Chapter 50 : The Battle Ground
Rakiza had only Theo in mind as he ran towards the forest after the traitor wolf. She was well aware that he was in grave danger due to his involvement with the same type. On top of that, she couldn't grasp the truth about Theo being a werewolf. Not once in a million years did it occur to her what Theo was really like. Then the question of certainty was answered. Who was Theo in reality? And the answer was that he was a certified true wolf. And then her spine began to have a chilling effect.
Aside from Rakiza, there were over fifty people watching Theo and the suspected traitor emerge from the forest. They were all curious as to who would win the fight. However, the majority of them sided with Theo, who appeared to be a hero to them. And Ajella remained silent next to her, waiting for Theo to emerge from the forest. Rakiza was overcome by a sense of bewilderment.
"Do you want to stay and wait for Theo to return here, or do you want me to take you home from this place?" Ajella's voice was firm but comforting, easing some of what was bothering her.
"No, thank you for your concern, but I want to see Theo come out of that forest alive."
"Do you want to see more of their fight?" Ajella added. "Because, if you want, we're going to the jungle," and added, "We'll follow them."
Rakiza was staring out at the forest, completely unaware that Theo was a wolf. He didn't consider Theo to be a normal person. And she wanted more proof that he was a dangerous animal. "Yes," she agreed with Ajella's advice.
"Follow me," Ajella said, as she walked quickly towards the woods, and she did.
The woods were densely forested with bushes and large trees. And Ajella was well ahead of her. And she tried to match her steps. Rakiza had noticed that Ajella moved like a warrior in her quickness and alertness. Then she paused to sniff. She was following where Theo and his opponent went before turning to Rakiza and saying, "They went to the cliff, so we have to climb that hill." Can you do it? "
"Yes, I can," Rakiza said as she followed Ajella up the hill, gasping for breath. Then they crossed another jungle before coming to a halt and stooped on the ground at the edge of a cliff. They could see two werewolves fighting below.
"Look at them down there," Ajella said, pointing to the two fighting werewolves. They're both bleeding.
Rakiza's wide eyes couldn't believe she was witnessing a true werewolf fight. She was trembling from a mix of excitement and fear. Her stomach churned once more as she tried to comprehend the reaction.
"Can you tell who Theo was out of those two fighters?" Ajella asked Rakiza. They were both on their knees, staring at the incident below. "Which of the two wolves belonged to Theo?"
"The one with the white hair on top of his head," Rakiza explained. She had a photographic memory, which allowed her to keep an almost perfect image of an object. And the first time Theo transformed in front of Rakiza, he imprinted the perfect image of his wolf in her mind. And she could tell his wolf was a beautiful, energetic wolf with longer hair and white stripes.
Both werewolves fought for several minutes more, and the slashing and clamping continued, and both were heavily bleeding. Rakiza became tense as she watched the equal fights. But just as Theo's wolf was about to triumph, another wolf appeared out of nowhere and scratched Theo's wolf on the back. And blood splattered on the ground after he cried out in agony.
"Take a look behind you, Theo!" Rakiza couldn't hold it in any longer and screamed. And her piercing voice drew the fighter's attention to them at the top of the hill.
Theo's wolf growled as the two opponents attacked him from the front and back, outnumbering him. Ajella dashed towards them and transformed into another werewolf.
Rakiza felt the chill return as the fight escalated with all four fighting, and Ajella's uncalled-for re-enforcement was a huge help to Theo. Rakiza could see how beneficial Ajella was to Theo.
Theo and Ajella used a teamwork routine to fight their enemies. And without a flaw, they defeated their adversaries. They fought valiantly and dispatched the two traitors. The first traitor was thrown off the cliff, and the last one was slashed across the throat with Theo's big paws and sharp nails.
Rakiza saw how bloody the fight had been and felt butterflies in her stomach and an increase in her heart rate. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she felt like collapsing. She lay motionless on the ground, gazing up at the cloudy skies. She knew rain was on its way, and when it did, it showered her face. And she was wondering what kind of world Theo had left behind. And she had not expected Ajella to be like one of the feared werewolf characters from a story book. Above all, she did not expect to be in a fantasy world with werewolves. And she was the only human at that exact moment, in that exact world. And she felt she was in danger of losing her life.
When she heard footsteps approaching where she was lying, the rain was getting heavier. And then Theo's image appeared out of nowhere, lifting her off the ground, and the fear vanished. It's all gone now that her body has been wrapped in Theo's human hands.
Rakiza was returned to her tent by Theo, and the previous girls who had cared for her entered and changed her clothes. She observed the girls tending to her needs as she tried to elicit information from them. "What brings you here?"
"The fighter needed our help," said the girl with shoulder-length hair and a small round face. "This is the sum total of our contributions."
"I appreciate your response. "Are you also a werewolf?" Rakiza added.
"Except for you, all of us here are werewolves." And this is not where we live. "This is just a barrier between us and the enemies," said the second girl. "Our house is a little further away."
"Are you siblings?" She inquired, as the two girls resembled each other.
"No, we aren't sisters." We're from different packs. And our pack has a variety of Alphas. "
"What does Alpha mean?" Rakiza was interested in learning more about werewolves. "And don't mind if I ask, what is Theo doing here?"
"If Theo could start his own family, he'd be an Alpha in no time." "He is more than qualified to be an Alpha," the girl dreamed, "but he had to have a female Alpha to rule alongside him in his pack."
"Ajella is one of the candidates," the other girls added. "She is suited to Theo's needs, but there were other she-wolves present who desired Theo as their mate and Alpha."
Rakiza wasn't familiar with their customs, but she listened intently to the girls explaining how the Alpha of the pack works and how he chooses a mate, and a spark of interest sprouted from deep within her, and she could feel the desire those young girls had for Theo.
They admired Theo's good looks and, above all, his determination to become an Alpha.
"How about Ajella?" Is she Theo's girlfriend? " Rakiza inquired, a little shyly.
In a low tone, the witty girl with the small face responded. "Everyone expected her to be Theo's mate very soon." But everything changed when someone entered Theo's life. "
"And who is that’ someone' you're referring to?" Rakiza's heart beat a little faster. She wished something would be different.
The other girl replied, "the huntress girl."
Rakiza frowned as she heard the girl speak. From her vantage point, it was clear that Theo was captivated by someone who resembled a huntress. And she felt a twinge of dismay and pity for Ajella, who was clearly concerned about and caring for Theo. She felt sorry for herself, believing she was the one referred to by the two girls.
"Do you happen to know who that huntress is?" Rakiza inquired, his voice trembling.
"No one knew anything about her. But a prophecy was spreading that a huntress would assist us in defeating our enemies, the vampires. And that the huntress was approaching us. "That was the story."
"And you think that's true?" Rakiza inquired.
"Yes, we all believe that something will occur that will change our lives, to make us all feel confidently safe and fearless," the final girl added.
"You're all werewolves, so why are you afraid?" Rakiza was curious to learn more.
"Vampires are the most powerful enemies we have," the second girl began to say before Theo's voice cut her off.
"And vampires have a bewitching power," Theo said as he approached them through the tent's open cloth door. He had just been bathed and had a bandage on his arms. "You may leave now," he said as he sat in the wooden chair opposite Rakiza, who was sitting on her bed. "Why were you standing there watching us fight?" His face became solemn.
"Did you want to watch me get killed?"
"Of course not," she said as she moved away from Theo.
"Are you afraid of me now that you know who I really am?" Theo locked his gaze on her.
Rakiza was trying to ask herself a question about Theo’s question. Am I afraid of him? She tried to examine herself and her feelings towards Theo and found the answer.
"No. I am not afraid of you. But you can’t expect me to accept you as who you really are immediately; it's not logical. I am only human, and I am helpless in front of all of you. And I got it. Why did you let me observe all the gruesome scenarios you’d got here? "
"This is our life. The reality and vampires are our enemies from centuries ago. "
"And why is that?" She asked.
"Because they wanted to go out into the world, conquer it all, and make us all their slaves," Theo sighed, "and they began by invading all our lands and massacring our people."
Rakiza appeared to choke on what Theo said. It was a depressing realization for a defeated man. Accepting defeat is difficult, but Theo was not ashamed to be outweighed by the vampires. And she understood how Theo felt about the war between werewolves and vampires.
"But it's the truth that you need to know," Theo said as he began to lay all the cards on the table for Rakiza. "I don't want to put myself above you by destroying Nikolas Augustus's reputation for you." But the reality is that we are an invincible foe. And it is my pledged duty to keep you safe from their clutches."
Rakiza was at a loss for words and didn't know what to believe. But when she thought about Nikolas, she had the impression that she liked him and that the truth was that they were already engaged. "But we were planning to marry."
"I'm begging you, Rakiza," Theo said, frowning. Please decline the marriage proposal. Vampires should not be interacted with. They're looking for something you have."
Rakiza insisted, "If you want me to end our marriage, show me evidence that they are dangerous."
"I will show you, but first, tell me about your nightmare," Theo said as he looked at her.
Rakiza frowned, not understanding what Theo was saying, but she did tell him what she saw in her dream. "In that dream, I was a warrior once more. And I saw this place turn into a battleground for vampires and werewolves. And I noticed the well-organized and neatly uniformed vampire warriors, each with a red cape flowing behind them. "And then they ran towards their enemies and slaughtered them mercilessly, and I saw myself running towards them, fighting, using my sword, and then one vampire caught me, and his face was white, and his canines were sharp and drifting with blood, and he was about to thrust his sword on me when you awakened me," she said, looking at Theo.
"Come with me, I'll show you the truth about vampires," Theo said, his eyes filled with fear.
