Chapter 11
I wanted to stop crying, but I could not hold back my tears.
My pregnancy hormones and the mate bond were messing with my head. My emotions were all over the place. I knew he would leave. I knew he would always put Lilian first, but still, like the fool, I hoped. I hope that he will stay if I stop him. I'm hoping that for once, he will choose me.
But once again, he shattered my hope and proved me wrong. His actions told me I was a fool to believe I could be his. He didn't even like me when we were in high school. For him, I was dust on the floor, but still, I dreamed of making him mine. He will never be mine. He was my mate, but we were not fated to be together. He is only Lilian, and she has proved to me that many times. He would have never accepted me if Lilians had been around, even if the council had pressured him. That realisation made something break inside me again. I kept crying all night in grief over losing my love. my mate and the father of my unborn child forever. I had made up my mind to divorce him, and as soon as the sun rose, I went to pack the house to finalise the terms of the divorce. I want to end my misery as soon as possible. I want to leave everything behind and go away to take deep breaths of relief. I had already informed his secretary that I was coming to discuss the terms of the divorce. He was sitting on his chair behind his desk when I entered his office. He waved at his secretary, who walked away immediately. His dark eyes were settled on me, and it was giving me weird sensations all over my body. I pushed that feeling away and cleared my throat. He gestured for me to sit. I took my seat and looked him straight in the eye.
“I want this to end as soon as possible. So let's settle the agreement,” I said firmly while looking straight into his grey orbs. He was clenched when I said that.
“Why are you in such a hurry to get rid of me?” he said in his heavy, dominating voice, looking straight into my eyes. My heart beats fast. From his face, it looked like he was not even a bit happy to divorce me, but once again, I was being delusional. He wanted to get rid of me too.
“So that you can marry Lilian and her Luna as soon as possible,” I taunted him, and his nose flared in anger. If he thinks I don't know what the first thing he would do after divorcing me is, then he is a fool. I may be naive, but I'm not that naive to know what he was planning from the day Lilian returned. He didn't say anything, and it was my cue to start talking.
“I want the terms to be simple. I want nothing from you but only freedom,” I said, firmly telling him what I wanted. His jaw remained clenched, and grey eyes pinned on me.
“You don't need to be so generous,” he mocked, making me clench my jaw.
“You will get my half property as soon as we get a divorce and monthly alimony as compensation,” he said firmly as if saying this divorce would happen on his terms. He was again trying to dominate me. He was happily giving away his money and property because, in return, he would get the love of his life. There was a knock on the door, and his secretary entered when asked to come in. The knock broke the tension in the air.
"Sir, it's important, '' he said, showing the cell phone. He had a serious look on his face.
“Stay here. We are not done,” he said, firmly passing a chill down my spine. He stood up and walked out. I kept waiting for him. I wanted this discussion of the agreement to end soon, but he was taking too long. I kept waiting for him. A feeling of distress is eating me up. After what felt like hours, he returned. I right away got back to discussing the terms.
“I said I don't want anything from you. I only want freedom from you, not your property and money. Anyways, I'm going to leave the pack as soon as I get divorced, so keep your property and money for your new wife,” I taunted him once, not backing out. I was not scared of him anymore. The Roslyn who loved him was scared of losing him, and she did what he wanted, but Roslyn is dead, and the new Roslyn knows Alpha Mason can never be here.
“What did you say?” he said in anger.
“You are not allowed to leave the pack after the divorce. You will stay here in a pack in front of my eyes,” he said firmly, and my jaw clenched even more. He wants me to stay here and see how he builds a family with Lilian. He wants me to suffer every day just because I was his mate who separated Lilian and him.
How cruel he can be!
“I will leave the pack whether you want it or not. I decided to make, and I have made my decision,” I said firmly, not budging from my terms. He stood up with force, and his chair fell back. His grey orbs turned black, and I knew his wolf had taken over.
“You will stay in front of my eyes,'' he said firmly in his dominating voice, sending shivers down my spine. He wanted a submission, but I refused to do it. As Luna, I held power over him, which I had never used before. It was the right time to use it. He looked even more frustrated and agitated when I refused to agree with him. He started to walk out of the room. I stood up immediately.
“We are not done. Come back.” I yelled slightly loudly, but he walked away as he didn't hear me. I was beyond annoyed with his actions. The next day, I tried to talk to him again, but his secretary told me that Alpha had gone to the neighbour's house for some business. He was not back, even after a week. In the meantime, I made arrangements for my departure. The longer he stayed there, the more aggrieved I felt. I wanted to end this soon. I will leave the pack as soon as we get divorced. I hope he comes back so we can settle the divorce. I felt frustrated.
Why can't he settle the divorce and go wherever he wants?
