Chapter 29
I was scared. It is so sacred for the safety of my child.
The last thing I saw were two big flashlights before I lost consciousness.
“Roslyn''. I heard a worried voice calling my name, but darkness had already consumed me completely. “We need to go to the hospital.” I heard a distant shout calling my name. I could hear the distress and worry in it. That was the last thing before darkness completely consumed me. All the things that happened before I lost my consciousness started to flash in front of my closed eyes. It made me feel so uneasy. So restless.
“Your child and you both will die before that happens'’ Lilian's curse echoed in my ears. Sweat beads started to form on my forehead, making me feel scared. My hand moved to my stomach, wrapping around it protectively even in my unconscious state.
“You child and you both will die before that happens'' those words and her evil laughter echoed in my ear, making me jolt up from my darkness.
“I will not let anything happen to my child,” I cried out loudly while wrapping my arms around me. Tears rolled down my cheeks in fear.
"Roslyn,” I felt warm arms wrapping around me. A hand rubbed my arm, making my cold body feel warm. “I will not let anything happen to my child,” I cried out once again while moving my head from side to side. My shoulders shuddered in fear.
“Nothing will happen to your baby. It's safe,” a familiar voice whispered in my ear, and it made me stop crying. It made me slowly lift my head to look at that person. I was met with eyes.
“I promise nothing will happen to your child,” Hudson said while cupping my face and looking straight into my glassy eyes. More warm tears rolled down my face. I moved forward, wrapped my arms around him, and started to cry again. He was caught off-guard, but he still wrapped his arm around me. His hand resumed making soothing circles on my back. His words felt real, and they gave me a slight relief in my sacred heart. I pulled away from him when the doctor entered the room. I realised I was in the hospital. A drip was attached to my arm. My food was wrapped in bandages. The doctor gave me a warm smile, and I smiled back. He checked on me again.
“Thank God your husband brought you to the hospital at the right time,” he said with a warm smile on his face. I didn't try to correct him, nor did Hudson. I stayed quiet.
“I would like to congratulate you,” he said while looking at Hudson.
“You, your wife, are pregnant,” he said, informing Hudson about my pregnancy. He reacted as if he had learned about it for the first time.
"Oh, it is such wonderful news. Thank you, doctor,” Hudson thanked him while hugging me from the side. I forced a smile out of him.
“We have already treated her foot, and we will keep her in the hospital until her drip is finished. She is weak, so please take care of her,” he said to Hudson, and he nodded his head, saying he would. The doctor walked out of the room, and I looked up at Hudson, who was still holding me even after the doctors left. He realised it and let go of me with slightly red cheeks. He cleared his throat and sat on the chair in front of me. He covered my other hand with his and squeezed it slightly.
“How are you feeling?” he asked, looking straight into my eyes.
“Weak. Very weak and powerless,” I told him the truth with a sad smile on my face.
“Please don't be so disheartened, Roslyn,” he pleaded to me, making tears form in my eyes.
“I know you are a strong, very strong woman. I know you can fight anything and anyone, but please don't lose hope,” he said, consoling me. Tears formed in my eyes, but I swallowed them. His words comforted me, making me hold on to the last strand of hope. I slightly nodded my head, and he smiled at me. We stayed in the hospital until my drip was finished.
“Let's go,” he said while putting his hand on the small of my back, supporting my body.
I rushed to the hospital when I learned that Roslyn was hurt and was in the hospital. My heart was pounding in my rib cage, and my wolf turned even more restless. I was getting worried thinking about how she would be. I drive the car without thinking about myself. My wolf was scratching his claws, asking me to let him in. Even the thought of her being hurt was making me feel so out of my mind. I got to the floor, and then I saw Roslyn walking out of the hospital room with the help of Hudson, my brother. Her foot was wrapped in bandages. My wolf stirred up in anger when he saw how Hudson was holding her like she belonged to him.
“What are you doing with her?” I asked in my firm, dominant Alpha voice while looking at him. I saw how Roslyn's body reacted to my voice. Her body went stiff, and she looked in my direction.
“I'm helping her because she is hurt,” Hudson said while not making an effort to remove his hands from my mate. My nose flared in anger, and I took threatened steps in his direction. I pulled my mate out of his hold and pressed her to my chest. She gasped when I did that.
“Be gentle with her; she is hurt,” Hudson said, showing his care for my mate. Roslyn looked at him with glassy eyes, and it boiled my blood even more. She should be looking at me for comfort, not at him.
"Hudson, get out of here right now before I lose my mind,” I said using my Alpha voice. My fingers clenched in anger, and my possessiveness made me go blind. Hudson kept standing there, refusing to budge.
“I will forget you are my little brother,” my wolf growled, accepting his refusal as a challenge to me.
"Please, Hudson, go. I'm fine,” Roslyn said in a small, timid voice, and it made him look at her. My jaw became tight. I hated how she tried to protect him. I know she has a soft spot for him because he always helped her. He was always nice to her.
“Please go,” she said with tears in her eyes, as if she were scared for his life. My jaw clenched even more. He took a deep breath.
“Remembering I'm only one call away,” he said while looking at me with a soft smile, and it pissed me off so much. She smiled back at him, showing her soft side to him. He walked away after saying it. I hated the look of disdain he gave me before walking away. I saw red when he said that. As soon as he was out of my sight, I roughly pinned Roslyn to the wall. She gasped at my abrupt actions. I saw how she gulped, looking at my pitch-black eyes. My wolf was restless, and it wanted to calm our mate.
She belongs to only us.
