Chapter 58: The Second Night

The hammer pounded the nail. The window was already blocked with wood so that it could not be opened.
"It's strong, isn't it?" Rakiza asked.
"It’s okay. Hammer the door. " Theo sat down on the chair, feeling the pain in his chest.
Rakiza watched him. The wound in his chest was still fresh. The healing was still slow in progress.
"How was your wound?" Rakiza was concerned.
"It’s getting better, don’t worry."
"How can we get out if we lock the door?"
"We'll have that problem tomorrow," Theo sighed. "The important thing is that the vampires can't get in tonight."
After a few moments, all access to the cabin's interior was blocked. "It's all done," Rakiza said, taking a seat next to Theo's bed. "What do you think the vampires are up to?"
"I only knew it was only you, that they definitely wanted," he said, turning his gaze to Rakiza, who was already leaning against the door.
Her chest tensed. She was concerned about what might happen when the sun set.
"Are you worried?"
"Who wouldn't?"
Theo rose to his feet and yanked the sword from its sheath. "We can use this sword against our enemies. You'll die if you let it go. "
"This is your friend during the war. Isn't it?
"Yes. Whenever I decided not to shift. And you have to look after it. " Theo tucked the sword back into its sheath and handed it over to Rakiza. He moved his gaze to the window and approached it. The window, which was already closed and leaned over, "Are you ready?"
"Even though I'm not ready, I have no choice. They must be resisted," Rakiza exhaled.
"Did you know that the most stressful thing to think about is waiting for time to pass?"
Rakiza sighed. "The worst part is watching your loved one struggle."
"I know you want to see your mother."
"It's as if I can smell mom."
"She could be just inside."
"She's not in the kitchen." She sighed.
"She's not here in the living room either."
"And in the bedroom."
Theo turned to a small door in the kitchen area. "Did you see that door?"
Rakiza hurriedly approached the door, "I'll open it." She tried to shake the lock. "It was locked."
Theo took the hammer off the table and slammed it against the door lock.
"You broke the lock," Rakiza shouted in excitement.
"There's still time." Theo kicked the door open and suddenly moaned in pain.
"Theo, what happened?"
"My chest hurts," Theo said as he leaned against the wall. "Don't be concerned. I'm perfectly fine. "
"Theo, there's a ladder down there."
He quickly moved as he said, "I have to check it."
"No, please." Rakiza turned around and saw the lamp, which she took. "You're in bad shape. Stay here while I go downstairs."
Theo was opposed. "Do not... Rakiza, I'll go downstairs. It's extremely dark down there. In the dark, they remain powerful."
But Rakiza was quick to take steps down that Theo didn't notice.
Theo exclaimed, "Rakiza!"
Rakiza quickly descended the stairs because they were not steep. A strong odor greeted her. "Stink."
"Rakiza, wait for me," Theo said, and he was behind Rakiza. "Don't do it again. You must wait for my signal."
"I'm sorry, but you're still weak," Rakiza said as she looked around. "What's that smell, Theo? "Dead stinks.”
"It smells like a vampire now." Theo stated.
"What?"
"Take a step back. I'll go ahead of you. " Theo led the way with Rakiza. "If someone attacks, use the sword to slash."
Rakiza was concerned. "But maybe Mom will attack," she said.
"OK, I'll take care of it. Just try to avoid her bite. "
"OK," Rakiza agreed as they continued walking through a tunnel. "We're following this tunnel."
We'll go with whatever comes out. You're right, it's a tunnel."
The hole in the tunnel was getting smaller and smaller until you had to crawl forward. Theo then abruptly came to a halt.
"What made you stop Theo?"
"We don't have much time. We have to go back up," Theo turned to Rakiza.
"What?"
"We don't get anything here. Hurry up. Let's go back upstairs. "
They were back in the cabin in a matter of minutes. Rakiza hammered the tunnel door shut.
"What should we do next?"
"The vampires will return. But we must eat. "
They ate the fruit Rakiza had picked quietly. Rakiza's expression was sad.
"Don't worry, you'll see your mother again," reassured Theo.
"Why did this happen to me?" sighed Rakiza.
"Your mother can respond to that. But... she is, however, no longer in the right frame of mind."
"My life was normal at first, but all of a sudden, things went awry. I just wanted to go to school to become a professional painter, but now I have this cabin. " She sighed, "This is the cabin my mom brought me to when I was a kid."
"You're already in this cabin?"
"I was twelve years old at the time. Suddenly, my mom picked me up from school and she brought me here. "
Theo looked at Rakiza and asked, "Do you know why your mom brought you here?"
"No. She’ll not speak. "
"And what happened when you arrived here?"
"Nothing. But it was clear that Mom was worried about something. She locks the door as we did, and she continues to roll through the window. She's terrified of something. Yes, she has some fears, but if I ask, she won't tell me."
"What happens next?"
"We hid here for a week and then went home."
"What happened here that you won't forget?" Theo's eyes were concerned.
Rakiza was silent for a moment before saying, "She hit me. She was upset that I came out of this Cabin. Even when I opened the door, she forbade me. "
"Your mother knows a lot that she won't tell you."
"What, and why did you say that, Theo?"
"You'll only know in the future, when you discover what's hidden in your life," Theo said.
What Theo was saying had already perplexed Rakiza. "Please tell me if you know anything about me."
"I'm sorry, I lack knowledge. When I accepted this mission, they said only one thing, and I've already told you this: you have what vampires need to gain power over the world, day and night."
They were startled to hear a roar on the roof. Someone flew onto the roof. Rakiza drew the sword from its sheath quickly.
"They've arrived, Rakiza."

THE "A TOWER"
6PM
Tessa Augustus walked quickly into the lobby of "A Tower," and Nicholas followed.
"Mom, call off your plan with Rakiza."
They came to a halt, saying, "That can't be stopped, Nikolas. They will now seize the bloodstone."
"I won't let you kill her, mom!!" Nikolas yelled.
"Don't yell at me, Nikolas! I am your mother. And I know what I'm doing. This is all that needs to be done. Remove the woman who is carrying the medicine. Experiment on her and then kill her. So, start forgetting about her. "
"I don't feel sorry for Rakiza; I just want to---
"You love her, Nikolas! And that love is why we didn't succeed the first time; now you're going to stop me? That's what I won't allow, Nikolas. You're so apathetic. "
Nikolas stared at his mother with rebellious eyes.
"You were given a mission to do what you wanted to do with medicine hundreds of years ago, Nicolas. But what happened? Maruja escaped! "

THE CABIN
6:30PM
Another roar was heard from the roof. Lots of footsteps on the roof.
Theo turned to the small gap in the window and saw many vampires surrounding the cabin.
"There are lots of them," he said, tense.
"What are we going to do?" Rakiza trembled with fear.
Theo just stared at Rakiza. "You have to get away from them. We are more than outnumbered. And I’m not sure I couldn't stop them. "
"As I said, I'll die first before they get me." Rakiza said bravely.
"Let's not take any chances. They're desperate to take you, Rakiza, so you have to escape. And go through the tunnel. " Theo took the hammer and was about to pull it out of the tunnel door's lock.
"Wait, Theo. I won't leave you even if you open the tunnel. "
"But you must save yourself, Rakiza. Vampires must not win; they will rule the world once they have you."
"That is most likely my destiny, so we will not oppose it."
"No!"
"But there is no safe place for me, Theo; I understand now; I have to accept that I am the medicine, but they must have a difficult time obtaining me first."
"Rakiza?"
"Don't worry, Theo. I've already accepted that I'll die. However, I believe what you said. If they can't get in here. We're still safe. "
Rakiza's bravery was admired by Theo. "You're correct. All we have to do now is stay alive for a few hours until the sun returns."
"You're right, we have to arrive in the morning alive," Rakiza stated emphatically.
Suddenly, they heard a bang on the door.
"Get ready, Rakiza, they've attacked again!" Theo yelled.
The loud banging on the door persisted. The vampires outside wanted to break down the door.
"Would you fight as a wolf, Theo?"
"No, I'll fight them as a man." He gripped on tight to the hammer. "The wolfbane concoctions didn't work for them."
They heard an even louder roar. And it's growing. There was banging on the cabin's walls. And the cabin shook.
"Rakiza, no matter what happens, never let them get you."
Rakiza noticed that Theo was pale. He was terrified for the first time. She sensed the man's strong desire to save her and defeat the vampires.
"Don't worry, Theo."
"Listen, Rakiza. And keep this in mind. "
Rakiza's nervousness increased as she fixed her gaze on Theo.
"If it happens, and they can actually get into the cabin. Save yourself. Don't look back. I'll put a stop to the enemies. Do you get it? "
Rakiza's eyes widened.
"Do you understand, Rakiza?!!" yelled Theo.
"I understand." Rakiza shivered.
The entire cabin was becoming increasingly loud. Rakiza tightened her grip on the sword's hilt. The pounding of her heart was synchronized with the banging on the door. This is it, Rakiza. Fight until you die.
The roar abruptly ended and silence replaced it. They can only feel the beat of their heart.
"What happened?" Rakiza was perplexed.
"Be prepared... they have another plan."
Rakiza's anxiety increased as a result of what Theo said. "What is their plan?"
"Silence heralds a deluge." Theo said nervously.
"What?" Rakiza inquired, as she peered through the window. And what she saw made her shiver.
"MOM?"
