What is he doing here?
Mason's eyes moved to Lucy and then back to me. His grey orbs moved to my bandaged hand. I saw how they went wide. He was immediately on my side, holding my hand. I didn't want to feel those sparks, but I couldn't even push them away. I tried to yank my hand out of his hold, but he didn't let go of it. I could feel Lucy's eyes on us, and it made me stand up from my place.
“What happened to your hand?” he asked me while examining me with a worried look in his eyes. My jaw clenched, and I yanked it out of his hand with a hard tug. Why is he showing his fake concern now? Now that our divorce is going to be finalised, I don't want to be near him anymore.
“It's none of your business,” I said bitterly while looking away. His nose flared when I said that, but he still took hold of my hand once again to get a better look at it. I didn't make it easy for him, and it made him hold my hand firmly, not in a way to hurt me.
“How did you get hurt?” he asked again when he took hold of my hand. His eyes examined my bandage wound. There was a little blood stain on the white bang.
“Stop showing your fake concern. Just tell me why you are here,” I said in anger once, trying to get my hand out of his hold, but he didn't let it go. I don't get why he is showing his concern for me now. I have freed him from this burdensome relationship. I have even told him that I don't want to see his face again, so why is he in front of my eyes?
“You are injured, and it matters to me,” he said, leaving me stunted. I couldn't believe my ears. I blinked my eyes, looking at him. Is he the same Mason I know? He cupped my face. His thumb made lazy circles on my cheeks. My heart started to thumbs loudly when his grey eyes looked deep into my eyes. I was surprised by his actions. I could feel Lucy's eyes on us, and my face flushed.
"Mason, you are here. I was searching for you in another room.” Lilian walked into the room, breaking me out of my daze. I pulled my face away from him and tugged my arm out of his hold. Lilian came forward and once again wrapped her hands around his arm like a snake. Mason's face grimmed at her arrival.
“Did she again try to humiliate you, Mason?” Lilina asked with an innocent look in her eyes.
“I told you not to talk with her. She is nothing to you.” Lilian said venomously while trying to sympathise with Mason, but Lucy's voice stopped her before she could complete her sentence.
"Mason,” she said in a firm voice. It made all of us look in her direction. She had a stoic look on her face, and it confused me. Does she know Mason? Of course, she knows he is Alpha and she is a wolf. She knows her Alpha.
“Is Roslyn your mate?” she asks him firmly while looking straight at Mason. His jaw clenched when he asked him a question.
“She is not his mate anymore. She ended her marriage with Mason yesterday.” Lilian said it arrogantly.
“Why are you even interested in it, and how dare you question your Alpha?” Lilian said in more arrogance while glaring at Lucy. Lucy kept looking at her.
"Lilian, stop it,” Mason said, pulling his arm out of her snake-like grip.
“Don't you dare talk to my mother like that,” he said, and the colour on Lilian's face was drained out. She was beyond shocked at that revelation. I was shocked.
“Your mother,” she gasped in shock. A dreadful look crossed her eyes when she looked at Lucy.
"Yes, my mother,” Mason said with a clenched jaw while sending a glare in her way.
“Why didn't I see her before?” Lilian said, still finding it hard to believe.
“I was away from my treatment for years. I recently got better from the disease I have been suffering, and so I decided to come back to pack to be with my family,” Lucy said curtly to her. Lilian quit.
"Mason, what have you done to make Roslyn break her marriage with you?” Lucy asked him firmly, and he had no answer for her.
“I never expected you to treat you, Mate, like that. Have you ever seen your father treat me like that? I don't think Roslyn disseminates it,” she said, sounding dissatisfied with him.
“What will you do after your grandfather discovers your divorce situation? His health is already so weak. Tell me how he will handle this news. Answer me,” she said, sounding so mad at him. His jaw clenched when she talked about Grandpa. It worries me too. Mason kept stopping his mother from scolding him. She looked so dissatisfied at him.
“And why is this woman clinging to you like a leach,” she said accusingly while looking at Lilian. Lilian's face turned red when she said that.
“Don't you have any shame? Why are you with a man who had a mate? Why are you going against the Moon Goddess decision? Don't you have manners and morals?” Lucy said accusingly. She was so mad at her. Lilian's eyes welled up in tears when Lucy said those things to her. The look on her face was priceless. It felt like Lucy was taking revenge for all the mistreatment she had done with me. She left Lilian speechless. Lucy saw it straight through her fake façade. She was not a fool like her son. Lucy had a great passion with a finite stand in her voice. There was no doubt that she was our Luna. She would have stood firmly with her mate and our format, Alpha. She was truly an admiring lady.
I wish to become like her someday.
