Chapter 63 : Connecting the Dots in the Past
The knock on the door surprised Rakiza. Chin, too, frightenedly jumped into the corner.
"Who is it?" Rakiza inquired, clutching the knife. Although she was still weak, she knew that if the enemy came, no one else would be able to fight except her.
"I'm terrified, Rakiza. Who has knocked the door? Perhaps that's the foe Theo has prepared with a knife. " Chin's hands were already trembling with fear.
"If that's a bad hit, Chin. When there's trouble, just run and get away from here. " Rakiza's cautioned while the pounding continued and she yelled, "Who are you?! Why don't you respond? We will not open for you if you do not identify yourself! " Rakiza is already brave, despite her weakness.
The knock came to a halt. They also heard footsteps leaving.
The knocker was leaving, "Chin exclaimed as she stood up.
"Please don't open the door, Chin" Rakiza said as she sat down.
When Chin approached Rakiza, she was taken aback. "Rakiza, what happened to you? Your face is all white. "
"I felt dizzy, but don't worry, it will pass; I'll just relax."
"Who do you think was outside the door?" Chin asked.
Rakiza said, "Evil and the enemy will never respond to us, Chin."
After a few hours, no one else knocked. Rakiza then made the decision to open the door.
"I'll open the door for you, Rakiza," Chin said.
"Don't open it, Chin. Let me. " Rakiza slowed, rose, and tightened her grip on the knife. Then she approached the room's door and abruptly opened it. There was no one in the living room, but a box was on the door. "A Tower" was marked.
Rakiza quickly took the box and shut the door again. She felt dizzy again.
"You're still very weak, Rakiza," Chin said as she helped her sit up on the sofa. "So much moving around might not be good for you."
"Don't be concerned, Chin. I can get through this crisis. They drained a lot of blood from me. " Rakiza closed her eyes and said, "Please open that box and look inside."
Chin opened the box, and she saw a book." Rakiza, there's a book inside the box."
Rakiza quickly got up, "What's that book?"
Chin took the book from inside the box and handed it to Rakiza. "The book was familiar to me, Rakiza." Chin said, staring at the book.
Rakiza was shocked when she looked at the book, which was titled, "The Book of Zella."
Inside the box was Miss Brinson's book. Why did she take it to the cottage? Who could have delivered it?
"What exactly is that book, Rakiza?" Chin inquired.
"This is the book my manager lent me," Rakiza said as she stood up to follow the person delivering the book, but she became dizzy and went back to sit.
Rakiza murmured, "I need to talk to Theo."
"But the question now is, where is Theo?"
Rakiza closed her eyes and said, "He saved me, so he really has to show up for me. But why didn't he come to see me? Where has Theo gone?"
***
"Rakiza?" said Theo as he jumped out of bed, his chest bandaged. He was dreaming of Rakiza.
"Theo, rest your mind," Ajella said as she ran to his side. Calm down, your wounds are still bleeding. Focus on your healing and not on Rakiza.
"She should never be ignored." Theo mumbled. "We'd all be in danger if the vampires got her blood." Theo stood up even though it was difficult.
"Where are you going, Theo?"
"I’ll go to the great Bheta." And he came out of the tent.
Ajella was running after him, "Theo, think of yourself. Our people need you more. "
"We all need Rakiza more, so I need to know how she is in the hands of vampires."
Theo crossed the woods, and Ajella followed him. Far from the camp of the wolf warriors was the cave of great Bheta.
Bheta prophesied about the bloodstone that was Rakiza. She was one of those who gave a prophecy that vampires would reign in two kinds of time: during the night and during the day.
After a few minutes of walking, they arrived at Bheta's cave. And Theo knocked on the cave's wooden door, and soon the door opened, and an old woman with very white hair appeared in front of them. She was the prophetess Bheta.
"Come on in, Theo and Ajella." She said in low tone voice.
Theo and Ajella followed the old woman inside, and Ajella shut the door. The old woman's reaction indicated that she was already aware that Theo was on his way to her cave. And she position to her table where lay all kinds of herbs and tubes for her medicine.
"You two, sit down," she motioned to the two stone chairs.Bheta was the werewolf guide in their area. And everything she predicted came true.
"Let me hold your hand, Theo," she said, extending her hands to him.
Theo extended his right hand to the elderly woman.
Theo could feel Bheta's warmed hands. "Bheta, I'd like to..."
"Do you want to know what's happening now with the cure?" asked the elderly woman.
"Yes, I'd like to know what her current situation is," Theo expressed concern.
"I could feel it. Someone else rescued the bloodstone, Theo," Bheta replied.
Theo was pleased with what he heard "Is Rakiza safe? Is she safe enough to live?”
"I told you, darkness will cover the daylight, but there is a tiny light in the darkness."
"What is that tiny light?"Theo was now yelling.
"Perhaps a little hope for all of us," the old woman said, closing her eyes and sitting quietly.
Ajella motioned for Theo to depart. "Theo, we can't stay here for long. She's dozing off. "
"I'd like to know more about Rakiza."
The old woman spoke again, this time with her eyes closed. "It's reassuring to hear the bloodstone's heartbeat." "Be glad about it.
"Come on, let's go," Ajella said.
They exited the cave quietly. On their way, Theo came to a halt in the middle of the dark forest.
"What now, Theo?" Ajella wondered.
"I needed to get back into the outside world."
"Oh, no. That is not a possibility. You’re still unable to act normally. You must rest in order to regain your strength. Their weapons have done you as much harm as you can take, "Ajella insisted.
Theo exhaled a sigh. He knew Ajella was correct. He couldn't even raise a sword to slash an enemy to death at the time.
"Take one to two days off," Ajella advised solemnly. Her eyes were sad as she tried to persuade Theo.
"All right, I'll take a day off." Theo agreed, "But I have to find Rakiza the next day."
***
When Rakiza opened her eyes in the morning, the sun was shining brightly. She could feel tranquillity in Theo's cottage.
Chin smiled from the side of her bed. "Good day, Rakiza. Breakfast is ready," she said cheerfully.
"Thank you, Chin," Rakiza said, attempting to sit down and relieved to feel some energy. "I can sit by myself."
"Sleeping is the time for self-healing," Chin said with a smile. "Wait here while I get your breakfast."
"I'd like it to be in the kitchen, Chin."
"All right," Chin said as he walked Rakiza to the kitchen. They gathered in the living room after eating around the Book of Zella.
"What does that book contain, Rakiza?" Chin inquired.
"It's a Zella story." The vampire, Ardoja, the witch, created Zella hundreds of years ago. She was Dali's only daughter, a great healer in her time. "
Rakiza understood the significance of that book in her situation. And this could not have fallen into the wrong hands. She needed to finish the book. That was the only way she could answer all the questions she had about her life. Why was she linked to the cure?
Rakiza sighed deeply. "Perhaps later after I finish the book," she said. Rakiza then focused her attention on the box marked "A Tower," and she had to connect the dots between the box and the A Tower, as well as Nikolas Augustus.
"Why did Nikolas have a copy of Zella's book?" Rakiza murmured.
*Nikolas Augustus, who are you really?* Rakiza was perplexed.
***
Nikolas was slapped in the face by Tessa Augustus. But Nikolas was unconcerned. He openly acknowledged his mother's fury.
"Where is she now, Nikolas? Where is Rakiza?! You have to tell me right now!" exclaimed Tessa.
"I'm not sure, mother," Nikolas replied casually, but he had no intention of telling her the truth or admitting responsibility for Rakiza's escape.
"Don't you realize you'll be severely punished for this act of treason?" Tessa was so enraged that she threatened to kill him if Nikolas wasn't her son. "I know you're lying to me, Nikolas; I could smell it in you; you fell in love with the forbidden cure."
Nikolas remained silent and steadfast in her refusal to give in to her mother. He was just staring at the beautiful natural wall. "The Edenic Falls."
"I'll give you two nights to find Rakiza; if she hasn't recovered, tens of thousands of werewolves will die for her life."
