need anything. I'm just one call away,” she said, and I nodded my head. I started to walk away, lost in my thoughts. I didn't know where I was going. I just kept walking where my weak legs took me. Tears kept sliding from my eyes. I was spilling emotional trauma from my eyes. I didn't even realise there was an escalator in front of me. I kept my leg on it, and my eyes widened in fear when my leg slipped. My hands immediately wrapped around my stomach. I was scared for my baby more than myself. My eyes shut tightly in fear. Two strong arms were wrapped around me, and I was pulled away from the escalator. My eyes remained closed, and my heart was still beating so fast behind my rib cage. I opened my eyes to thank my saviour, but I saw Mason standing in front of me. I immediately moved away from his arms, and his jaw clenched. Why did he help me?
“Have you also lost your eyesight with your brain?” he said in a mad voice while glaring at me. Why was he angry with me? If I had fallen, Lilian would have been the happiest person on this planet. I don't want to talk to him. I turned around to walk away when he grabbed my arm, making me look at him. I whined at his tight grip.
“I'm talking to you,” he said while pulling me to him.
“I don't want to talk to you. Let go of me,” I said angrily while trying to peel his arm away from me.
“You have to. Come with me and apologise to Lilian. Do you have the slightest idea how much your words have hurt her?” He said it accusingly while looking straight into my eyes. He was here for this. He wants me to apologise to that bitch.
“Do you even know what happened there?” I said this in a last attempt to show her real face to him. His jaw clenched in anger.
“I have heard enough. Come with me and apologise to Lilian now,” he said dominatingly, refusing to hear even a word against her. My jaw clenched and my chest heaved with the realisation I was getting today. He believed her so blindly. Even if she says I tried to kill her, he will believe her blindly and come from my throat. I can't watch this drama anymore. I have decided to stand up for myself from now on. I will fight for myself if no one else does. I will protect my self-respect at any cost. With all my power, I yanked my hand out of his hold and pushed him hard. I looked straight into his eyes and said,
“I will not. Do whatever hell you want to do.”
