Chapter 54 : The Discovery

After eating at a burger joint, they went to Rakiza's house. She was a little taken aback by the house they had rented. No one seems to live there. The leaves of the large tree outside, with a swing at the bottom, were scattered on the ground. And Rakiza saw that the swing was already broken. A chain was broken.
Rakiza stared at it carefully and realized that no one seemed to live there. So Rakiza suddenly became cold and hurried out of the car and ran to the door. Theo was left shocked as well. She knocked on the door, shaking. And she got even colder when no one answered the door. There was really no one inside the house. "What happened?"
Theo approached him, and Theo knocked on the door again, but no one answered.
Rakiza seemed to want to cry, but she stopped herself. She really wanted to see her mother. She was worried about what had happened to her mother. Theo pulled her into the car and said, "Maybe your mom just went somewhere, so she's not here now." Maybe we'll just come back here tonight. "
Rakiza didn’t know what to do. She was hoping that Theo was right. That her mother was just doing the usual thing she did.
Theo decided to find a place to stay so that they could rest a little. And because Rakiza was also tired, she left everything to Theo and led them to a motel with signage, "Lover’s Moon Motel," above the roof, and it was within the town.
The bedroom had two beds and was spacious. There was a TV as well as a small refrigerator containing three bottled waters.
"Are you okay with this room?" Theo asked and took one of the bottled waters and gulped it down. He picked another one and handed it to Rakiza. "You have to hydrate yourself."
Rakiza took the bottle and drank a little. "I need to know where my mother is."
Theo sat down on the couch in the corner and said, "Rest first." He stretched her body to a comfortable position, "You need strength for our return tonight to your house."
But Rakiza was restless. She seemed to want to call her mother and see her right away. She felt that something bad had happened to her mother. "I want to go back there after an hour of rest. Can we? "
Theo stared at her and suggested, "Get an hour or two of sleep and we will be back in there." And Theo closed his eyes as if trying to catch some sleep.
Rakiza wondered if a werewolf also got tired. Because it seemed to her that they have this super power that they have no right to say they’re tired. And thinking about Theo’s superpowers made her sleep dreamless. The room’s temperature was getting colder when Rakiza awoke. Her stomach began to crumble, and then she noticed that Theo wasn’t in the room. He left her without letting her know. Maybe because she was really deep in sleep.
She rose from the bed and stretched her arms when she noticed a pack of Cyndi’s burgers and a diet coke on the side table. The burger was still hot, meaning it wasn’t long since Theo left the room. She grabbed the burger and nibbled it quickly, then washed it off with the coke. She felt recharged and noticed her pale face in the room’s mirror.
The room was multicolored, with only red light shining through the decorated hanging plastic ferns with tiny yellow flowers. She went to the bathroom after eating to refresh herself before putting on her baggy pants and loose white shirt. She was still at ease in a boyish outfit that allowed her to move freely. Then she waited for Theo to return.
She decided to take a look outside the motel after a few minutes of waiting. She could still feel the panic within her as she walked. She came to a halt in front of the large trees.
Vehicles are uncommon on the road. It's a little out of the way from other restaurants and motels. At the time, the breeze from the field was cold. And Rakiza could still see most of the city in their vicinity. In the town of Veto
When she saw Theo's car approaching, she sighed. And it came to a halt in front of him. Theo emerged from the car with a panicked expression on his face. "Come on, let's go inside."
Theo shut the door and peered out the window.
Rakiza sensed something was amiss and inquired, "What's going on? What happened to you? "
Theo sighed. "I just went to my friend's house, who lives here, and I'm hoping to find out some current events," he sighed. "And they saw a vampire last week at a club here."
Rakiza frowned. "And how did they know what they saw was a vampire?"
Rakiza was taken aback by Theo's remarks. "We can tell when they're close. We can smell their rotten blood. "
"He didn't smell rotten," she remembered of Nikolas. "I'm referring to Nikolas."
"You'll soon figure out how to smell them." But for the time being, we must meet with your mother as soon as possible, because... Theo fixed his gaze on Rakiza.
"Because... what?" Rakiza returned his gaze and asked, "Make your point clear to me, Theo. "Please do not place me on hold."
"I had a feeling we were too late to contact your mother."
Rakiza stood up from her seat and exclaimed, "What?"
"Sometimes vampires are smarter than we thought, and other times they move or advance their plans ahead of ours."
"If that's the case, I think we should be moving right now," Rakiza said as she approached the door, but Theo stopped her by grabbing her elbow. "Don't be too hasty; perhaps they were just sniffing at us."
Rakiza expressed her displeasure with her speech. She became terrified after hearing what Theo had said.
Theo's eyes averted. "I already told you,” He said as he moved towards the door, adding "They are astute and always prepared, and they are always ahead."
"And why don't you do as they did and always be prepared?" Rakiza said hesitantly.
"They are rich, and they can spin the brain of a real person and make them animated even in sunlight and while they sleep," Theo grumbled. "They have human beings working for them at daylight." Feeding them information after they sleep and wake up in the evening, they have their clout in the government. And they wanted to govern the whole world someday, to make the whole world one. And make us their slaves."
"I'll help you get the bloodstone if that's what you want," Rakiza swore, "but first I have to see my mother." Rakiza moved to leave, and Theo followed her into his car.
They travel in complete silence. Rakiza noticed that her surroundings had improved since the day she left the area. There were new buildings sprouting everywhere, even in the previously empty fields, and the population had grown quickly. Their conservative town had slowly been painted with the colors of the new age. Rakiza, on the other hand, was dissatisfied with the progression. She still adored the town's musty odor.
Previously, the smell of the fields and flowers was enticing to her. However, the flower fields have now been converted into a park and buildings. And she had forgotten about the old town picture. The town of innocent people and romance in the classical sense. In addition, some structures were constructed for gambling, and the nightlife was expanding.
"Why do people enjoy gambling?" Rakiza mumbled, attempting to divert her attention away from her surroundings before confronting her mother.
"Because people prefer to have fun all the time rather than think about problems most of the time," Theo sighed. "You have to be prepared for whatever comes your way."
"What exactly do you mean by that?" Rakiza gave him a look. Rakiza was irritated by Theo's recent demeanor, which hinted at an impending situation. "Whatever information you have at the moment, Please tell me about it. "
"We're almost there," Theo said quietly. until he came to a complete stop in front of Rakiza's old rented house. "We've arrived."
Rakiza jumped out of the car and was relieved to see their house lit up inside. She was certain the light was coming from the kitchen. She moved closer to the house, but Theo stopped her.
"Wait, Rakiza," Theo said, holding her arms. "Be aware of any changes in your home."
"What exactly do you mean?" Rakiza inquired.
"Just do what I tell you."Theo said firmly.
"Are you not accompanying me?" She asked.
"No, I'll just wait here," Theo said as he walked over to the broken swing and leaned against the iron pole. You needed someone to keep an eye on you here. It is better to be cautious than sorry."
"All right, if that's what you want," she sighed, "I'm going in," and ran into the house.
The living room's main door creaked as it opened. Rakiza was perplexed as to why her mother had left the door open while she was in the kitchen. One of her mother's house rules was to always lock the front door to keep the burglar at bay. Rakiza didn't mind that the living room was dark without the lights on.
She went straight to the kitchen and saw the stove on fire with boiling water in the kettle. Rakiza went to turn off the stove. "Mom?"
She was calling her mother as she walked to the kitchen door and opened it. And she was surprised to see her mother's silhouette in the dark, sitting under the tree on a bench with her back to Rakiza.
"Mom? What are you doing there? "
But her mother didn't hear her. She was motionless, with her back to Rakiza. Her hair was blowing in the wind, but she wasn't moving.
Rakiza grew closer to her mother over time. "I'm here for you, Mom. Do you understand what I'm saying? "
Her mother, however, did not turn to face her. She didn't seem to be listening.
Rakiza then turned to face her mother and came to a halt in front of her. "Hello, Mom. You summoned me, and I am present. "
Her mother asked, gradually tilting up her backlit face. "What is going on with me?"
Rakiza sensed something wrong, something evil, about her mother.
