Chapter 65 : Follow The Past
Rakiza screamed. She was swimming in a flood of blood. Death was everywhere. Children, men, women, and the elderly were dead. And the killers were the vampires. And then there was the light. The woman in the mist was floating again in front of her. She was crying and speaking the words. Follow the past. Then another flood wave rushed towards Rakiza, drowning her in the deep dark part of the ocean. And there she saw Theo, who was dead. Rakiza screamed with all her might, and she was asking for help. And there's only one name she could utter. And then she screamed again, "Nikolas!"
It was already seven in the evening, and Chin was waking Rakiza up. "Wake up Rakiza, wake up!"
And then Rakiza woke up, gasping, "Ah!" Her chest was waving as she tried to fill her lungs with air. She turned around and saw Chin, whose face was white as chalk.
"You were trembling, Raki, and I was too afraid to touch you," Chin inquired. "Are you having a nightmare again?"
"Yes, and it was this woman again," Rakiza sighed as she rose to take a seat. She was trying to send a message. "
"What kind of message?" Chin asked. "What did she say in your dreams?"
Rakiza sighed again. "She asked me to go back in time. And then I saw Theo in the deep dark ocean of blood, and he was dead," she sobbed. "I'm scared." Rakiza sobbed. "Theo was dead in my dreams, and the only name I was screaming for help was... Nikolas."

"Rakiza!" awoke Nikolas, calling out Rakiza's name. When he turned around, he realized he was in a dark room with a little light from a lampshade in one corner. He had no idea where he was. He didn't know what room he was in. He stood up and looked around for an exit, but there was none. He was enclosed in a box with no openings. The room was nearly empty, with just a chair and table in the center and a single bed in the corner. Nikolas attempted to link-mind from the outside, but found none. His mother severed their mental link as well. Even if he shifted, there's no room in that room for a rat or bat.
The room was built to contain a vampire prisoner.
"Mother," Nikolas mumbled. He was attempting to draw his mother's attention through his mind. He was concerned about something he couldn't put into words. He wanted to see and speak with his mother. He was curious as to what had happened to Rakiza. Then he decided to wait for his mother and sat in the middle chair, listening to his surroundings. But he couldn't hear anything from outside. The room was sealed so that suffocation could kill human prisoners.
After an hour of waiting, Nikolas felt rage and stomped up. I have to find a way to escape. He spent other hours looking for a hole, even a small one, to use for escape. But she found nothing. There’s no escape in that room. But he had to know Rakiza’s movements against vampires.
***
The night was cold, and Rakiza's dream lingered in her mind. She knew she had to act. She can no longer wait for Theo or Nikolas to arrive and assist her in returning to the past. She needed to go back in time. The guide appeared to her in her dream. The woman at the lake and what she said: "She should follow the past."
Chin entered the room and was startled. "Rakiza, why did you open the window?"
"Chin, just go back to the dorm."
Chin was taken aback.
"Your studies will be ruined if you take care of me. I'm fine. My strength has returned. I can take care of myself. "
"No, Rakiza, I'll go wherever you go," Chin insisted. "It's summer vacation; don't worry about my studies."
"But there’s danger in my..." Rakiza hesitated to involve Chin in her unusual life.
"You needed my help." Chin was excited, "Look at these plants. " She was carrying a basket full of potted herbs. I picked these herbs from Theo’s garden. And some of these are medicine for anemia, your illness. And I know how to prepare these herbs for you. "
Rakiza was happy about Chin’s cooperation, but she was more worried about her safety. She didn’t know about vampires and werewolves. She was just an innocent girl that might be caught in the dark world if she let her go with her.
"No, Chin. I have to go alone. My world is different from your world. "
"What are you talking about?" Chin frowned.
“Forget it,” Rakiza said.
"I really want to be with you during the holidays, Rakiza, so don't let me down." Chin walked to the door and said, "Wait here, I'll make a concoction of these herbs." She then went to the kitchen.
Rakiza only sighed. She also couldn't tell Chin that Nikolas was a vampire and Theo was a werewolf. She stared out into the dark woods for a sign to begin, but she felt nothing and decided to close the window and return to her bed. She was thinking about Theo. What happened to Theo? Did he escape from the dungeon, or had they killed him and, like in her dream, he died in the pool of his blood? She sobbed about the pain of losing Theo.
And then she remembered her blood. What happened to the blood the vampire-Ardoja had extracted from her? Is her blood really a cure for vampirism? She closed her eyes and was asleep peacefully. Did he escape from the dungeon or they had killed him and like in her dream, he died in the pool of his blood. She sobbed of the pain of losing Theo.
And then she remembered her blood. What happened to the blood the vampire-Ardoja had extracted from her? Is her blood really a cure for vampirism? She closed her eyes and was asleep peacefully.
The next time she awoke, Chin woke her up to eat and drink her concoction. "Take one cup. It tastes bitter, but that proves its effectivity. "
Rakiza took a cup of the herbal tea and felt her stomach grumble at first, then nothing. And watching Chin’s happy reaction makes her heart feel the joy.
"I could possibly become a good herbalist someday." Chin was giggling, "I must be a good healer for those who can’t afford chemical medicine and doctor’s expensive professional fees."
Rakiza was still silent.
"Where are you planning to go on vacation?" Chin asked.
"I want to go back to my birthplace," Rakiza said.
Then they heard the knocking of a door. It was coming from the main door in the living room.
"Don't," Rakiza said, grabbing her hand.
"Why?" Chin was confused.
"We have to make sure," Rakiza said. "I'll check who that knocker is." Rakiza came out of the room, and Chin followed her. "Just wait there, Chin."
"I'll just accompany you to the living room." Chin insisted.
Then, the knock on the door continued. "Who are you?" Rakiza asked aloud, but no one answered her. "Whoever you are, reveal yourself." Rakiza asked again, but still no response.
"Maybe it's just an animal, Rakiza." Chin said.
After a few minutes, the knocking resumed and was louder than the first.
Chin jolted and was scared and screamed. "Rakiza, this isn't good!"
"I know, go back to Theo's room, Chin, and lock the door. Don't come out if it's not me knocking." Rakiza yelled. "Go!"
Chin ran as fast as she could into Theo's room and locked the door.
Rakiza gripped the knife Chin had received. "Who are you? I'll never open that door if you'll not answer me. "
Suddenly, the knocking stopped again. And Chin opened the door and asked, "Was it over? Did the knocker leave? "
The voice was far too deep and pleading, "Rakiza, open the door."It was a familiar female voice.
"Who are you? Answer me! Tell me your name. " Rakiza yelled.
"You've really forgotten me, Rakiza."
"Tell me your name, and why are you here now at Theo's cottage?"
"Rakiza, it's me, Muriel."
"What?" Chin's eyes widened as she peeked out the door. "Who's outside Rakiza?"
Rakiza was stunned. "It was Muriel."
"Wh-what?" Chin frowned, "but Muriel was no longer alive."
"I understand... but..."Rakiza was confused. She knew that Muriel was already a vampire. And her sudden appearance at the cottage means danger.
The knock on the door continued. "Please, Rakiza. Let me in. "
Rakiza was thinking fast. She had to know why Muriel appeared. Who sent her? Rakiza moved closer to the door. "Who sent you, Muriel?"
"Open the door, Rakiza." Muriel was crying, "Please, it’s too cold out here." Muriel's voice shivered.
But Rakiza knew it was just an act. Dead people had no senses whatsoever.
"Rakiza, let Muriel in." She was cold. " Chen caved in.
"Never open that door, Chin," Rakiza said, hardly. "That woman outside is no longer Muriel. Muriel is dead and she should stay dead forever. "
The voice outside was begging again, "Chin, open the door. I’m starving. I need to eat. "
"She knew I was here, too," Chin trembled. What happened to her, Rakiza? Oh, my God. My stomach churned. How did she become alive? "
Rakiza revealed that "the vampire made her one of them."
Chin was astounded by what she heard. She turned to stare at Rakiza, frowning with an unbelieving face. "Vampire? Muriel is a vampire? "
"Yes," Chin. " Rakiza sighed, "But you can’t tell anyone, because you’ll end up in the mental hospital if you do so."
"Open the door, Rakiza. They’re coming to get you. " Muriel said.
"What is she talking about, Rakiza?" Chin was confused. "Who are they coming to get you?"
Rakiza's secret from Chin could no longer be kept from her. "The vampires. They wanted to drain all my blood."
"What?"
And then they heard someone banging on the door. Somebody outside was trying to break the door down.
Rakiza and Chin looked at each other, trembling with fear.
